Giving a Figure a 2nd Chance: Tommy Dreamer!

Sometimes, a few figures fall through the cracks and don't get picked up. Perhaps the head scan or attire is off, it's not a Basic/Elite (Depending which style you prefer), or there's not enough money in the budget at the time.

For me, most of the time, I pass on almost all Basic figures and wait for the Elite version to come out later. But some figures only had a Basic version made before they were released from the WWE. They tend to warm the pegs for months until they slowly fade away to obscurity. Sometimes, though, they reappear when you least expect them.

For example, a couple of weeks ago, I found this old 2-pack at Walmart:



I remember being tempted to get this set when it came out. Both are cool figures and I knew Tommy Dreamer wouldn't have another Mattel figure made since he was long gone at the time.



Unfortunately, I had to budget my spending money and really wanted Elite Christian instead. In the end, I decided to stick with my choice to collect only Elite figures. Something inside me always felt a little bad to leave this hardcore legend behind, though, so I'm glad I found him again!



Sure, Tommy Dreamer isn't a flashy looking character but as the Innovator of Violence, he doesn't need to be. He's a tough guy who will give you a war in the ring and it's nice to have him in my roster now. I like that Mattel gave him an ECW shirt to remind us of the good old brutal hardcore days!



Tommy Dreamer doesn't back off from any fight, even against giant cats! Heheh, I guess my cat is a big fan. She wouldn't leave him alone while I was taking pics, so now she's on the internet!
