Carrying that company is appointed to a face. So I look at someone who could pull it off as a face. Some guys are just suited as heels and would not work in this pg era as the company strong man.
What if Cena pulled an Edge and had to quit tomorrow, I would say.
Now Orton. Over as a face with all the same group women/kids. Established champion created by VKM.
Distant Future Alex Riley. Very few give me the impression they aren't trying on the mic. Riley is one. Great moment turning on the Miz and getting the crowd to chant Riley foreshadowing at its' finest. He needs a shirt, gear that can be worn by fans. Nickname change and catch phrases. Using A-Ry is a great start.
Wild Card Kurt Angle. He could come over and be the man today if Cena went down. He has it all.

WWE has not tapped into the Miz as a face. I think it will be a gold mine when they do. He's got as much charisma as the Rock when I see him on Conan or SNL. He's an average heel, but his true potential is as a face. Miz can be the face of the company.

Cena is Cena, Hogan is Hogan, Rock is Rock etc. Obviously its a who will be the face of the company thread though. Everyone's talking Miz and A-Ri and I think this is awesome, I really hope they captivate on A-Ri he could be big in wwe, and he has grown on me.

The next John Cena?
Well, we know the obvious answer to that is that there will never be another John Cena unless he has a son who goes by the same name, or Heel Jim Ross introduces him.
As for any of the current crop of talent on WWE's roster becoming the next John Cena? I don't see it for most of them, but I will make one exception.
No one is, or as I would perceive them to be, as easily marketable in terms of merchandise, catchphrases, and their overall persona as John Cena has been throughout his run as the company's spokesperson, or spokeschampion.
Or, at least that is what I've come to believe from what I've seen (and I'm a regular viewer, by the way).
Akin to the NBA fan's Jordan-Kobe argument, it's fairly obvious that John Cena has followed in the footsteps of The Rock. Who, then, would follow along the same lines in Cena's footsteps?
The only answer is The Miz.
We don't know if he's capable of carrying himself as a face on his own to the same degree or if he will captivate an entire audience of adults and children alike.
He doesn't have as distinct of a wrestling style as Cena, nor do his in-ring abilities come into question by his critics anywhere near as much as Cena.
To be honest with you, I don't think there has ever been, nor will there ever be, as polarizing of a figure in the wrestling world as John Cena.
The Miz could come fairly close by the end of his career because of his not-so-modest beginnings, but the success of his inevitable face turn will be the deciding factor.
Unfortunately, it could all be squandered by a lack of sufficient heels to counter his growth as the face of WWE one day. But, if anyone could do it or could fit the mold at the very least for argument's sake, it would be The Miz.

honestly first i was thinking Alex Riley, but i changed my mind. im going to have to go with John Morrison. I am NOT a fan of his, but i see it happening if he learns how to talk on the mic.

Alex Riley kinda came out of nowhere I think we can all agree, he was great in FCW but who would of honestly thought that he would be getting such a push, and such ovations each night. Good for him.

By the 'next John Cena', I'm pretty certain he meant popularity/face of the company wise. You're taking it too literally.
Ziggler, Sheamus, Miz, Ryder and Riley gets my vote. If anyone wants to know why I chose Ryder, I'd be happy to explain.

If wwe really pushed john morrison he could be the next big thing. He has got the look.

Morrison has the look and ring work...just no mic skill.
Miz is decent in the ring, has a strange look, but the greatest mic skills around right now besides Punk and Cena.
I could see Riley, Ryder, or someone currently in FCW right now as being 'the guy'.

Whoever WWE wants it to be. I was thinking about the answer to this question as I was scrolling thjrough other answers. This quote says it all....I never saw Cena as "the guy" back then nor did I choose him, but here he is. No matter how skilled you are in the ring, on the mic or in the public eye, the WWE is going to create the view they want you to have of the person they want to be "The Man". Personally, I'd think it would be The Miz or Alberto as the top face/heel. Evan Bourne can be the next Rey Mysterio... Sheamus can be the next HHH as the "big man".

Sadly I don't think the next big mega star is even on the roster yet.

Sadly I don't think the next big mega star is even on the roster yet. I kinda have to agree. I think they should give Morrison one more shot when he comes back. They way they are pushing Alex Reily I guess they are seeing if he's got it.
