The New York State Senate voted 42-18 to legalize mixed martial arts in the state. The bill still needs to be signed by the Governor, but that is expected.

This is big news. UFC @ MSG I'll be there.

Nope.
It's been passing in the NY State Senate for the past three years. When it hits the assembly, it always gets denied. Don't throw your balloons yet.

I don't get why any state, nowadays, won't allow it.

I don't get why any state, nowadays, won't allow it. Same reason they don't allow marijuana use.

I don't get why any state, nowadays, won't allow it. Same reason they don't allow marijuana use. Both are highly addictive and you're guaranteed to die if you do either?

Marijuana is highly addictive and you'll die from use? hahahahaha. Interesting. I guess I'm one of those special cases.

It was a joke.
You mentioned "Uneducated people" and then I read Kliq's comment and the first thing that came to mind was a 1950s propaganda video about how addictive and deadly it is.
And you how dangerous MMA is. People die every week from it. Human cockfighting Just terrible.
BILL DENIED!

It's the same way in Victoria, Australia...Sotiropoulos' hometown, and he can't fight there because of it...as for NY, sorry to my American friends who still can't see it in NY, hopefully someday soon, eh?

I think in Victoria, Australia it is legal, but it's not legal in a cage.

I don't get why any state, nowadays, won't allow it. Dana on a video for MMAWeekly on youtube said it was down to "Union idiots". Meh I have no clue on U.S law or what's going on with it getting legalized, but the sooner it hits Madison Square Garden, the better. It always makes an event seem special. =]

Screw MSG, I want to see the UFC return to Buffalo, a fifteen year absence is far too long.

The bill died before it reached the assembly floor, the same spot as before.

It's never going to be legal in NY anytime soon. People need to accept that.
