This happened a while ago with Target buying up Zellers and its stores. Even Wal*Mart was getting on the action, buying a few stores here and there. But right here, business.financialpost.com/2011/09/23/is-a-target-coming-to-a-mall-near-you/ See if your Zellers is turning into Target. I figured this would be better for the figure collectors since we all heard that Target is WAY better at getting figures. Will it be the same in Canada? Only time will tell. I got a couple of stores in Mississauga turning into Target now.

The one from Cambridge hasn't had many changes that I can see but it hasn't restocked alot of things in awhile so maybe it's going to be a Target soon.

I didn't see it on that list of Zellers that'll be converted into Target. It'll stay a Zellers for a while.. It might even turn into Walmart though.

I'd much rather have a second Wal Mart than have the first Zellers tbh. Wal Mart always has better figures there, even though they don't get stock in that much.

Doesn't mean the figures/toys/etc. selection will be that much better, if at all.
They will most likely need a Canadian Distribution center that will be supplied by the current Mattel/Jakks/etc. distribution centers. Things need to be taxed/imported properly and it will most likely not make any sense to bring things from the US(at small volume) to re-tax/import them into Canada when there are already import channels in place that handle the large volumes.

well where I am this is a good thing. My city doesn't get shipments from wwe mattel figures so maybe a new store like target will. Hoping it will. And also since my city had 3 zellers 2 of them are going to be turned into wal marts. That makes 3 wal marts all together.

all depends on Mattel distribution in what they bring up and what Target orders.
i'd wait and see what comes of the stock when stores open.

I went to the new Target in Milton last week and thought it sucked. There is NOTHING there that makes me want to shop there ever again. I don't think they will last or be able to compete with a monster like Walmart,
Target looks like a revamped Zellers and that's it. Their prices aren't much different, that's for sure. I think the food section alone at the Walmart in Milton is bigger than the entire Target store. LOL.
I wasn't too impressed with Target to say the least. Im sticking with Walmart.

Have been there too just a few days after opening. There was an interesting article in the newspaper a few days later and they wrote that Target has not been expecting such a great response of customers and there fore have not been stocking up yet as they expected much less. Should become better shortly.
