...Those first unpainted prototype images we ever saw of Mattel WWE figures? It must have been mid-2009. I remember there was some debate over who the diva was (Beth Phoenix), and people did some Photoshop paintjobs on them. Or a link to that thread if it still exists?
EDIT: Apologies if those pics aren't allowed to be posted. As a slight change of topic...
For those of you who were here back when that thread first happened, what was your opinion of the figures at the time? How has your opinion of Mattel figures changed from the first images you saw compared to now?

I wasn't here for the unpainted pics, but I did see the first proto pics as I barely found out about this site but didn't join yet. At first I hated them. The photos made them look terrible. Then I saw them at stores, and loved them.

The first proto I saw on here was HBK from what would be the 2 pack series 1 set. I remember thinking 'wow these are just like RA figures' at first. Then I thought they resembled R3 figures moreso. I was kind of right on both assumptions really.

I think I still have them. I know back then it wasn't allowed to show them on the forums, so it circulated via PMs.

I remember LOVING the Evan Bourne proto, basic 1. To this day he remains to be one of my favourite figures in the Mattel WWE line. Something about it is just perfect. Looking back on it, I was so hyped up for the WWE line. It's been too long (Toybiz TNA to be exact) that we'd got good wrestling toys and honestly, Mattel's lived up to it. I knew about their DCUC lines and (poorly distributed) Movie Masters so I expected good figures as far as mass market stuff goes, although my mentality at the time was 'ANYTHING BUT JAKKS'.
Also, remember that poster of the Mattel Triple H silhouette? There were some people saying it was Mr. Perfect or something silly. Then a member here did some photoshop edits to it to try and identify it. good times.

When I saw the protos I was relieved. Finally some wrestlers that looked somewhat human. No more ballooned arms and fat thighs. I also remember later on when we saw Legends protos. Wasn't there some debate if that was really Jimmy Snuka? Little did we know Jimmy would have boots and long tights.
