I was a little tired of JR during the end of his last run, but let's face it, you don't know what you've got until it's gone. I'll take JR on his worst day over Michael Cole on his best. The sad part is that we still have to hear Cole on a weekly basis. The quality of the commentary improved immediately last night as soon as JR took over. If he can call two moves, he's already ahead of Cole. The one move Michael Cole managed to call during the Punk/Cena match at Money in the Bank was "Anaconda Vice", and the move he was calling wasn't even the Anaconda Vice. Not even close. What move was it? Because I do recall Punk reversing the STF into the Vice. I don't recall what the hold was, it was pretty early in the match, within the first five minutes or so. He countered Cena into it, I think it was some sort of modified triangle choke, I'd have to watch it back to confirm.

I'll be honest, JR in his prime basically added to every single match. If a match was lacking, he tried to inject that feeling of importance to a match. If it was a PPV main event, he made sure you knew about it and really added to the big fight feel.
However, it's not like that anymore. He's obviously got worse. Will it come back to him? No, he'll never be as good as he was. Am I happy to see him? Yes, for sure. He's definitely better than Cole and Lawler, regardless of how rusty he is. Maybe he just finds it hard to get excited for the current product? I don't know..

I don't really understand why they would bring him back, unless they're trying to give Raw like the more classic attitude era feel. It's understandable why he'd mess up a few times back, Live, on Raw. It's just part of it. It's just, I think his time being an announcer is over, same with Lawler. Lawler use to have so much energy & just comedy behind his speaking - now it's so bland. They really need better announce team for Raw.

Everytime I hear JR calling a match, it has that throwback feel to it from the late 90s. I like it.

Michael Cole called a head scissor a hurricanrana last night. If he doesn't know that difference yet, he has no credibility as an announcer. I love JR, no matter how much he messes up cause he actually gets me excited about the most unimportant matches.

Tremendous Announcer who, sans a couple lines he stumbled over last night, immediately kicked ass and did what he does best, call a Wrestling show! JR was great in the Main Event and made it feel bigger than it already was. He's still the best Commentator in WWE and why they insisted on trying every possible option that didn't include him was beyond me. He's older, but like the Chris Jerichos and Shawn Michaels of the Wrestling World, if he can still do his job better than almost anyone else available, why keep him at Home and on your On Demand service?
Great move.

J.R. sounded pretty bored on RAW if I'm honest. Cole, whilst color commentary wannabe, actually has enthusiasm in what happens during a match on RAW.

The only reason I am glad JR is back, is that hopefully I don't have to hear Cole ruining the show by putting over his heel character.
