The real belt looks pretty damn shiny so this is a huge let down. Actually, that is a replica belt, made out of cheap material. The REAL World Heavyweight title has a dull almost tarnished complexion to it, which I feel Mattel has captured PERFECTLY.

I dug up a pic of what the belt originally looked like... Much better in my opinion. It's a shame they didn't at least add the red paint to the side plates. Oh man, that looks freaking awesome. I can't wait until the vac metallization process is used on the next World Heavyweight Championship and all the people saying this one is the way to go will say that one is wrong, I assume. There's no way the same people will be staunchly in favor of that one too, right? Uh-huh.

I have it in hand right now, again, and I still am not really getting the criticisms. The replica belts all look shiny like the examples given in this thread. I see the same "dull" look that everyone else is seeing on the actual world title. This looks like that to me. if you shift it in light, it shines, nothing like the metallic, but it shines.
If Mattel really is going to use the metallic process from here on out for this title, this one is a steal because it's about as accurate as the belt will look in figure form as far as I'm concerned. I think Mattel made the right decision with it in the first place.
I guess we haven't gotten a great example of the "dull" belt because it keeps flickering and shining in that Steiner video and the picture with Christian is shinier than usual.
I dunno, I like it.

Lets get a pic of the belt on Captain Charisma please. Any mattel Christian would work. None on hand, man! I have one from the Heath Slater 2-pack at home, I'll make a note to bring it in tomorrow. How about this pic for the dull look to it? Good example! I mean we're not crazy, right? I'm wondering if I'm wrong about this. Is the belt generally metallic and shiny and I'm just seeing things?

Nope you're totally right, The real belt isn't shiny, That picture of Chris Jericho shows that.

I dont think we're crazy, hope not anyway I've always thought it had a duller look than most championships but with the ammount of lights WWE uses for their show it does tend to look more shiny then it is imo. When you see it in studio shots on wrestlers you can defintley see the dull look to it. Well if Mattel makes it more shiny next time, atleast people have a choice of which they like better.

I just got mine today, and I have to say that the belt is awesome. I dont think you can judge this belt on pics. I like it much better than Jakks versions. The "shine" is just right.

The vac metallization process, which gives the belts the shiny metallic finish, is not an inexpensive process. Each series of figures has a budget. For this wave of Elites we felt more comfortable including the vac metallization process on the two belts with the Big Show since they are most likely going to be the only time we ever produce those belts. We are planning to include the vac metallization on a future World Heavyweight title belt in the Elite line. It shouldn't be overly shiny, but shinier than what I can see in the pics of Matty's WHC.

I think the problem is that Mattel used a flat gold finish when the actual belt has elements of both gold and platinum. The platinum parts of the belt are what shine the most, while the gold tends to be a little bit more flat. I have the belt in hand now, and while it's a nice belt, it's not even close to accurate in terms of capturing the actual belts look.
I can't blame them, however, as they more than likely blew the budget on Elite 10. So many belts and so much detail would also explain the lack of red on the side plates.
Hopefully we'll get a more accurate belt with a defining moments or future elite/legends release.

^^ Those pics really show off the nice detail in the belt. I can comment and rant here about whether i do or dont like the belt but honestly Im not going to judge it until I have it in person. The WHC is different to most other belts, its not as highly polished as other belts, it has a stronger yellow hue to it than most and can look quite flat as Dan mentioned. Studio shots show it best but even when shown in a WWE arena with all lights blasted, it doesnt always look overly shiny. Clearly mattel know of the issue and theyve given their reasoning. When its next released with the vac metalisation process performed, we will know which is truly best. But on a side note, im glad that Kanes getting an updated elite fig celebrating the best night in his career complete with the briefcase that made it happen and he being the first to be released with a mattel WHC.

Mattel gave a reason? Could you repeat it please? I tend to miss a lot of stuff as I don't get a chance to visit the board often! It's a really nice belt and the detail is amazing; the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. Hope fully they can find a way to add the platinum elements to it next time. The Kane figure is one of my favs, too. I only bought it for the belt, but now I've found it to be one of my favourite mattel figures.

The Kane figure is one of my favs, too. I only bought it for the belt, but now I've found it to be one of my favourite mattel figures. Sure thing. Basically the manufacturing process that gives the belts the shiny finish is expensive and as you know each set has a budget. WWE didnt want mattel to release the old tag belts but mattel pushed hard and got them released so they spent the money for making the belts shiny on the tag belts instead because we, pretty much are guaranteed, not to get the these tag belts again. Its a smart decision because the WHC will inevitably released somewhere down the line again. And yeah the Kane is great. Whilst it isnt 100% accurate for the night he won the MITB and world title, its one of mattels best pieces of work, they tend to do really well with Kanes. The only slight problem with this elite is on the night Kane didnt have his gloved hand taped up like it has. The molded wristband should b on the other arm instead and there should only be the glove on his right hand. He did have his gloved hand taped up during some of his WHC run but not that early on or the night this figure depicts. Anyway heres mattels explanation: The vac metallization process, which gives the belts the shiny metallic finish, is not an inexpensive process. If any one is discouraged by this not to purchase the figure, I must take note to point out that the black bands on Kane's pants are a distinct and different black from the rest of the outfit, a detail that I was particularly proud to execute.
