TNA NOTEBOOK
TNA talent coordinator Terry Taylor reportedly tried to bring in Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty as a big-name talent signing, but the company opted for "The Punisher" Andrew Martin when Rikishi and TNA could not come to agreement on money...
Martin posted a message on his MySpace page regarding his decision to sign with TNA: "I want to thank everyone at TNA for making me realize why I wanted to be a wrestler in the first place! Something that had been beaten out of me by years of politics, ass kissing, back stabbing, empty promises that never came, having to listen to 'Vince's yes men' because everyone there doesn't want to rock the boat... I'm not here to bash any other companies. I have no regrets, but in just one night at TNA I felt more comfortable than I did anywhere else." Martin and Heel Goldberg worked closely together during Heel Goldberg's days with WWE as a scriptwriter and they are close friends...
After Konnan quit at the Impact tapings on June 19, the company considered taking action against him for comments he made on national TV shows during the Chris Benoit coverage about the company's lack of financial support for his kidney transplant. Now, TNA is looking to bring Konnan back for an angle involving LAX, but Konnan has not expressed desire to return. After having successful kidney surgery, Konnan was hospitalized at the beginning of August when he experienced complications from the surgery. He is undergoing treatment to fend of potential rejection by his body of his new organ...
Lita was contacted about coming in but said she's not intrested at this time...
Rick Steiner is not signed with the company and isn't scheduled to stick around after the Steiner's feud with Team 3D is over...
Current TNA World Hvt. champion Kurt Angle will be appearing on Antonio Inoki's second IGF show in Japan on September 8 to face Josh Barnett...
At least 8 of TNA's 12 PPV events in 2008 will be held on the road...
King Booker's PWA promotion will have a main event of A.J. Styles vs. Joey Mercury on the promotion's August 31 show in Pasadena, Texas...
Petey Williams contract is up soon...
TNA's PPV events are now getting out on DVD faster do to a new agreement with iN Demand. TNA is now allowed to release the events just 60 days after airing on PPV. Previously they had to wait 90. The WWE only has to wait 30 but they have more leverage since they do 3-4 times the buys of TNA...
Sources say it's just a matter of time before the deal is sealed and an official announcement is made that TNA Impact will expand to two hours on Spike TV this fall on Thursday nights. There had been talk of moving it to Wednesdays, but Thursday is considered "a wrestling night" for some reason (due to Smackdown's years on that night) and UFC programming may move to Wednesdays.
I like the fact that most of this isn't spoilers of any kind, but if TNA hasn't officially announced it on TV or on their website... DO NOT POST IT. Thank you.
