Great Wrestler but.....
Why the F*** wasn't he over in the WWF/E, he had it all even at One Night Stand in 05 he was ''Awesome'' and he always lived up to his name!
He shouldn't of just held the Hardcore title!
He should of held the WWF title at least twice...
It's really sad that he killed himself, but I do hope he gets put into the HoF some day!

This is all my opinion offcourse, But it always seems like talent means nothing to Vince Mcmahon. Infact the more over you are in another company, The harder it seems he trys to tear you down. Mike Awesome was one of my favorite wrestlers in ECW and as soon as they had him job to Edge and Christian at Invasion, I knew Vince had no plans for him. I believe a full fledged ECW Mike Awesome would of made wrestlers like Undertaker and Kane look bad because he was "IMO" 100 times more athletic. He had a anti WWF moveset with multiple powerbombs, None of the big names will take all those bombs. He just wasnt a WWF guy, He was best served with a side of Extreme lol

I loved him in ECW. WCW and WWF, not so much. His match at One Night Stand was awesome; such a shame he felt the need to kill himself

if WCW had handled him better, WWF may have. no one except ECW truly used that guy to his fullest potential.

not only that, but by the time they started the whole "Invasion" angle Paul Heyman was already in the WWF/WWE and indeed had a role backstage....needless to say,he wasn't Mike Awesome's biggest fan,so i'd be surprised if he didn't have anything to do with him being held down....

Just look at what WWE did to Vader.
Despite the federation being built on ther back of feeding monsters to their biggest stars the company never seemed to be able to grasp how much further they could have gone with a killer monster like say Awesome or Vader who not only had the size & look but could wrestle a convincing brutal match.

In eyes Vader should of been success and not a guy who even get one ith his monster push.

Vader was supposed to be the one to take the belt from Shawn Michaels. It was supposed to happen at SummerSlam 1996 and Shawn threw a fit like he did quite a bit back then. So Shawn went over in that match.

I would hardly say he is getting the push of a lifetime. But yes, Awesome should have been used better in the WWE. But that's how it goes. Good talent goes to waste over guys who shouldn't be main eventing in the WWE.

So Shawn went over in that match. not only that,he did it AGAIN! Survivor Series was suppossed to be HBK vs Vader again, with Vader winning the title ( with the plan already in place for Shawn to lose it,then regain it in his hometown at the Rumble) ....hell,there were some promo posters and such made with this main event featured... but Shawn didn't want to lose to Vader,so he convinced Vince that Sid was more over and to allow Sid to beat Vader in their #1 contender's match at the October IYH,setting up HBK vs Sid at Survivor Series rather than the originally booked - and advertised - HBK vs Vader rematch....

I agree with Eddie Wins. I think the poor booking in wCw killed any chance of the fans taking him serious again. Between the Fat Chick lover & that 70's Guy, he had no shot. Shame too, cause he could have been huge had he initially signed with WWE instead.

as far as booking goes I rarely hav anything bad to say about Heyman-except when it comes to Mike Awesome.
Heyman had him buried in WWE because he jumped to WCW while still ECW champ.serious bad blood over that.
its actually widely acknowledged that Vinnie liked Awesome and had plans for him.we know this to be true-he wona title in MSG.......taht speaks volumes.
but Heyman convinced Vinnie otherwise-saying although capable he was a fickle personailty who often tired of the biz......
its a pity Awesome(O Haire too)had GREAT potential for a top tier run in WWF.

A shame, loved his work in ECW and FMW - his feud with Masato Tanaka in both companies ws brilliant, but I knew that due to his style it wouldn't work with him on either WCW or WWE.

I've been saying for years that Awsome should have been used as a top guy during the Invasion Angle. He had the look and was one of the most athletic big men ever. The way he won the Hardcore title was awsome(pun intended), and it made me forget about the whole WCW mess w/ him. Sadly, Vince did nothing with him after this.
Awsome should have been in the Inaugural Brawl. It should have been Booker T, DDP, RVD, Mike Awsome, and Big Show(jumped to the Alliance) vs Austin, Angle, Taker, Kane, and Jericho, with Jericho turning on the WWF instead of Austin. The Dudley Boyz just seemed out of place in the match, and Rhyno had already been portrayed as a mid-carder for a few months in the WWF, so he also seemed out of place in the match IMO. Awsome could have been used as an instant top guy and it would have been believable. This guy had so much potential that it's sad Vince and Heyman buried him. Same goes for Sean O'Haire.

Awesome would of looked good with the Attitude title around his waist and if WWF was smart enough to keep Awesome and let him do his thing, then WWF would of gained lots of fans from the places Awesome worked at. Giving him just one title with the WWF/E is just sad, and its not even a very good title.....its the hardcore title! thanks
