I think I remember hearing about an injury but just wanted to know why HBK was so quickly eliminated in 2003 Rumble, and if anyone has good pics of his attire from this match or other he wore it in . To keep this thread going a bit more after someone maybe answers... Who do you think should have lasted longer in a certain Rumble?

I think it was because he wasn't sure if he could still keep up a steady work rate. He just did Survivor Series, Raw vs. RVD and the Armageddon match with Triple H, and they wanted HBK vs. Jericho at Mania, so he did a small part in the Rumble, and I believe he didn't wrestle again until WM 19 against Jericho.

I just thought the whole thing was just to get Jericho over as a badman heel.
I loved the whole Christian entrance with Jericho coming from under the ring and destroying HBK.

If I'm right, in Undisputed, Jericho mentions this and says it was just because Shawn wasn't sure if he could go very long in a Rumble match. He also says they got crap at Mania for going over their time. In a classic HBK moment, Shawn's response was, "When you have a match that good, you can go as long as you want!"

Shows how much HBK changed when he came back for his second WWE run, because I'm sure that had something like that happened back on 1997, Jericho would've been held down.

I'm sure Shawn and the WWE knew by that point that he could go on a consistent basis. I think the whole thing was to get Y2J more heat, considering that he wanted the #1 spot in the Rumble leading up to it, but Michaels ended up getting it instead.
