I can't seem to be as imaginative with these figures as I could with all Jakks pacific figures. I only have one Elite currently so I can't test whether Mattel wrestling figures are not fun because of the basic line or in general.
I find them to stiff to play with. I don't have my Jakks Pacific figures with me so I don't know for sure, but so far I am disappointed with the basic figures. They are so well detail, the tattoo on Batista basic figures is so lifelike yet they aren't as fun to play as Jakks figures.
I can't do as many move as I could with Jakks figures and it harder to do these move which take out all the fun.
How do you guys play with them (for those that do play with them) and how would you compare it to Jakks figures?
I like the elites but it still look too funny for me. In terms of articulation, it was what I was expecting from the basic series. I do believe that the Elite series is better than the Jakks line.

I love to play with my elite figures from time to time, but I agree with you, I can't play with my mattels like I used to play with my jakks figures. I used to sit for hours on end and do show after show with my jakks figs, then when mattel came out I found myself playing with them less and less. I find myself displaying my mattel figures more than playing with them. The amazing detail of the figures makes them feel more like collector's items than toys.

Do you think it has to do with articulation? I hate Jakks figure base on one reason alone and that is that some Jakks figures can hardly stand. I need to go home and test how my old Jakks figure again to know for sure, but so far it seem you can't get the best of both world.

I love the elite articulation so I don't think it's that. I think it's more that I'm growing up a little more and I start to realize and sort of appreciate the awesome figures and detail that Mattel has given us and I don't want to play with them and possibly loosen joints, scuff paint, etc. I want to take care of my figures and keep them around for as long as possible. Where as with jakks, they're figures weren't as detailed as mattels are, plus I was a few years younger and I didn't really care about detail, I just looked at them as just toys and not collectibles.

That make sense, but as for me I still look as them as toys but when I play with my figures even the Jakks one I take very good care of it. I hate those kids on youtube that throw their figure around, I just play with it like how they show in the WWE. Also if I were to collect it, I wouldn't even open the packaging like I have done so with a few of the Jakks figure I own. I won't know for sure until I get home and tested how my Jakks figures. What I found ironically (off-topic) is that the Elite seem more for playing while the basic look better for collecting.

Honestly to me the reason is price. I remember when i found the deluxe aggression 21 jeff hardy for only $12 or finding the deluxe aggression 3 pack for only $10 at ross and i guess its something in my brain saying yah they are just toys play with them and display them but just have fun. But when it comes to mattel your paying $16 at retail and twice that online and you start to see them more as collectors items rather then, meh thats my 2 cents.

Nope I just found out the reason why Jakks figure are easier and funner to play than Mattel. T he reason is in the leg gap in itself. Jakks figures have wider leg span while Mattel are close knit so it harder to do moves like the pedigree and other moves. I will call Mattel and put in a suggestion. This is why I enjoy the Elites because you can make the leg go out wide.

While I'm in my 40's and don't play with my figure, but rather just display them...I'm not sure how that can be. Basics are just like RA's but with 2 more POA at the top of the boots. Elites are just like DA's but with 4 more POA at the top of the boots and the pivot ankles. Both Basic & Elites have a great range of motion than Jakks in the upper bodies as Jakks can't lock their hands in front of them but Mattels can. Other than a body slam I couldn't think of a single move an RA could do. Da's could only do lower body moves like sharpshooter/figure fours. And Jakks RA thighs are way to thick to be able to get a figure like this - So I would think that Mattel's are just as good if not better for playing with.

i grew up playing wit my hasbros.. then till about 16 i loved playing with the Jakks BCA line.. the rubber arms & legs were more safe and easier, and the plastic torso made it sound better on a bump.. just enuff articulation for play imo.. i stopped playing with figures when i was 16 in 2000... i love to display my mattel legends and some jakks ( got into them late in 2009 )...
Jakks BCA had the best bodies for playing... anywhen else agree with me.. i cant even begin to tell you how intense my "figure playing days " were!! like 20 candles around my ring for a kane vs taker match and randomly spray lysol on the flames!!....sick inferno match! damn smoke alarm! ( kids, be careful do not try that at home. )

Honestly I think my best playing days where with TTL's but Mattel are awesome to play with, the scale actually gives a bit of style to them like high flyers and powerhouses. If I where younger then Mattel would probably have been amazing (to be honest I could play with a nail clipper when I was younger and have a blast).

I did the whole pic fig fed with my Jakks figs a few years ago and have t say, Mattel Elites are sooo much better for playability than the Jakks figs were... The amoutn of motion and moves you can do with all the articulation... they are even better than the deluxe aggression jakks figs and the best part is the Elites are the same size as their basic counterparts unlike Jakks RA and DA figs
These reasons alone are a big factor in me deciding to unload a bunch of my old Jakks fig but the biggest reason is just overall look of the figs... Jakks were so Blah at times and MAttel puts so much detail into all their lines that its amazing And heres to possibly starting up another pic fed if I get enough Elite figs cuz even at 25 playin is still fun to me lol... I hope the kid in me never dies lol

Mattel elite/legends figures are BY FAR the best wrestling figure I've ever played with and that includes BCA, TTL, R3, RA and Hasbro. Everything from the articulation down to the small details makes Mattel the best.

being a BCA and TTL mark, I gotta say, I tried recollecting TTLs simply because I got a few TTL playsets and I must say that those, as well as everything else pales in comparison to Mattels! sure there are some scans that just aren't the best and Jakks did have some pretty amazing head scans but the figures are so much fun to play with! had a pretty intense match before of Rock/Cena (Rock Won) just for the heck of it and i find it more fun to play with Mattels than Jakks. Not to mention a lot of my jakks begin to creek easily as time goes on. Basics aren't too bad but they do have a limited fortay(sp?) of what you can/can't do. I had a TTL flair and since I have a Jakks funk I decided to simply make an easily flair custom so I can execute the Figure Four. Here's a great example of that!

They're the ones I played with the most and still do from time to time.
