It. Was. Amazing.
Just got back from the midnight showing here, too late to post full thoughts but I think it was a great way to end the series. Not perfect, would of liked it to run longer and a few key scenes were cut short/left out but aside from that it was AWESOME!

I ended up getting tickets in 3D, the 3D sucked as per usual. Only thing they can ever properly get in 3D is the computer animation but it was a decent flick and i got to keep the special harry potter 3D glasses.

I'm probably going on Saturday.
Today is busy and so is Sunday so if not Saturday then next week..
I guess if it happens next week the theaters should have less people since I would think that everyone is seeing it this weekend.
Should break lots of records.

First time I've ever thought that the 3D was alright, still not a fan. Thought the film was amazing. That Snape flashback. WOW.

I loved it, by far the best film I have ever seen it. I think you need to see more movies. Rickman was great in this, as always. However, for barely being in the movie, how is that deserving of awards? Because of really well done, 5 minute flashback? Definitely better than Part 1, easily. Obviously, since it was "Camping with Daniel, Emma and Rupert" - Triple S

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Note: A few spoilers are included but they've been whited out. So don't highlight if you don't want to know.
I want to be able to put into words just how I feel about it, but I'm still so psyched that I'm afraid I'm unable to. It's an amazing finale to what will probably go down as my favorite movie franchise of all time. The whole time I had a surge of emotions: excited to be watching another Harry Potter movie, sad that it was the last movie, etc. They didn't really change/add much to this one, so fans who were annoyed with that in the last couple of movies should be happy about that. (I actually loved all the added/altered stuff from Half Blood Prince. I thought it took the original material and conveyed that message in a much more exciting way.) Only thing that stood out to me in that respect was The movie opens with a quick shot of Snape, now headmaster of Hogwarts, watching as the students march to class in a silent, organized fashion. It's a cool way to open the movie, IMO, and up there with the equally quick shot of Dumbledore/Harry at the beginning of Half Blood Prince as my two favorite openings of the series. The only major things that were in the seventh book that didn't make it into either movie were Dumbledore's book is mentioned/seen very briefly in Part 1 but is never addressed here. So his past with Grindlewald never comes up in the movies. Which is fine with me. The sections of the book that were excerpts of Dumbledore's biography kind of slowed things down and there wouldn't have been much of a way to convey the info in the movies without stopping the story for a complete info dump. Also, one of the most extreme moments in the whole book sereis, where the burning sorting hat is placed on Neville Longbottom's head does not occur in the movie. It was one of my favorite scenes in the book, but unfortunately, I can see how that would have been too extreme for this movie. Neville really stands out as a hero of this film though. This was the first time I've ever seen a movie where people in the audience cheered/applauded. They did so on three different occasions: 1.) When Molly uttered her famous line, "Not my daughter you bitch," the crowd cheered. When Bellatrix subsequently died, they applauded. 2.) When Neville chopped Nagini in half. 3.) As the credits began. I was surprised that they didn't respond to the death of Voldemort.
My only complaint about the film is the same one I had about the first part: they still don't feel enough like two separate films. The first one feels like you're watching everything be set up and then it ends before all of that can be resolved; this one feels like you're tuning into a movie that's 2/3 of the way through. Rightfully so, and I know that's bound to happen when you split a book into two movies, but I wish they could have done more to make them seem more like standalone tales.

I still have to see the first part, so I'll probably re-watch the entire series including Deathly Hallows Part 1 and wait for the theater to die down before seeing the final conclusion.

Swiped this from the Mugglenet forums since I don't post there and thought it might be a neat thing to discuss here. Basically just how you've watched the movies over the years. Here are their questions:
Tell us about your Harry Potter film rituals? Do you dress up in HP costumes to go to the film in? Do you get together with the same set of friends? Do you go with members of your family? Do you go to the same theatre? How many of you have been to midnight showings? Did you watch any of the DVDs before you went to see the latest movie?
Tell us about your Harry Potter film rituals? Nothing really set in stone. Just for movies 6, 7, and 8 my brother and I went to the first showing we could attend which for 6 and 8 was the first showing during the day of release. We aren't midnight release kinds of people so this was good enough for us. For the 7th movie, I had classes early in the morning but he's in high school so we couldn't see the very first showing of the day. We went right after he was done with school and the theater barely had any people in it. By comparison, today the theater was the most packed I'd seen any since I saw The Dark Knight for the second time on the Sunday after its release.
Do you dress up in HP costumes to go to the film in? I don't dress up in any costumes for anything.
Do you get together with the same set of friends? I saw the 2nd and 5th movies with friends the first time I saw each of them. One of them was with me for both of those. We were joined by one or two others for the 5th movie.
Do you go with members of your family? Yes. I have one cousin whom I've seen every one of these movies with me. She couldn't go today because of work but we're planning on seeing it again with her, her mom, and another aunt of ours. The latter aunt took us to see the first five of the movies.
Do you go to the same theatre? Yes. The theater we go to only opened a year or so before the first movie came out, so we've been able to watch all of the movies in the same theater.
How many of you have been to midnight showings? I've never been and if I didn't see any of the HP movies at midnight releases, I'll probably never see any movie at that time.
Did you watch any of the DVDs before you went to see the latest movie? My brother and I watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 a month or so ago just for the hell of it. However, we did watch the marathon on ABC Family last weekend. I came into it about halfway through the second movie and watched up through the fourth.
