Hey
I was going through my jakks collection when I remembered last year when wwe announced that they left jakks and teamed with Matteo instead.
I thought that getting Mattel to make wwe figures was a horrible idea atthe time
But looking back on it I can honestly say I prefer the Mattel wwe over jakks wwe A reason being that Mattel put effort in details and tattoos of a superstar while jakks ignored some, I always hated it when I had to add a tattoo that they missed on undertaker and other
So I just want to get your opinions

I was extremely loyal to Jakks. I even refuse to sell my Classic collection because the lineup is absolutely amazing and probably something Mattel will never match. However Jakks gave customers the run around and more or less just F'd us over at the end and into the TNA line. You're absolutely correct on the lack of details. Mattel puts so much more effort into their product compared to Jakks and the price points arent too far off either. Ill have soft spots in my heart for lines like LJN and Hasbro but Mattel is by far making the greatest wrestling figures of all time!

I think Mattel is soooo much better. As I started collecting Mattel and comparing to Jakks, I questioned how I even dealt with Jakks for so long. At this point, the only Jakks from my collection that I still have left are my Ultimate Warriors and Hawks, but that is because I collect all of their figures.

I like mattel's attention to detail better and the fact that they actually care. But I honestly like jakks figures better. To me, they are more like action figures. Mattel figures are so damn scrawny, and it seems like every figure I buy has some problem, whether its a loose torso, loose ankle, or legs that cant move.

I started with Jakks on my 10th birthday. Have a home video of me opening up Owen Hart and being baffled at who he was, even. It's kinda funny to watch in retrospect - if they weren't in Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, I either hardly knew them or didn't know them at all. Anyway, point is, is that I grew up watching WWF/E with Jakks figures to compliment my love for wrestling. For that reason, I'll always have a softspot for those days.
That said, it was absolutely time to move on. In fact, I kind of wish that Legends had first dibs on the retro guys instead of CS, just because the market would have been so untapped and Legends would have likely been very successful. Opposed to...well, whatever is going to happen to them after SDCC in two weeks.
I loved a lot of what Jakks made. A big chunk of the BCA and TTL line, for starters. Rulers of the Ring was a like a dream come true for collectors since it gave us all the new faces, many of which were ex-WCW/ECW, and that was always fun getting the other company guys in modern WWF form. CS8 Hollywood Hogan is still one of my favorites, all the Flairs in robes looked great on display, CS2 - that set was amazing, plenty of figures that I felt were good. But truthfully, even the ones that were good usually had flaws. As much as I liked that blue Evan Bourne they did - the only one that didn't get cost-cutted to death before release - he was taller than The Undertaker. Rey was hardly small, they'd show protos of good looking figures who would have their outlines removed, designs shrunk, or worse of all omitted entirely. And the less I say about unnecessary poor part switches (which they just did with Raven, actually), the better.
It just got old...we'd wait months and months and then MOC pics would pop up and it was like getting the middle finger every time. They made this routine starting with RA...not that figures prior were free from flaws (looking at you, Triple H belt/pads wearing Edge, and Jeff "I'm Not Owen!" Jarrett), but it just became a sizable problem during that time. It seems like as time went on, they cared less and less. Their Too Cool figures from the TTL days were so much better than the RA ones..that were double the money. CS3 Undertaker? Cool figure, but the TTL5 one with the same exact molds had slightly more details for less than half the price of the new one. Stuff like that was obnoxious as all hell.
So, in the interest of not going on forever and not mentioning naked Mark Henry and bootleg thrift store Shawn Michaels in gray tights...whoops...I was glad to see the change. It was just time for someone to breath in new air to the WWE license and modernize the figures. The Elite line is exactly what I imagined figures "of the future" would look like. Well, the near future. Until they can do invisible joints under the skin at a price that won't cause us to lose our homes. ;p

I mean, do you know how many cookie sheets, WHC belts and blue chairs I have? I would have much rather traded those in for more detail.

