MONDAY, JANUARY 4 | USA NETWORK | 9/8 CTA video package, highlighting the career in the (then) WWF of Bret Hart plays to start the show, highlighting the amazing in ring performances, and championship wins he had during his career under Vince McMahon. The video package then fades into a greyscale effect, and the Montreal Screwjob plays, before a modern day image of Bret Hart appears, and a voice hypes tonight, Vince McMahon confronts Bret Hart! As the camera fades into the live feed, we see John Cena walking into the arena via the car park, only to be blindsided by Sheamus with a Brogue Kick, which takes Cena down, and Sheamus swiftly follows this up with another Brogue Kick when he gets to his feet. Sheamus then grabs Cena and uses the Celtic Cross on him, dropping him on the hood of a car, Cena screaming out and wincing in pain, as Sheamus heads back into the arena, the camera heading to ringside! The camera focuses in on Justin Roberts, who introduces, after a twelve year absence, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart! Hart's theme then plays, the arena erupting, but The Miz emerges from the curtain to an absolutely resounding chorus of boo's! Miz climbs in the ring, and says everyone wants to see the injustice that was the Montreal Screwjob righted, but he doesn't care, he wants another injustice righted, and that's the fact that some back o' beyond olive farmer from Italy, Santino Marella, getting lucky and beating him, The most awesome superstar on the roster, The Miz last week, and he wants Santino to come out right now, and give back a title he doesn't deserve to hold! Miz waits in the ring for Santino, but is shocked when the most iconic riff in the WWE's history plays, and Bret 'The Hitman' Hart emerges! The crowd goes insane for Bret Hart, who stands and soaks in the great reaction at the top of the ramp, as pink fireworks explode behind him. Bret then heads to the ring, and grabs a microphone, and says that it feels fantastic to be back in a WWE ring after twelve long years! Miz however, rudely interrupts, and tells Bret to hurry up, and get himself out of the ring, because there's more important things to attend to! Bret says that he understands Miz's frustrations, but asks if he can imagine twelve years of frustration like he has suffered, and now he has the chance to put all that behind him. He's about to continue, when Shawn Michaels makes his way out to the ring, to a a more negative reaction than he is used to, an old rivalry now looking like it will be rekindled! Michaels climbs in the ring, and Miz screams in his face as well, saying he's had just about enough of this, but HBK nails him with Sweet Chin Music, sending him flying out of the ring! Michaels then explains that his 'dodgy eye' must have made him hit Miz, making the crowd and Bret laugh, before saying that he's not here to fight Bret, because he knows he has wasted far too much time doing that. He says that during the time between Bret leaving the WWE, retiring, and all those events, he changed, and for the better too. He found God, and realised that his behaviour in the past had been unacceptable, and so he asks Bret whether he could find it within himself to forgive him for the way he had previously behaved! Shawn extends his hand, and Bret then speaks, saying that he's not just going to forgive him, he wants to be something they haven't been in a long time, friends. He then shakes Shawn's hand, before bringing him in, the two sharing an embrace to the delight of the fans, before HBK leaves the ring. Bret then says he's glad to have moved forward with Shawn, but says that at the end of the night, he wants to see Vince McMahon and do the same, the fans cheering as the first part of the evening closes! Commercial BreakRAW returns with Bret Hart backstage in his office, when Randy Orton walks in with The Legacy. Orton asks whether Hart feels he has space on this show for some trial matches for his apprentices, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, to which Bret replies he does, saying he has perfect opponents in mind for what Randy wants to achieve. He tells The Legacy to go and get ready, because tonight they'll be in action against two very different opponents. Legacy look at each other, Orton barking at them to go, 'The Viper' staring out Bret Hart, who wishes him luck against Kofi Kingston tonight, Orton smirking at this before wandering off as the we return to ringside. 