How is that "taking his ball and going home"? Because someone else makes the decision that the legacy of the character means more than giving someone a big bump?
And as we've seen the last 4 years, Undertaker can win the match, but the other person still comes out looking like gold. So you could easily have the effect you are describing to built up a newer person, or cement someone's status, while still having the streak in tact.
And to be quite frank, Chris Jericho is one of my top 3 favorite wrestlers, but he does not deserve to end the Streak. Not saying "he doesn't deserve it" because of lack of talent or anything like that. But out of the fact that he doesn't need it. Jericho will already be remembered for everything he's done, to the point where he doesn't even ahve to come back to the WWE ever again, and will still be remembered. Beating the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, while a big deal, will just be a footnote.
I'm with Vince on this one. The character of the Undertaker will never die, so the streak shouldn't either.

I don't mean it on his part but more so how his character would be portrayed. Obviously it's not his choice one way or another. It's just the concept of the streak. They've made it out to be this big thing, and to just end it with nothing coming from it other than the Undertaker remaining undefeated just doesn't seem right to me. I'll be the first to tell you that it's by no means a popular decision. I used to be against it myself. I'm also not saying that you, nor anyone else, has to agree with me. I'm just saying how I feel about it.

Fair enough. My friend Brandon is a big Undertaker fan, and he also thinks the streak should end for various reasons so I see where people can be coming from.
I think a few years ago, a win for Batista or Edge or Orton could have given them even more of a boost to popularity, especially Orton. But to be honest, everyone he's faced so far have done enough to cement their own legacy. So having it be someone he's faced before break it, or someone who's seen in the same light (Jericho, Punk) end it would just be a footnote on that person's WWE resume.
Personally, as I've said before, I'm only in support of a Wrestlemania Rematch if it's Randy Orton. Otherwise, either Jericho or Alberto Del Rio, in which I still don't think either man would break the streak. Orton and Jericho, for the pure fact of having a great match and a great build up. Orton could have a similar HBK build up, where he was still a face that did heelish things specifically to the Undertaker. Jericho could just simply be his heel self, and Alberto.....well, you already know what he can do, don't you?

Because they are " brothers " and they both have one of WWE's greatest of brother rivals that need to have a decent finish before they both retire.. Their matches on Taker's last run were horrible. True. I still think they could both do a great finish, Undertaker's last couple Wrestlemania's were fine. It's just Kane. or maybe it's just two big guys that have a hard time working together because of their size.

Bull**** it's Kane. They had a match in 08 on Smackdown that was probably one of the best matches of the year, and certainly one of the best out of their entire history. Their last few matches sucked because of the story being told.
Undertaker was weak at first, so it was just Kane destroying him. Then Paul came back into play, and Kane had to pretend to be frightened by the power of the Urn. Then Paul turns on Undertaker, and he is back to being weaker, but pissed. Then the storyline was more or less ended ASAP due to Undertaker's injury.
I still don't think it should be Kane, since their entire feud has been done to death at this point. But if it was Kane, it wouldn't be a horrible match by either party.

Just recently, though, he's really started to grow on me. I guess it was just the way they shoved him down your throat on both RAW and SmackDown! leading up to it and really had me thinking he was going to win at WrestleMania. But yeah, I'm really liking where he is right now, and if they do just plan on letting him retire undefeated then he'd be a great guy to challenge the streak. I get where you're coming from with Orton too. It would've been huge if he or Edge had beaten him at WrestleMania. The way they built it up--same with Shawn, the first time--really had you believing it could've happened too. It would've given a huge boost to the whole Legend Killer angle. Orton's was the first time they really put an emphasis on someone deliberately trying to end the streak too, if I'm not mistaken. They had a great match too, so I definitely wouldn't mind seeing him go at it one more time with 'Taker.

I just want to see a chokeslam into a RKO again. Although I could see the arm bar being turned into either a Hells Gate or chokeslam as well....
oh the possibilities
