Gaunce is another steal in the draft. From watching him play a few times this year, he's just about ready to make the jump to the big leagues. At 6'2" 215lbs, he's rock solid. My best comparison would be Jordan Staal or Ryan O'Reilly, and more recently Couturier.

best picks in the draft in my opinion, who will make impact soon?

1- Nail Yakupov; if you haven't seen this kid, believe the hype. he put up slightly better stats than stamkos did with the same team. Unlike last year, when in my opinion Landeskog and Huberdeau had the edge, Yakupov is far and above the best available scorer

2 - Ryan Murray; he'll be ready for next year. I can see him playing next to jack johnson, but i really would've liked to see columbus move up and take reinhart or trouba as well. Compare this guy to Ryan Sutter or Chris Pronger, with an impact really soon.


Others, Griffin Reinhart and Jacob Trouba.

Not sure what Burke's trying to accomplish with that trade tbh. Gustavsson and Schenn now gone, not going to help their defensive woes at all...

In terms of a trade-off it's pretty fair in my mind but it gives both teams horrible reputation with agents IMO. You have Burke being a hypocrite and you now have Philadelphia trading away yet another guy whose signed to a long term contract. I think Luongo's off the market, at least I hope he is.

Rumor is the Islanders offered their entire draft to Columbus for the 2nd overall pick because they wanted Ryan Murray.