1) The Great Khali (w/ Ranjin Singh) def. Chavo Guerrero to qualify for the 2010 Royal Rumble Match.Great Khali really got the crowd going in this one, as Chavo pleaded with him to let him win, saying this was his second chance, and he won't get another! However, Khali had no mercy, and nailed the Punjabi Plunge on him for the win and the place in the Rumble.Commercial BreakAs the camera returned to the live show, Chavo Guerrero was seen complaining to Bret Hart that his qualifying match was unfair due to the size disadvantage he was left at. Bret says more than once in his career he was at a disadvantage, but it never stopped him, so maybe Guerrero should be what he was born, a Warrior, and stop complaining, and get on with trying to qualify! We then see Abraham Washington stood backstage in the interview area. He says that we have seen several apparent 'superstars' come and go in recent years, but the man who stands next to him is the epitomy of a true superstar. He then introduces him, calling him the 'A-List Athlete' David Otunga, and saying he's here to be like the cream of the crop, and rise to the top! Then, The Legacy enter the ringside area, as the commentators put over that it must be time for their 'trial matches'. 2) Ted DiBiase def. Evan Bourne to remain in The Legacy.Randy Orton was sat at ringside for this, watching DiBiase, but he didn't buckle under the pressure, keeping control throughout, eventually finishing off Bourne with Dream Street for a pinfall win.DiBiase went outside the ring, where Randy Orton was sat, before asking him 'how was that', Orton simply extending his hand, Ted taking it and shaking it, Orton looking like he approved the effort put in by his protégé. A nervous looking Cody Rhodes then entered the ring, as Orton looked on, before the theme of the World Strongest Man, Mark Henry played, proving that Bret was serious when he said two very 'different' opponents were in store. 3) Cody Rhodes def. Mark Henry to remain in The Legacy.Cody went all out on an assault on Henry's knees in this one, taking away the stable base the 'World's Strongest Man' had, before shockingly making him submit, using a Figure Four Leg Lock to force through a victory.Cody then headed to the outside, looking a lot calmer now, Orton on his feet, congratulating Cody on the job well done, with DiBiase looking on, visibly confused by Orton's behaviour. Then the camera heads backstage, where Bret Hart is in his office, watching the Best of RAW 2009 DVD, when the WWE Champion Sheamus walks in. Sheamus says it's a shame that he doesn't feature on the DVD, because he's the best thing about RAW, in fact, he's the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be on Monday nights. Bret smiles, saying if that's the case, why did he have to blindside John Cena earlier tonight? And if he's such a good competitor, how about he gets ready for a WWE Championship match against a surprise returning opponent, tonight! Sheamus protests at both statements, but it's all in vain, as Bret says he knows just who to call, ordering Sheamus to get ready as commercials come in. Commercial Break4) D-Generation X def. Chris Jericho and The Big Show to retain the Unified WWE World Tag Team Championships.Chris Jericho and The Big Show tried it all here, but it was to no avail, as just like each time before, DX proved to be the better team and tonight was no different, as the Sweet Chin Music and Pedigree combination left Jericho down for the count!Big Show simply left Jericho knocked out in the ring, shaking his head at him getting pinned. Then the camera's went backstage where a limosuine pulls up, and Vince McMahon steps out, greeted by Triple H and Shawn Michaels as he heads into the arena, congratulating them on their win. Triple H then asks Vince if he's heard what Hart wants to do, with Vince saying he has, but he wants to make sure things remain civil, and so he wants Triple H to be out there. Triple H looks at Vince, before saying he understands it could be scary for him, but this time he needs to do this on his own, he doesn't need him or Shawn with him. Vince looks at Triple H, and agrees, as the camera's head to the locker room, where Randy Orton is seen saying to Rhodes and DiBiase that he'll show them how much of a winner he is against Kofi Kingston, next! Commercial Break5) Kofi Kingston def. Randy Orton to become #1 Contender to the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. An outcome that the WWE Universe really wanted to see here in this two part spectacle between the two heated rivals Kingston and Orton, but for a while it didn't seem like it was going to happen as Orton was in control. However, a clever save by Kingston, who blocked an attempt by Orton to throw him to the outside by bouncing off the ropes, followed up by a monumentous Trouble in Paradise gave Kofi the win and his first one on one WWE Championship match!Kofi celebrated this huge victory, glad to have earned a shot at the WWE Championship, and moving one step closer to his goal of being WWE Champion in 2010! The camera then head backstage, where a car had pulled up, and we see a kickpad, the 'returning superstar' seemingly arrived in the arena! Commercial BreakBackstage, Randy Orton is seen holding his head as enters the locker room, only to be confronted by Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes. Rhodes says that Orton talks about them needing to win, but he lost to Kofi Kingston again tonight! Then, an overly agressive Ted DiBiase gets in Orton's face, yelling at him about stupid trial matches and how he should be on trial for being a terrible mentor! Cody calms Ted down, telling him to stop, Orton fuming at his comments, when Bret Hart enters the room, saying that while he knows the three of them have problems, they now have one less one, as he's decided to enter them all into the Royal Rumble match! He then leaves the room, as Orton looks at his protégé's, saying if they want him to win a match, they must do what they did last year, and help him win the Royal Rumble! Then, the camera returns to the ringside area, Sheamus making his way out for the title match against the 'surprise opponent'! 