After reading the helmet thread it got me curious about seat belts. When driving a car, you have to wear one or you can be pulled over and given a ticket. Though its your life on the line, you should have the choice whether to wear it or not.
What do you guys think?

Click it or ticket.
I think it's a good law. There's no reason not to wear a seat belt.
I think there are some people who just do not realize how important it is to wear a seat belt. It forces them to be safe.
If seat belts were around in the 60's, my Uncle (who I never met) would still be here. R.I.P.

I support the law 100%. Seat belts save lives, and its ridiculous not to wear one. When I get in a car, my number one priority is the put my seat belt on.

There are a few times I drive without a seatbelt, but for the most part it is always on. Too many lives have been lost by not wearing them; however, I do agree that is should be a matter of choice, not law.

Honestly they need to take the idiots off the road instead of seatbelts. I must almost get in about 3 accidents a day b/c of stupid ass people.

My personal rule is if you're in the front seat, it's required. But if you're in the back, couldn't care less.

It should definitely be a choice. I rarely wear a seat belt unless I'm in someones car and they request that I do. It's not to "be cool" or anything, I just don't even think about it.

That's incredibly stupid. Maybe you should think about it. My personal rule is if you're in the front seat, it's required. But if you're in the back, couldn't care less. You do realise you could still be killed even if your in the back seat? Being a seat back isn't going to stop you from flying straight through the windshield. I hope that you read what I'm typing and actually re-consider what you're doing.

You do realize that realize has a z in it, right? It's what makes the Z sound. I'm well aware of what you've stated. I'm also well aware that a seat belt isn't going to do **** in some situations, regardless if I have it on or not or if I'm in the back seat. Think it's stupid? Good for you, but do me a favor and don't give me life advise. It's very much not welcomed. I hope you read what I typed and actually reconsider what you're doing.

Why wouldn't you wear one? Are the 2 seconds to click one in really that long?

I think it's stupid that it's necessary to be a law. More parents should do what mine did and tell their kids that the car won't start unless everyone's buckled in when they're young enough to believe it. It's second nature to me.

First of all, only the American spelling has a Z in it. If you had taken 2 seconds from kissing your own ass to quickly look at my profile, it clearly states that I'm from England. Too bad you didn't realise (with an S) before you made that post. You say a seatbelt isn't going to do **** in "some" situations. What about the other situations? How is not wearing a seat belt going to help in any way? You're just lowering your chances of survival drastically if you're in a crash, which is likely to happen one of these days minor or not. Forgive me for showing genuine concern for a fellow human being, how inconsiderate of me....

Serious question..........
Can anyone tell me WHY they wouldn't wear a seat belt?
Only thing I can think of is if you're too fat and it's uncomfortable.

If you're in my car, you're wearing one. If you don't you're walking.
The night of my junior prom, I lost a friend who wasn't wearing his when the car he was in wrecked. He was in the back seat without a seatbelt. The two guys up front walked away uninjured.

You do realize that realize has a z in it, right? 'realise' is the British spelling of the word In that case, I stand corrected in that regard and embarrassed for being uncultured in my response. that being said, I personally will wear a sit belt regardless where I am sitting. the "couldn't care less" part was directed towards those that ride with me. granted I could have been more specific in my original post, but if you ride with me and you are in the back seat, it's your call. i shouldn't responsible for someone old enough to make that decision themselves. and since it's currently a choice when sitting in the back seat, I don't feel the need to make that choice for someone. please keep in mind the "someone old enough to make that decision" part, because i'm not an a-hole that's going to let my nephew or little brothers ride in the back without making sure they are as safe as possible. since they are not as old as others, i can't assume they would know what is or isn't safe for them
