Richard Childress Racing Signs Michael Christopher To Drive #19 Car!Announced during a press conference, Richard Childress Racing has signed Michael Christopher to drive the full 2012 Sprint Cup season, driving the #19 Ford Fusion car, sponsored by Hunt Bothers Pizza. “I’m extremely excited to join NASCAR and RCR for the 2012 season. This has been a huge dream of mine ever since I was a little kid, and I know that with the help of RCR and Hunt Brothers Pizza, I’ll be able to do great things this season,” Christopher said during the press conference. Christopher has been racing for several years at local races in his home state of Tennessee, making a name for himself winning races and a championship. This caught the eye of key people at RCR, who quickly showed him to Richard Childress and Kevin Harvick, who contacted him immediately. “I saw Christopher on a few tapes, and he impressed me a lot,” Kevin Harvick said, driver of the #29 Budweiser car, and fellow RCR member. “Christopher will be a great addition to the team we have going in the Sprint Cup Series, and will get us a lot of wins.” All of these high expectations and pressure seemingly didn’t effect Christopher’s mindset, who was seen several times joking and laughing with Harvick during and after the press conference. We wish RCR and Christopher the best, in his rookie season with the Sprint Cup Series.

Joe Gibbs Racing Signs Matthew Anderson To Drive #00 Car!Joe Gibbs Racing announced they will introduce a new car, the #00, sponsored by NAPA, for the Sprint Cup Series. They also announced the driver, being Matthew Anderson, who will drive for the complete 2012 Sprint Cup Schedule. Matthew Anderson has four victories in the World of Outlaws, fifteen late model victories, and a K&N Pro Series Championship, racing all over the south. “I’m honored to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing,” Anderson said. “The team has won numerous races and championships, and I hope I can add to that, and I think I will. With teammates like Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano, I have a great team behind me. I’ve know Kyle for awhile now, and we get along great, and I think we both will be big contenders in the 2012 season.” We wish JGR and Anderson the bust of luck in his inaugural Sprint Cup Season!

Newest NASCAR Signings Spark Old Rivalry.RCR’s Michael Christopher and JGR’s Matthew Anderson, two of NASCAR’s newest signees are no strangers to each other. Their paths have crossed many of times racing in Tennessee, handing them one of the most heated rivalries that Tennessee racing had ever seen. Races were won and lost many of times, due to Christopher and Anderson trading shots on the track, wrecking each other and costing each other races, and off the track, not being shy about shouting their hatred at each other. “I’m not quite sure where it all started,” Christopher said when asked about Anderson. “I just… Don’t like him, and he don’t like me. I think he’s… just the biggest jackass I’ve ever met, and he probably feels the same way about me, and I hope this don’t effect our careers in NASCAR, but I’m sure it will with Matt and the way he is.” Anderson had simply this to say, “I can give you a bunch of sound bites, but I'm not. I am here to win races and a championship, by any means.” The 2012 season has yet to begin, but it is sparking to be a very interesting year, as Christopher and Anderson’s feud has not died down by any means.

Christopher and Anderson Test At Nashville SuperspeedwayBoth Michael Christopher and Matthew Anderson logged in some test laps today, as Christopher’s hometown track in Lebanon, Tennessee, at the Nashville Superspeedway. - Christopher and RCR teammate from Nationwide, Elliott Sadler, hit the track during the afternoon. Both men focused on attempting their best track time for about an hour, before the two started a friendly race with each other for several laps, with Sadler edging out Christopher to “win” the exchange. Sadler joked, celebrating his win, as Christopher laughed, telling him he’s lucky he’s in the Nationwide Series, so he wouldn’t have to lose to him at an actual race. Christopher tacked his fastest lap at 29.672, a little less than a second off of the track record set in 2007. “Today was a lot of fun. It was great to get in a Cup car and do some laps, especially at my hometown track,” Christopher said, before joking, “That douche over there Sadler beat me in our little race. He’s fortunate I don’t go to the Nationwide Series and beat him every race.” “You wish!” Sadler exclaimed, as the two laughed. - Anderson and JGR teammate Joey Logano hit the track later in the day, as they focused on their own times for the majority of the time, with a small shoot out at the end of the session, where Anderson finished about two car lengths ahead of Logano. The joking was absent from this test, as Anderson lacked any smiles after the test. Anderson beat out Christopher’s fastest time, posting a 29.152 lap time. “I still have some ground to cover,” Anderson said. “I was nowhere close to the record. There is a lot of room for the improvement I need to win the championship I’m wanting to win this season.”

Richard Childress Racing Releases Michael Christopher Before Season Begins.- In a surprising move by RCR, they announced today that they have released driver Michael Christopher before the season has even begun. "This isn't anything Christopher has done wrong," Richard Childress stated. "Everyone is facing hard times in this economy, and we're having it harder than we thought we would this season. We needed to make cuts, and unfortunately Christopher was on the block, as he's the most inexperienced and the newest on the team. We hope that Michael can pick up from this and move on, and sign with another team, and have a great season." "This sucks, to be honest," Christopher later said. "I ain't gonna lie, this does suck. It's sad that I won't get to show the people at RCR how much good I coulda done for them this season. No hard feelings though, money is a problem everywhere, and I was the new guy, so if I was in their position, I woulda done the same thing. I've been shopping around for a new team. I've got some offers on the table, but I can't say anything for sure yet. I hope everything works out and I can show RCR what they missed out on." Christopher said, laughing. "This is a very unfortunate situation," RCR driver Kevin Harvick said. "Christopher is a very fun guy, and was good to have around for the time he was here with us. He woulda made a great teammate, and I'm sad to see him go, and I truly hopes he finds another team to drive for and is able to show everyone how good he is."

Anderson Tweets Christopher's Release; Sadler Responds.- In the wake of Michael Christopher's sudden release from RCR, his old rival, Matthew Anderson talked about the release on his Twitter account: To add insult to injury, Anderson tweeted this soon after: Christopher has seemingly ignored the situation and the many people tweeting him about it, but his former RCR teammate Elliott Sadler went to his defense, responding harshly to Anderson: Anderson responded with more harsh words, which Sadler quickly responded to: It's obvious Anderson has no interest in making friends, as he has stirred up much controversy before the first race has happened.

Never been a know it all on the whole NASCAR concept, so I hope to learn it here. The Daytona 500 Ordering looks cool I'd say, but then again, I'm just guessing. Looking forward to the races!