6) Sheamus def. Rob Van Dam to retain the WWE Championship. The WWE Universe were surprised to see this one, that's for sure, as Rob Van Dam shocked everyone with an appearance live on Monday Night RAW, and in a WWE Championship match at that! The former WWE Champion gave it his all, pushing Sheamus to his limit, but his all wasn't enough against Sheamus, who was wearing a red sleeve on his arm, ducked a kick and spun RVD around, before bouncing off the ropes and nailing a huge clothesline, dubbed the Fiery Red Hand by commentators to take the victory and successfully retain the WWE Championship. As Sheamus celebrated in the ring, putting a foot on Van Dam's chest, Bret Hart was seen heading to the ring, the commentators putting over that he would be confronting Vince McMahon live in the ring, next! Commercial BreakBret Hart then makes his way out to the ring as RAW returns to another fantastic reception from the crowd, grabbing a mic and saying he knows why he's here, and so does Vince, so he just wants him to come out here and get it over with! Vince McMahon then makes his way out to the ring, with a microphone in hand, and speaks to Bret, saying he may not know it because of the state he was in at the time, but when Bret had his stroke, he was one of the first on the phone, checking Bret was okay, and seeing if he could afford to pay his hospital bills. He says that he regrets not trusting Bret back in November 1997, as he knows Bret was a man who could've been the 'franchise' whenever he needed him to be, and he lost a great talent, and more importantly, friend, when he betrayed him. Vince then says he is sorry, and extends his hand to Bret, who takes it and shakes it, Vince then raising the hand of Bret, showing everyone that he and Bret had made up! However, the mood soon soured when shockingly, The Miz appeared, pushing McMahon aside, and hitting Bret in the mid section with a huge knee. As Bret was on the ground, Miz headed to the outside, and grabbed a steel chair, McMahon pleading with him not to do this, tryin to take the chair off him, only to be tossed to the floor, before Miz layed into Hart with shot after shot from the steel chair, the spine of Bret being battered by steel! Bret is left motionless, as Miz screams in his face that he shouldn't have disrespected him, and that he made a huge mistake when he did, telling Bret that he'll rue the day he crossed The Miz! Miz then layed into Bret with more shots from the chair, until D-Generation X charged the ring, rushing to Bret's aid, a night of forgiveness, and repentance soured by a vicious assault by The Miz, who heads backstage as DX check on Bret and the first edition of Monday Night RAW in 2010 closes. WWE2010.

Monday Night Raw; This doesn't look like 2006 to me, brah! Anyway... An odd way to start with a backstage attack on John Cena by Sheamus. Glad you went with Bret Hart opening the show, and I liked that you added The Miz into the mix to change things up. Loved how he got drilled with the Sweet Chin Music and then Michael and Hart put their past behind them. That HAD to be done, couldn't have changed that. Wonder who The Legacy will face in their individual matches? Obvious victory for The Great Khali here, but I've never seen the point in Rumble Qualifiers anymore, since there is never thirty qualifying matches, and people get put in willy nilly. Happy to see that both Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase won their matches to remain in The Legacy, but the group is definitely on it's last legs regardless. Obvious victory for Triple H and Shawn Michaels as they have only just won the WWE Unified Tag Team Championships the night before. Extreme shocked to see Kofi Kingston defeat Randy Orton and become the #1 Contender, but I love it because this was easily Kofi's time to shine, and he was so over at this point. Wow, Rob Van Dam returning to Raw?! Is that just a one night deal? Either way, obvious victory for Sheamus, as him losing the WWE Championship would have been god awful, even if it is RVD's return to the WWE. Shocking end to Monday Night Raw with The Miz laying into Bret Hart. Despite Mr. McMahon pleading with The Miz not to do it, I smell something going on between him and Miz. Overall, it was a good show.