'I'm coming home, I'm coming home, Tell the world that I'm coming home! You may or may not know me, and if you do you'll know that I used to create wrestling stop-motion videos, as do many of the members on here. Well with a long summer ahead of me and having finished college until October I've decided I want to start making stop-motion videos again... this time using WWE Mattel figures!! I stopped collection figures when Jakks contract ended with WWE and fell completely out the loop when it came to anything Mattel... but now I'm going to begin collecting again, I imagine this is how an recovering alcoholic feels when they give in to temptation. But I need some help, I need some recommendations for the best figures out there and also want to know if all the figures are in scale - are elites in scale with basics? and are superstars in scale with divas? Please introduce me to WWE & Mattel... better late than never!

To my knowledge, all of mattel figures are in scale with each other. There are pros and cons to both elites and basic but since you are like me and do stop motion, i suggest getting into the elite line because it is way more articulation than basic.

Yes, elites and basics are completely in scale with each other. Same for divas generally, although I think some of the diva scale is off because there aren't as many parts for them. There are occasional scale problems too, for example, Mr Perfect is way too tall. Basic Jack Swagger is way too small. But for the most part, it's awesome. I was amazed when I got my first Mattel WWE figures and had Undertaker and Rey Mysterio next to each other... The size difference is incredible.
The top ten current roster figures I'd recommend that are out now, in no particular order:
-Elite series 3 Santino Marella -Elite series 2 Randy Orton -Elite series 6 CM Punk -Elite series 6 Batista -Elite series 8 Sheamus -Elite series 8 Evan Bourne -Elite series 9 The Miz -SDCC Exclusive Undertaker -Elite series 1 Edge -Elite series 8 Drew McIntyre
And I'd also consider Elite 3 Cody Rhodes. It shelf-warmed big time, so might be found quite cheaply. It's a very underrated figure.

Welcome aboard Jed!!! I was an animator as well but quit after a while after losing interest. The mattel line is awesome & quite addicting. The figures are in scale and the detail is quite impressive. Some figures I would recommend are: Basic 5 Hurricane Elite 4 Kane Elite 6 Batista Legends 3 The Rock SDCC Undertaker Defining moments Ultimate Warrior/Legends Warrior Any Elite Punk (depends on which one you're looking for) and there are more figures but those are ones I could remember off the top of my head

I think the elites are bigger than regular Mattel basic figures. At least, they are moving that direction. The first few sets were smaller but these newer sets seem to be about RA size. The Ultimate Warrior Legend fits in perfectly w/ the scale of RA figures.

Must haves, in my opinion are: - Elimination Chamber Chris Jericho - Elite John Cena (both are great) - Elite or Basic Evan Bourne. They've nailed every figure of him. - Basic 10 Triple H - Elite Kane - Legends Iron Sheik - Defining Moments Randy Savage (Mattel's Holy Grail) - ELITE 2 RANDY ORTON
As someone who HATES Randy Orton, believe me when I say that his Elite 2 figure is one of the greatest mass market toys out there. Absolutely perfect.
