I've been to a SmackDown taping like this and it's extremely awkward wtaching the show with tarps in the background. I have to say, it was awkward to me just watching it on TV and knowing that the entire untelevised side was empty...can't imagine how it would feel to actually be there.

Worst attendance in Chicago, that I have been to was my first event in 2005, the HOLLA HOLLA HOLLA tour. Only about 1 / 10 of the stadium had people, bare in mind, that we had just had like 3 feet of snow. Lol

Stop going to Toledo, Ohio. Problem solved.

Here is a pic from when I went to SmackDown @ the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC on June 15th, 2010 (so this is nothing new): Also want to point out that I went to RAW in the same building, and it was PACKED... so I think this a SmackDown issue.

Man Juice, it's sad just looking at that. I'd feel so disheartened if I were top Smackdown talent. They definitely need to do something, AND FAST. , I'd feel disheartened just working behind the curtains period. They should definitely merge the brands. That's an OBVIOUS problem solver.

Wow.... I had no idea the attendance was that bad!!!! With the likes of Randy Orton, Christian and Sin Cara, I was thinking the attendance would be just as good as RAW... I watched it on tv and it wasn't really noticeable.. Cleverly edited I suppose... Or good camera angles..haha.. This is absolutely shocking.. If this happens often at every Smackdown show, I expect WWE to only have RAW as their main show per week and get rid of Smackdown and that draft... Hmmm....... Hence a merger without the Smackdown brand, just like the good old days before Smackdown was born....

I feel like they hardly promote SmackDown when they are in town compared to RAW. Maybe that is the problem. It looks pretty weird doesn't it? I didn't even take many pics because all the pics looked weird with no crowd in the background.

Yea, I can imagine. I'm pretty excited about Raw coming up. Taking the fiancée to her first live event. Thank god it's not Smackdown, that would be like disaster date if they had like 12 people in the house. You guys think that maybe this is just an issue with advertising? Maybe something went wrong and people weren't FULLY notified?

I think WWE is really missing Edge at the moment. He was one of the few that could still pull in crowds.

Assaulting the roster during the draft and barely promoting SmackDown compared to Raw doesn't help either. Plus, the more niche your audience is, the lower it will be in smaller towns. SD or WWE isn't in trouble, if you advertise more you should be fine.

That's crazy, makes me wonder if SD! will eventually be cut

I was at the live Raw they had in Toledo last year and it was very much a packed house. I don't recall there being any sections taped off. Toledo fans will come out when the show is good. Smackdown these days is mostly full of less popular guys though. When I was there, the 2 guys that got the biggest reactions were Orton and HHH (though the HHH segment was not on camera).

Probably because there's only like 3 guys on the roster for the casual fan to care about.. Sheamus, Orton and Christian.
Easy solution.
Mid-Card:
Daniel Bryan Sin Cara Drew McIntyre William Regal Zack Ryder Cody Rhodes
Upper-Mid:
John Morrison Wade Barrett Big Show Christian
Main Event:
Chris Jericho (if he returns) Sheamus Randy Orton Rey Mysterio
Put it live on a Thursday with meaningful storylines and storyline continuity each week and I think the problem is solved.
