It's with great sadness, that I am 95% certain, I am going to pack up collecting figures.
I started just 3 years ago, as I had money to play with, and time on my hands.
I always looked for a bargain, I often bought in bulk, and have amassed around 1000 figures, RA's, Classic's, Deluxe, Elite, Legends, DM's, and some Hasbro's too.
I still have plenty of money, I'm running out of space.....but neither of these are behind my decision.
The reasons are thus.
Countless threads and a runaway poll asked for legends Warrior to have a black WE, or a yellow IC. Mattel are out of touch with the fans. This figure was c**ked up once before? I have every Warrior figure imaginable (bar super rare), and all we wanted was an accurate figure. How hard was it?
Countless threads have told how we are starved of figures in the UK. No legends, unless we go to Wrestling world and get our eye's ripped out. I very rarely paid their prices when figures were cheap in the US, now they are not cheap there.
If I wanted to buy a legends 6 and DM4 Warrior, its 50 dollars, plus around 30 more in shipping and taxes. To buy in England its currently 50 quid, which forex's to over 80 USD at current rate. 40 dollars a figure, any sympathy from you guys in the states?
Elites. Did we need more Cena, more Undertaker, more Edge, more MVP, more Orton, before we paid attention to so many other members of the roster?
I completed up to Elite 8, I see no value in continuing.
I haven't been able to complete the LEgends series 1-4, a problem that you dont have in America because they are warming shelves. I've been quoted 70 GBp , 110 USd for a rock and Austin legends figure. Stick THAT sideways where the sun doesn't shine. So I see little sense in finishing off with Legends 5 and 6.
In short, we're either being ripped off, or we're getting poop that we don't want, and if I want to complete the current collections that I have, my wallet and personal pride just wont tolerate that kind of treatment.
Sincerely,
A very disappointed wrestling figure fan.

I don't see how that can be controlled by the design team that reads this board. Most retailers in the UK don't seem to want the high-priced premium lines (or Legends figures) because there aren't enough of us here to warrant them. The companies like Wrestling World and Forbidden Planet stock them for the folks who really want them (like the sort of collectors who are into it enough to sign up on this board), and do so at a higher price... A lot of people on this board have a hard time understanding that we really don't make up a large part of the market for toys. And hell, there's always eBay. Legends figures are easily found on there, and often at very reasonable prices. That's just absurd. You seriously think that it's unreasonable that Mattel (who are a mainstream toymaker, not a niche company aiming only at the hardcore collector/fanboy market) makes multiple figures of popular characters that will sell instead of filling shelves with elites of unknown jobbers that only us hardcore collectors will buy? A toy shelf with Cena, Mysterio, Orton, Undertaker is far more attractive than a toy shelf with Uso A, Uso B, Jacob Novak and Tyler Reks. Of all the flaws in Mattel's line, including Mysterio in the elite line twice before Primo is not even on the list. Startling lack of perspective. I got Legends 1 Austin for £15.99 in a shop, and Rock cost me £20 online. I hate how much we have to pay for some of the figures, but ultimately, it's worth it to me. I wish they were cheaper, but that's the reality of being a niche collector of specially imported goods. I'm sorry that you don't enjoy collecting wrestling figures anymore. Maybe one day you'll get interested in it again. Bye.

I really can't stand threads like this. If you don't want to collect anymore then don't, you don't need to make a huge thread bitching about it to all of the people on here who are obviously Mattel fans.
Mattel is not perfect but they are doing a damn fine job, infinitely better than any company before them. I hope you enjoy not collecting anymore.

What a couple of absolute peckers.
You don't understand what a difficult decision this is.
I might have known the first poster would be you, cos your a prick of the highest order.
To make a mockery of one of your points, which is all to often easy, please do check the latest completed Austin and Rock Legends figures on ebay. Almost 40 quid a piece, It was me who picked up the classic deluxe Austin from the same guy for 18 quid.....

Another sob story from a European member bitching and moaning about high prices. This is like a regular thing around here and I'm tired of it. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but it's the truth. We get it-if you dont like the prices, no one is forcing you to collect. If it's too expensive then maybe you should collect trading cards. It's a similar hobby and it's much less expensive, you can get common cards for like 25 cents a piece, as opposed to 10-15 dollars per figure.

