Google maps is more of a threat to the yous and mes of this county than the Patriot Act 1) How would you know whose emails have been read, phones tapped, etc.? 2) Google Maps is satellite photography that, theoretically, anyone could take. 3) Google doesn't have the ability to arrest a person. So..... False. HOW CAN THEY DO THIS?!? Look at the facts... Since The Patriot Act how many terrorist attacks have happened on US soil? I know I quit keeping count after 48... And yet they push this b.s. legislation through again?! What's the point?!?! Really... I would love to see one example from someone on this board who's privacy has been invaded by The Patriot Act... How many terrorist attacks happened BEFORE the Patriot Act was passed? Your odds of being killed in a terrorist attack:1 / 10 Million (approx) Your odds of being hit by lightning:1 / 500,000 I'll take my chances and my privacy, please.

People are fine with trampling all over someone else's right's as long as it's not there's. They came for the Jews and I did nothing because I was not a Jew. They came for the Communists and I did nothing because I was not a Communist. They came for the Muslims, but I did nothing because I was not a Muslim. They came for me and no one was left to stand up for me.

So theres roughly 12,000 people that have been hit by lightning in the world? Weird. If you're wondering, the maths was 1/500,000 = 2/1,000,000, roughly 6 billion people in the world, 1 billion = 1000x1,000,000 so 6x(2x1000) = 12,000 ;[

Thanks for answering my question... Did you know that 999/1082 people have no idea what the Patriot Act actually is... 4/13 people think it has to do with the NFL, 19/2944 people have never heard of it, 9/10 people hate PB&J and 10 percent of one thousand in 100 So....huh? It's not as if drug dealers and kids trying to find a 21 year old to buy them booze are getting arrested because of TPA, you guys do realize that if we had something like this in August of 2001 the WTC attacks wouldn't have happened right? I know, I know, 4/15 love Ren and Stimpy and 21/1000 people are going to be able to watch the new ROH show this fall, but I have no idea what lighting and Stimpy have to do with TPA

Or...the attacks could have possibly been prevented had more attention been paid to the Presidential Briefing dated August 6, 2001: Bin Laden determined to strike in the US.
I understand that people feel the need to compromise civil liberties for our safety...they play right into the terrorists' hands.

It is easy to see this works just like the bible says. They can easily fake any voices over a phone and use it to get anyone who is a threat to there hidden organizations arrested. The 9/11 attacks would have happened as the government has known about it for many years in advance. The 1995 20 dollar bill is proof of that. Its not long before this planet is under one control and then its to late. It is destined to come. Illuminati and the NWO fit perfectly into the bibles description of the end of times. This fits perfectly into the end of times.
I am for cell phones and technology such as that and website searches being done as you don't have to have a cell phone and you have more choices. It should just be put in the manuals. Lets face it no one reads the manuals anyway. As for e-mails and public phones it should need warrants but the warrants should be made easier to get.
Between internet searches and cell phone use and street cameras you'd be able to get all the info you needed to get a phone tap and e-mail tap. Websites the same and tapping should be allowed. Between all that stuff the only way terrorists would be able to communicate would be via phone service and mail and private situations. With criminal records, records of interest types on the internet, and family history, way they dress they'd easily stop as many as they are with this.

i saw someone say that had TPA been enforced during 2001, 9/11 wouldn't have happened. well 9/11 also wouldn't have happened if the US's foreign policy weren't so damn meddlesome.
all TPA does is increase the scope of government concerning the personal lives of Americans. as a citizen, if the dangers of 9/11 were the result of the actions of our government, why would I want that government playing a LARGER role in my life?
the 9/11 bombers succeeded because government failed in using the powers they ALREADY had effectively, NOT because they needed MORE power. it is well known fact that our government knew that Osama & Al Quaeda were threatening to attack. people died because we failed to take them seriously/ ignored their warnings/ did not act quickly enough. NOT because we did not know that they wished to kill

I provide actual logic, you reply with this. Do you see why I have a hard time seeing your side of the argument? It's not as if drug dealers and kids trying to find a 21 year old to buy them booze are getting arrested because of TPA, LoL, like the government has EVER used legislature exactly how it was intended. There is now no need for a warrant for ANYTHING. They can enter your home, search it, leave, and never tell you about it. This is a blatant invasion of privacy and a DIRECT violation of the Fourth Amendment. I don't care what it was intended for. The fact that MY rights are being taken away is ing absurd. If the government sees me sitting at home all day, rarely ever leaving, having friends over, then driving around in an expensive vehicle when I do leave; they can decide, "Hey, let's look in this guy's house. He's probably selling drugs." I'm not. I'm designing websites, writing, and playing Xbox. My rights are being infringed upon by the simple fact that this is even a POSSIBILITY. you guys do realize that if we had something like this in August of 2001 the WTC attacks wouldn't have happened right? According to WHAT? What evidence do you have of that? The White House had information that the attacks were going to happen. This is not debated. The problem was their own ing incompetence. The terrorists who committed those acts had never committed any crimes in America to my knowledge. They weren't setting off any red flags. So how would the Patriot Act have stopped 9/11? That honestly has to be the most ignorant statement I have seen on this board in quite some time. And there have been some doozies. Congratulations on your unbelievable misunderstanding of what actually happened. i saw someone say that had TPA been enforced during 2001, 9/11 wouldn't have happened. well 9/11 also wouldn't have happened if the US's foreign policy weren't so damn meddlesome. all TPA does is increase the scope of government concerning the personal lives of Americans. as a citizen, if the dangers of 9/11 were the result of the actions of our government, why would I want that government playing a LARGER role in my life? the 9/11 bombers succeeded because government failed in using the powers they ALREADY had effectively, NOT because they needed MORE power. it is well known fact that our government knew that Osama & Al Quaeda were threatening to attack. people died because we failed to take them seriously/ ignored their warnings/ did not act quickly enough. Kliquid, the Supreme Court ruled last week to get rid of the 4th amendment so you can't make an argument on those grounds. Silly person that wants to respect the constitution.

People (who watch WAYYY too much Ventura) like to say that "ahh well the government KNEW they were comming! They had proof and they didnt do anything about it!" which is true. But it's not like there weren't 400 other reports of other groups or people that were going to attack something... Now, if the Patriot Act had been around then, then the CIA/FBI/Homeland Security would've had the power and tools to keep watch over the suspects, thus preventing the disaster... However at that point there were so many strings to walk over in order to tap a phone, where as now, if someone's suspected of terrorism, or being tied to terrorism the Gov'ment can just tap into their phones/private lives more efficiently. Facebook is a million time intrusive than the Patriot Act and yet people are sharing more and more on there without any problems...

And the powers they had were evidently not enough at the time. .. They were plenty enough. The people in charge didn't do a good enough job of stopping the attacks. People (who watch WAYYY too much Ventura) like to say that "ahh well the government KNEW they were comming! They had proof and they didnt do anything about it!" which is true. But it's not like there weren't 400 other reports of other groups or people that were going to attack something... There are varying levels of intensity. This one should have been stopped. Bottom line, the Patriot Act wouldn't have stopped it. To say that, as you did, is ing absurd. They already HAD the power to watch over them. They just need a judge to approve the search warrants. It's not that difficult. Facebook is a million time intrusive than the Patriot Act and yet people are sharing more and more on there without any problems... The difference is that one is voluntary, the other is involuntary. I can get naked if I want to at a private location, too, but that doesn't mean I want the government passing around pictures of my junk.
