First, I LOVE Mattel. I love the detail they take with the figures! But does anyone else feel like me, like it's almost a waste of time collecting Mattel figures now that they are going to leave in the near future. Now I don't know what year someone someone said that they were leaving (2013 or 2014 or something like that) But I don't want to do what I did with Jakks and buy all these figures just to pretty much start all over.. But I will keep on collecting! Just wonder if anyone else thought that. who do you think will take over after Mattel? Thanks!

Licensing agreements have a specified term as a part of the overall contract and Mattel is doing a fantastic job overall for the WWE. In fact, WWE has made it a point to acknowledge Mattel's efforts in the past as well. That being said, I can see the license being renewed and expanded going forward and personally hope that is indeed the case. EDIT: I used the term "overall" as I know some will complain about recent alleged issues such as shiny belts v. dull belts, rubber shirst v. cloth etc etc. OVERALL I think we can all agree they have done a great

Meh.... Sometimes i feel that way with the small amount of legends thrickling through latly, and the unforeseeable future of legends... but overall i wont quit collecting and my money is on mattel picking up a longer contract with wwe What i have got to do is quit making fix ups and customs out of boredom..... when mattel was releasing legend figures steady i didnt make one custom..... Now? ive done like 20 part switchs and made a handful of customs.... Pick up the pace Mattel !

I believe WWE and Mattel have both said they hope and plan to renew for many years after that... So, don't worry.

end of 2015 is when the contract expires. But Mattel has increased business by MILLIONS over Jakks, which means they will most likely renew. But who knows what's gonna happen 3+ years from now?

Thats just how long the current contract lasts. With the success both parties have enjoyed and what seems like a constantly growing relationship between the two, unless something major happens between now and then (knock on wood), then its a pretty good chance the two will continue to partner for many years more.

Barrin some crazy circumstances, I just don't see either company wanting to walk away from the partnership after this initial contract is up.
Mattel has a HUGE question mark looming over their DC properties nad they need WWE to keep their footing in the action figure aisle.
Being partnered with Mattel helps WWE with their PG image they are portraying right now as there isn't a more respected toy company in the business world.
Plus there is the money. Gotta love the money.
I look for them to resign early and extend the contract sometime next year or early 2013.

I have had to start collecting anogther line and get a model making hobbie to help with the wait. Which has worked so well I didnt pre-order the new Elites for the first time ever and am pre-pard to wait for them at retail or E-Bay America due to high online prices in the UK ($40 NO JOKE!!!) .

Ill just keep collecting and collecting til i have the entire Mattel Playset. Then it depends on who would take over and how they do. Im pretty satisfied with Mattel's job on these figs atm, so i dont see me buying anyone else after Mattel. As long as they nail a majority of the legends and Current Roster i'll be happy

although i love mattel figures, i have most of the roster that i want already. i feel like it'll be easier for me to pass on a lot of figures in the future with the rising prices and tons of repaints.
but i know i'll still be collecting mattel even when they're on their 100th rey mysterio figure.

Mattel started out strong and then started to milk the line for all the profit they could. Any of the large toy companies would do the same, introduce highly detailed figures to energize the fan base and slowly roll back the detail and selection to increase profits.
Hasbro will be next up and will by the end of their first year offer some form of a Cena mail away to get a Cena figure in the same style as the classic Hasbro figures. Everyone will get one and talk about how great it is to have a company that cares about what you want, and has a previous history of making wrestling toys after Mattel dumped all over you.

Lol I get your point but it is sorta like saying I'm not gonna enjoy my life cuz I'm just gonna die anyway...what if mattel makes figures for 50 years u don't have to commit to buying them all..also wwe could go outta business in 5 years and there will be no wrestling or figures...enjoy what u got while u got it is my point

It seems like I remember reading somewhere that back when WWF first starting producing action figures, Vince had wanted to work with Mattel from the start.
The line seems to be doing great, and I would be shocked if the contract didn't get renewed in 2015.