When someone has spent around 8-15 grand and an obscene amount of time collecting figures there entitled to my opinion. As a mod, in my opinion posts like the above are even more annoying, and more bitchy than a poof with piles. Completely deconstructive. Mattel want to know why Legends make up only 1 percent, theres your answers above They want to know why DM1's are still on shelves (my missus just bought me one in Florida), theres answers above. I appreciate that the mods may/may not have a vested interest in the sister website, but this is a forum for discussion. I'm sick of people saying "Oh look what I bought today," and showing pictures of figures we've seen a 1000 times, but such is life.

Well, if we are allowed to make announcements on here, let me say that today I had one giant massive Chocolate Shark. So I am thinking of retiring now from Chocolate Sharking. I just can't keep up with it anymore. Maybe someday when Chocolate Sharking becomes a little easier for me, I will start doing it again. Until then, I have to stop. Thank you, and goodbye.
hahahaha chocolate shark.... I am so gonna use that now when I go number 2

In Europe figure collecting is very expensiv, thats right. But I love to collect them and thats why i pay like 25 - 30 Dollars for an Elite! But when you dont want to pay that for them it is OK. But I think a new thread for this topic is what we DIDNT need. But we need new Lineups! xD

I'm not starting trouble, I'm giving you my opinion on your thread. If you don't like the replies you're getting, maybe you should re-write your original post in which you come off like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum because you can't get what you want. That's why you've gotten the replies you have. If you can't understand that then I don't know what to tell you. Of course this is a place for discussion, but you get what you give, and your post was a pile of crap, so my reply was the same thing right back at you.

Come on guys there's no need to act like this with maske2g.
I agree with some points and not with others but I'm not going to be a prick about it.
You have your reasons for quiting and it was a hard choice. It is a expensive hobby especially outside the States. You have to really like the product, enjoy collecting them and be passionate especially to collect Legends & DM in the UK. I'm am!
The Elite choices I have not found to bad at all. Yes theres Superstars that Mattel have not got too yet but there's time and updates/different attires are needed (and sell). It has been getting a little worse over the last wave and next with only Gallows, Ryder and Tatsu new to elite but I see that improving soon. Plus new headscupts have been used mostly (R-Truth, Kane and Ted were disappointments).
Anyway getting a bit off topic. Its sad to me to see a collector give up due to difficulty in finding figures or the expense. I hope you find something new to spend your time/money on that you will enjoy or manage to find a way to still collect and enjoy.
I find it to be a great hobby and having a full collection of elites and especially Legends is great to look over. Once you get to this point it becomes easier to keep up and enjoy.
Good Luck!

Rob, thanks for sharing my pain..
The rest of you, I'm glad I'm going out on my terms, I feel sorry for you, because of attitudes just like yours, Series 6 will likely be close to the last one, and you can enjoy "WWF LEGEND" (dont make me laugh), David Von Erich's figure.

There's 2 elite cenas, that doesn't seem like "alot" to me for wwe's most popular guy. Your also gonna stop collecting because of a color of a belt?

You don't understand what a difficult decision this is. The decision to stop collecting, or the decision to bitch and moan for attention? Yup. And I continue to call you out on your lies, nonsense and ceaseless crying. Or I could just look at the ones that are still open, £15-16 Buy It Now for Austin and £15-19 Buy It Now for Rock. The figures are very easily gotten for well under £40 a piece. I know this because I got the pair of them for less than that in total. I got Austin last July and Rock in about October. £15.99 and £19.99 respectively. I didn't just look on ebay for the most expensive ones and pretend that's how much they all cost for sympathy on a messageboard. Like you did in your last "waah waah London is the capital of the world, WHY MATTEL WHY" sillythread, you've ignored a lot of the real prices to try and make yourself seem like a victim of Evil Mattel's Anti-UK Campaign. We live in a foreign market for these figures, get over it. But look at the bright side: If the figures were cheaper and more easily available, you wouldn't be able to whine about them. Imagine how hard the decision to stop collecting was... The decision to stop whining about collecting would be much harder -- daresay impossible -- for you to make. Had your post been something better, I may care. But otherwise, see ya. More figures for us. Well said.
