ing brilliant! Looks way better than the crap Marvel Studios churn out. So pumped for next summer. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Marvel films are crap. Only good films they've done are Iron Man 1 (which I think was separate from MS anyway) and Spider-man 2 (1 was decent too I guess) in my opinion. Otherwise, they belong in the 'Michael Bay pure action, no substance' camp. Must admit, I haven't seen First Class though, and have heard it's great. This film clearly takes a different route. The cinematography in the trailer alone is a lot more tasteful than what we're used to from a Marvel movie, and the actors aren't the same old 'Hollywood hunks'. Admittedly I wasn't (and still am not) keen on Garfield's suit, but otherwise, the film has potential to be fantastic.

You've got Iron Man and Spider-Man mixed up, Iron Man was by Marvel Studios and Spidey was from Sony. MS has made Iron Man 1, 2, Hulk, Cap and Thor. I agree though, their only above average movie is Iron Man. Though I think Iron Man is pretty great.

oh right, my bad. either way, I totally dismissed Iron Man simple because of my hatred for Marvel movies. Ended up catching it on TV earlier this year and was really impressed!

I did enjoy Iron Man (the first one, not the rubbish sequal), but not as much as most people praise it. X-Men and X-Men: First Class were also great, but not sure if they were from Marvel Studios.

You're free to your opinion all you want to be. But if the marvel Studios releases are crap, I can't wait to eat as many crap sandwiches as they can churn out, and go back for seconds. More people should take not of this. Clearly a disagreement of opinion, but both parties are agreeing to disagree, not saying 'No, my opinion is right, your isn't!'. I base my dislike for Marvel Studios films down to the fact I have never read the comic books for their characters (Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man) and they are too unrealistic. Sure, I love Spider-Man, but thats because I grew up on watching Spider-Man on TV and reading the comic books. Something I did not share with the other Marvel characters. I also like my superhero films realistic (you can blame Christoper Nolan for that) and the ones Marvel churn out are far from it. I totally respect your opinion, and it's perfectly fine that you see it that way, but I think that's the biggest FLAW of the Nolan franchise. The after effect, in that, everybody is clamoring for ALL superhero movies that come out to be UBER realistic and grounded in reality, and then complain when they aren't. It works for Batman because he doesn't have superpowers, but how can anyone (not you in particular) really expect them to make a REALISTIC, GROUNDED IN REALITY version of a guy who climbs walls like a spider? It's crazy that everybody wants that "gritty realism" because if they got it, they'd all be bitching that every superhero movie was ripping off Dark Knight. Superhero movies should be fantastical in tone, it comes along with the material. You wouldn't like it if they made Scooby Doo uber real, and they were solving rape and murder cases with a real, non talking, dog? So I don't get how this is any different. Gah.... I'm ranting, I'm done now. On Topic, just peeped the trailer, it's too dark to make most of it out, but the first person sequence looks totally wicked!

I just expect them to be as far grounded in reality as they can possibly be, as well as staying close to the soure material. Like Watchmen was.

I think superhero movies need to find a balance between the fantastical elements, which they need, and a certain TONE, which I think is what a lot of people want, post Nolan, more so than realistic. Green Lantern and Thor don't need to be realistic at all, because that's just stupid, but they don't have to have a silly tone where they are constantly making ridiculous puns or spitting out pop culture references.
Iron Man did this well. The writing was sharp (or, at least, it gives the illusion of being sharp because of RDJ being so perfect) and it was still very fun but not stupid. I think Amazing Spider-Man will be like that. It'll absolutely be a fun Spider-Man movie, but maintain a respectable tone.
And then of course there are always movies like Scott Pilgrim and Kick-Ass (which I think are two of the best comic book movies) which thrive off of absurdity, which there needs to be more of, I think.

Agree. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and Kick-Ass were not only two of last years best movies, but were also so much more than just genre pieces.

just a quick word on Nolans Batman efforts.
excellent stuff but as a lifelong Joker fan I was very dissapointed his skin wasnt dyed.the ultra realism hurt TDK for me in that respect.

Gah, I'm too late.
It's not so much realism as it's taking the characters seriously within a dramatic environment and not hamming it up.
Nolan gets away with so much because Batman at his core IS plausible. Not entirely possible, but not entirely fantasy either. Sure there are fantastical elements but I have always viewed Batman as else-worlds tale of corruption and crime/drama.
And you don't need to have so much drama and peril where it becomes sappy, Sam Raimi's first 2 Spider-Man movies did it well and Spider-Man is a character with super powers. They weren't as gritty as Nolan's Bat-Films, didn't need to be either, but they still had this grounded reality which made you give a damn about the characters. Hell, even Watchman did it.

When leaked trailers show up on the internet, it happens. Links don't usually last long. The original link posted was gone. I found a different one, and shared. Worked when I posted it, and a few others watched it. Sorry it doesn't work anymore. How dare I not update the link every 5 minutes with a new one as they are taken down. I wasn't rolling my eyes at you, I was rolling them at the message.

I just expect them to be as far grounded in reality as they can possibly be, as well as staying close to the soure material. Like Watchmen was. Watchmen, very much like Batman is easier to ground in reality. You can't have a gritty crime drama starring Thor, the God of Thunder. Iron Man is easier, which is probably why you liked it. But Captain America, Hulk, Spider-Man, these require you to let go of reality a little bit. I've been reading Marvel and DC for 30 years. I never thought we would get movies like the latest Batman series, and the new Marvel movies. Personally, I love all of them. Compare the modern comic movies to the ones of the past, it's a huge transition, and they have done extremely well with characters that are extremely difficult to put in a movie. I know you're a movie buff, but comic movies are really their own genre. Just like you don't hold a comedy to the same standards as a drama. And how dare you compare the marvel movies to Michael Bay films.

Looks awesome. It still has the grounded feel of the Raimi films, if not more grounded. I think Garfield is going to nail this! Lizard is going to be bad ass too!

I love it. I am one of the few people that preferred the first Spider-Man, to the second one.