By the time Jakks license was up...I was so discouraged I was more than ready to get rid of all my wrestling figures. Then I finally cracked and bought a Mattel Taker and Punk.
I have about 100+ Mattel's now.

I prefer jakks because I started with jakks and have many loose figures that I liked to play with and today I still collect Jakks but keep them MOC. I only have two mattels and i would only collect mattel figs that jakks didn't make.

I have many Jakks RA and many great figures in that form, so I dont want to just get rid of all my figs and make the change. Jakks is better for bigger wrestlers and Mattel is better for smaller wrestlers. Some things I didnt like Jakks doing included
-John Cena's screaming headscan from 2006-2008 -Making Strike Force with T-shirt/jacket -The way London & Kendricks were released (Blue was released as singles, Black/White released as TRU TT Exclusive, etc)

I got into collecting WWE figures at the right time for putting together my Micro Aggression collection but far too late for RA/DA figures. I bought a few but I knew that I couldn't afford to go back and buy all the figures I wanted from eBay/Amazon. When I heard that Mattel was going to start making WWE figures within a few months, I decided to save my money and wait for 2010 to start.
I'm really glad I waited, the Mattel figures are such a huge improvement in terms of scale, details, and quality. Jakks got very lazy with their final WWE releases and sadly, never really stepped it up since. Considering Jakks has so much experience, molds, and parts available to them, it's sad that they can barely get their flagship DI line moving while Mattel continues releasing wave after wave of figures that are getting better and better!

i was very loyal to jakks CSDA figs , and the bcas were awesome. The R.A Figures IMO were and are and always will be Horrible peices of garbage that mostly shared the same body. I Mean i can display hasbros and still enjoy them, maybe a few LJNs , i can display BCAs and CSDAs even though they shared the same bodys i still liked them...... But mattel.... The holy Grail.... i was disapointed with legends 1 but as 2 ....3....then 4 came my interest grew more, but when legends 5 came , i caved in, and im glad i did

At one time I loved Jakks but by the end of their run they had me burnt out. I was tired of having to keep my Bourne displayed on the opposite side as Taker & Kane, just so the lack of scale wouldn't be so obvious. And I was tired of seeing a great prototype, just to pre-order it and receive a figure without half the detail.
And even after Mattel took over I was very skeptical at first about starting over cause I feared we'd get much of the same. Then after I opened Santino & Beth Phoenix I was sold. Haven't had a single problem yet. And I'm proud my collection, much more than I would have ever guessed I could be. So as long as Mattel is making WWE figures, I'll be buying.

I prefer the price of Jakks lol, they use cheaper plastic which I guess is why it's cheaper. Mattel is great but I spent alot of money on Jakks and can't start collecting all over again for the most part Jakks figures still go with Mattel which is good so I can get a mattel figure every now and then.

I am loyal to JAKKS in terms of of CS & LOTR. I do think Mattel's accessories are awesome! The actually figure is "meh" at best. I HATE how Mattel uses plastic arm and boot tassels. I look at CS 1 Warrior and the L6 Warrior and still feel CS 1 is head and shoulders above Mattel's. But I like Mattel's Vader is much better than any CS Vader. To one is his own.
I prefer and am a hardcore collector of CS figures. I don't feeling Mattel will reach the diversity JAKKS gave us in the CS line, but i think Mattel will be able to give us guys that JAKKS wasn't abel to produce for one reason or another.
I grew up on Hasbro and LJNs, so the size thing doesn't mean squat to me. I remember playing with my hasbros and not caring if Bret was taller than Yokozuna. Also I remember when the only time you found out about new figures was when you saw them in-store. So seeing protos and MOC before being in stores is a great treat.
I believe had JAKKS and WWE signed another agreement, the last year and a half would not have been the same for JAKKS. I think things would have looked a lot better.
People love what they love and if you love Mattel or if you love JAKKS, its your choice. I just wish people would stop trying to put down the opposite brand. Seriously its like a bunch of teenage school girls fighting over whose the best looking. Neither brand is perfect so just love it for what they give or have given you.
