*Looks at Flyers defense* ........Who's around? We'll be alright. Mez was a BIG unexpected loss. Darn shame... BUT I still think we'll be okay. Kimmo, Coburn, Grossmann and Schenn...don't get me wrong a Pronger or a Mez would definitely help. A Suter and/or Weber well...duh Honestly, I was not disappointed and/or frustrated with the play of the young D last year Bourdon and Erik Gustafsson played well for the most part. I'm looking at the positives. We still have Voracek and we get to see Coots, Schenn and Read go another season (hopefully) and we get to see Eric Wellwood fly again. And well... we have Simmonds and not Carter (personal opinion)...hehhehe

Lilja and Kabina (unrestricted FA) I wasn't expecting to be suited up on a regular bases... but with Mez going down that 6th and 7th spot was for the taking...and now even more so. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the team we start the season with...if THAT even happens. If things need to be tweeked I expect us (Flyers) to become active before the mid way point of the season. It's been a slow off season... I'd contribute that to the CBA.

I'm starting to really get worried that the season may not start on time. I was trying to just pretend like everything was going to be ok, but in reality...not so much.

Well speaking of the Winter Classic. The logo was unveiled today at quite possibly the worst time....right when talks break off. Looks sharp, really like it.

They'll be back for the classic as everyone is looking forward to it. Even think Konstantinov is going to play in the alumni game which is epic.
Flyers are screwed. Love Bryzy but just doesn't have it

There is no way that the season doesn't proceed before the winter classic. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if the Winter Classic is the first game of the season.

If there even is a next year, my guess is that there will be a lockout and the Winter Classic will be the first game of the season. Great minds think alike

It would be a great damage to the growing prestige of the winter classic if it were to be cancelled. I do believe the league will want to do everything in their power to make sure it goes on without a hitch. I'm Bob Mckenzie.

The following message to fans was issued by the National Hockey League on Sunday:
Despite the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the National Hockey League has been, and remains, committed to negotiating around the clock to reach a new CBA that is fair to the Players and to the 30 NHL teams.
Thanks to the conditions fostered by seven seasons under the previous CBA, competitive balance has created arguably the most meaningful regular season in pro sports; a different team has won the Stanley Cup every year; fans and sponsors have agreed the game is at its best, and the League has generated remarkable growth and momentum. While our last CBA negotiation resulted in a seismic change in the League's economic system, and produced corresponding on-ice benefits, our current negotiation is focused on a fairer and more sustainable division of revenues with the Players -- as well as other necessary adjustments consistent with the objectives of the economic system we developed jointly with the NHL Players' Association seven years ago. Those adjustments are attainable through sensible, focused negotiation -- not through rhetoric.
This is a time of year for all attention to be focused on the ice, not on a meeting room. The League, the Clubs and the Players all have a stake in resolving our bargaining issues appropriately and getting the puck dropped as soon as possible. We owe it to each other, to the game and, most of all, to the fans.NHL Network here I come

And so pre-season games begin their cancellation.
It's odd reading tweets about Flyers players having to buy their own ice time at Skate Zone. (Practice Facility)
