Hi guys,
i know the title sounds a bit odd but for those who care to read this it'll get clear in a second.
Thing is,i've been out of comics for years now, or rather, i picked up some things here and there but didn't really spend much time(and money) on this glorious hobby for quite some time for various reasons.
Now recently i've been really bitten by the comic bug again and would really love to dive headfirst into it but the thing is, the game changed a lot since i left and i get dizzy even thinking about where and what to get and how to continue afterwards.
i always assumed the perfect method of getting as much as possible as fast as possible,is to focus on collected books, meaning tpb's or hc's.
it offers more than one advantage imo, it's easier ( specially since i do not have stores nearby to get monthly issues),thick books look more adult/classy on a shelf then a pile of comics stacked up and you get the feeling you're getting more bang for y'er buck imo.
however, i asked this once on another board and there still seems to be some issues with this method, namely not everything gets collected ?
so technicly, how much of the comic industry can you get through collected stuff ? when i look around online it seems like almost everythings gets a tpb or hc release sooner or later, would i still be missing THAT much ??
it's not like i would die if theres still some few comics i can't read in collected form, at least all the major and/or important stuff gets collected so i honestly think if i amass a paperback collection that i would still get like 80% of what's out there.
what do you guys do ? loose issues or collected books ? i must add that i do not care about value so that is not a factor for me i just want to read comics and have them in some form. i could care less if the comic is worth 10 or 100 bucks since i'm not looking to resell anyway and it just doesn't interest me to get into that value stuff.
ohyeh before any of you tellme to just go the online route...well...let's just say i'm not warm to the idea yet,i'm one of them old hags that still prefers to hold real paper in my own hands instead of glaring at some screen to read my comics.