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 5 | SYFY | 9/8 CTECW kicks off with the usual opening package and pyrotechnics before Byron Saxton and Josh Matthews welcome the WWE Universe to the show! They put over the main event tonight, pitting ECW Champion Christian and Vladimir Kozlov against Ezekiel Jackson and William Regal, and a blockbuster announcement from Tommy Dreamer later on in the show! But first, a Royal Rumble qualifying match to start things off! 1) Zack Ryder (w/ The Zack Pack) def. Goldust (w/ Yoshi Tatsu) to qualify for the 2010 Royal Rumble match.A great opener here on ECW, as 'Long Island Iced Z' Zack Ryder took on the bizarre veteran Goldust for a place in the Royal Rumble match. Despite Tatsu being ont the outside to even the odds, the Zack Pack still managed to assist Ryder to victory, with Baretta climbing up on one side of the ring, causing a distraction, Mendes distracting Tatsu with her beauty, leaving Croft open to blast Goldust with a forearm to the back of the head, leaving him open to the Zack Attack. As Tatsu suddenly realises what has gone on and slides in to assist Goldust, the Zack Pack makes their getaway, Ryder shouting 'Royal Rumble winner 2010... Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!' at the downed veteran. Then, in the interview area, we see Shelton Benjamin being interviewed by Courtney Taylor. Taylor asks Benjamin how he feels about being in the Royal Rumble match, to which Benjamin replies that he's glad he's in the match, because even though he's the Gold Standard, he hasn't captured a major championship yet, and winning the Royal Rumble match will let him do that! Then, Vance Archer blindsides Benjamin, before speaking, saying he will decimate Yoshi Tatsu next and qualify for the Royal Rumble match before going on to Wrestlemania! Commercial Break2) Vance Archer def. Yoshi Tatsu to qualify for the 2010 Royal Rumble match.Goldust wasn't on hand to support his friend Yoshi Tatsu due to him competing in the previous match, but Tatsu had little success, falling to the brutal Reverse DDT of Archer, handing Archer a place in the Royal Rumble match.Archer raised his hands, the 'American Psycho' successful in his bid to qualify for the Royal Rumble match. The camera then went to the interview area, where ECW Champion Christian was stood by with his partner tonight, Vladimir Kozlov. Interviewer Courtney Taylor asks Christian and Kozlov what they think their chances are against the crafty veteran William Regal and the powerhouse Ezekiel Jackson. Christian says that he's beaten Regal countless times, and Kozlov can match Jackson in power, so theres no chance of them losing tonight. Kozlov nods his head, as the commentators put over the main event after the break. Commercial Break3) Ezekiel Jackson & William Regal def. ECW Champion Christian & Vladimir KozlovEzekiel Jackson continues to build momentum here tonight, as the 'Guayanese Goliath' unstoppable in his quest for the platinum prize, the ECW Championship. Jackson put down Kozlov with the Book of Ezekiel to win the main event bout for his team.Christian moved in to Kozlov's aid after the contest, kneeling beside him. However, this would prove to be a mistake, as Regal ran at the ropes and blasted Christian with the Knee Trembler! With Christian down, Jackson moved in, picking up Christian, and dropping him with the Book of Ezekiel, before lifting up the ECW Championship above his head, Regal putting over this as the sight the WWE Universe will see in four weeks at the Royal Rumble! Then, the camera heads backstage, where Tommy Dreamer is headed to the ring in a suit, his blockbuster announcement up next! Commercial BreakThe theme of Tommy Dreamer plays, and the 'Extreme Icon' makes his way down to the ring. Dreamer reaches the ring, and grabs a microphone from ringside. Still visibly in pain from last week's Extreme Rules match with Ezekiel Jackson, he begins to speak, saying last week, he had an epiphany, and realised that while he to many is the Heart and Soul of ECW, he feels ECW has changed. ECW isn't what it once was, the most extreme, violent, and shocking wrestling ever seen, but instead, its where new talent makes a name for itself, and where we see the champions of tomorrow today. Continuing, he says that after his match with Ezekiel Jackson last week, he realised he wasn't the competitor he once was, and decided that enough was enough. Then, Dreamer shocks all the WWE Univerese, by announcing his retirement from professional wrestling! He thanks the stars of the original ECW, and the new ECW, and tells everyone that he's had passion for this business since he was nine years old, and he dreamed of having the career he's had, and thanks the WWE Universe, who he says is his family, and says he will miss every single fan! An 'E C Dub' chant then breaks out, as Dreamer breaks down and cries, taking an ECW shirt and laying it down in the ring, before heading up the ramp, where he is greeted by his wife and two daughters, Dreamer waving goodbye to the WWE Universe as ECW ends. WWE2009.
