It seems to me that this phone is aimed more at keeping current users from jumping ship than attracting new users. If you're a current iPhone user and you look at the Android handsets and WP7 handsets that have far, far better hardware, you might jump from the iPhone 4. Now you've got a reason to stick with Apple and just move to the 4S if you're already happy with Apple. If you're already on Android or WP7 and have no reason to switch, the 4S gives you no reason to. Android and WP7 have comparable or better hardware, true 4G and more features. Yeah, I don't think it will get many new customers. I think mostly 3GS owners who never upgraded to the 4. There definitely isn't much incentive to get it, unless you already love the iPhone and just don't have one for some reason. But a lot of people crapped all over the 3GS, and that sold like crazy too. They will probably release the 5 in the summer. I agree with you on that. I think a lot of people will jump from the 3GS to the 4S. There are sheep out there who will jump from the 4 to the 4S for no reason at all as well. I think at this point everyone who is convinced the iPhone is the shiznit has one already.

I hope their stock keeps dropping so I can grab some. I wouldn't mind a few shares.

As much as I bash Apple, I've probably got a few shares in some of the mutual funds I own. True story - My grandpa bought a bunch of Apple stock a decade or so ago when it looked like they were going to go under. He paid like $5-10 a share.

I am eligible fpr an upgrade in Nov and was hoping for a larger screen iphone. I think it's the Galaxy S II for me in Nov. No way would I ever upgrade to a smaller screen under 4". Besides I have an Ipad 2 which I can do all my iOS stuff with (my music and games, etc).

Well, the 4S is enticing. I will be upgrading to that. March needs to get here. And they need to be available. I want it now.

Welp. I'm hoping Samsung and Google can surprise me next week with Ice Cream Sandwich and the new Nexus phone.

I find it funny that everyone on Facebook is like "iPhone 4S looks amazing! Can't wait!" Yeah, it's the same thing with better insides.

The download speed increase for the iPhone 4S (the HSDPA) only works for ATT.

The download speed increase for the iPhone 4S (the HSDPA) only works for ATT. Which has a crappy network and you won't get that speed anyway.

Well.....shock me. I swear they had said when iOS5 releases, the 3GS would be left behind. Will probably still upgrade when I'm due, because I normally do when I'm eligible.

It's about time they catch up with the Android phones out there. But I'll bet money they'll make it out like no other phone on the market has this stuff. I cam in here just to get a laugh at your usual responses to anything Apple. Thanks.

I was curious if you were already with iOS or were jumping from another platform. I've been on both, and just my personal opinion, I feel iOS is easier to work with. Sure I may have to jailbreak to change text alerts, but on iOS, I can set one of those 6 to a specific person if I chose. I don't have specific text alerts for people but I couldn't [at very least figure out how] to do so on my Droid.
