You should of told him the truth. Career mode sucks. It's just like 12 different 'mini tours' with certain goals. You'd finish it in about 5 hours. Buy Rock Band 1 or 2 for full on Tour modes.

He didn't ask if career mode was any good, he asked if he could play it solo. If he asked which game had the best career I would've told him 2. RB3 has the most well rounded setlist in my opinion, RB1 was good but just doesn't stack up to 2 and 3 anymore. Not to mention it would be wiser for a person to buy RB3 anyways because DLC that's been released since RB3 came out isn't backwards compatible with the others.

Not too bad. Also "All Bodies" from Between the Buried and Me is coming to RBN. Definitely more interested in that to be honest.

And the 5 year anniversary of Rock Band is this Tuesday. Exactly 5 years. November 20, 2007 saw the re-invention of the music ggam. Hopefully on November 20, 2012, we get a big name band. I'd really like to see it be Zeppelin. They're like the biggest name band to celebrate the 5-year mark of the Rock Band franchise...

I'm still holding out hope for some real Aerosmith at some point - as unlikely as it is.

I could see Floyd or Zeppelin as a pack. Hell, there's a lot of high named bands that have had little to nothing in the game that could be it. Could be something huge like a Metallica album, or an announcement of a new band centric game. But on the other hand; Harmonix could just give us a 3-pack from a band with little demand or something trivial like double points on RB: Blitz songs.

6 singles. No Floyd or Zeppelin. Songs spanning 6 decades.
Not too bad. Glad to finally be getting Closer.

Well thats disappointing. Not that any of the songs suck or anything, but, this is it? The decade thing could have been cool, but why these song? When I listen to Closer, I don't think of the 90's, and I Melt With You is an 80's song? I always thought it was 90's song until a minute ago when I checked Wikipedia. Just seems to me like they could have picked better to represent the decades. I think this would have work on a week other then the 5th anniversary, but right now, it's kinda like with Nintendo and the Mario 25th anniversary game for the Wii.
Also I know there would have been no way to please everyone with a 5 year anniversary pack no matter who would be in it, but whatever, maybe in another 5 years we'll get something like a free song or discount.
Edit: RBN is getting a Dillinger Escape Plan track which is cool.

So amped for pretty much all of those songs. Will definitely be picking up The Weight, Jessica, Melt With You, and Cry Thunder (finally a Dragonforce song the average player will be able to play ) all in all I will say a solid outing.

I knew CRJ would be there eventually. And finally, another song that GH got before it died.

I'll download Sex and Candy probably.
I went nuts on the RB sale today, bought 2000 MSP and spent it all on cheap DLC. Awesome.

OKAY! I did the math, and I am $112 behind on DLC from June to present; that figure includes CRJ and Marcy Playground, coming to the store next week. I asked a friend of mine if he'd get me a card, since they're on sale for $10 today only. We'll see if he's able to get one.
And I played on RB3 tonight. Seriously, it's been almost 3 months since I played on there. I've been playing Blitz when I played an RB title. But now that the glitz of Blitz [lame, I know] has settled, I'll definitely be playing on the guitar alot more frequently. It's not like I lost a step or anything, either.

I just listened to Sex and Candy the other day (one of my favorite late 90's one-hit wonders) and thought how great of a song it would be to have in Rock Band.
I couldn't begin to tell you how much I want Eagle-Eye Cherry's "Save Tonight", though.

So GH7 was discussed. It ditched the drums, bass, and vocals. The guitar added a 6th button to the neck. The soundtrack proved an issue. Two songs said to be on the soundtrack were "Sex & Candy" and "Closing Time". There were also songs that had been used at least 3 times prior in the GH series.
