I have always wondered about this, and I would like to hear what others have to say. Do you think Triple H had anything to do with Test's push stopping after 2001??
I just find it funny that when Triple H got injured in May of 2001, that soon after Test started to get pushed. First they turned him heel, made him a huge point in the Team Alliance faction, he won the WCW Tag Titles, WWE Tag Titles and WWE IC Title in the span of a few months, and then when Triple H came back in 2002, it seemed Test's push stopped.
Do you think maybe Triple H had some legit heat with Test?? Or what other reason would the WWE have in not pushing Test come the 2002 year.

Hunter ruined the push of so many guys. Look at Jericho. He was given a huge main event push in 2001 and early 2002 when HHH was out, but right when he returned, he squashed Jericho in a few matches and Jericho was stuck in the mid-card until a short feud w/ Cena in 2005. Same w/ guys like Booker T, RVD, and Kane.
HHH returning might have had some impact on Test's push, like it did w/ so many others, but I never heard of HHH having heat w/ Test, though I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Though looking back, Test started to get de-pushed a few months before HHH returned.
Test's biggest problem was that he had almost no personality and couldn't get over w/ the crowd. He was actually pretty good in the ring for his size, but for some reason he just couldn't get over enough w/ the crowd. Mick Foley puts it best when he says that Test was simply boring to watch. He never really stood out to me, and even after his big push in 2001, he couldn't get over because his opponents at the time, like Edge, were often better in the ring and had more charisma.
I thought that Test was always a good high mid-carder, and thought he could have had a good, long dominant reign w/ the IC title in 2003 as a heel. He was actually getting some heat for mistreating Stacy at the time, and having her and the IC title for a long reign might have been the thing to possibly push him to the next level.

HHH had so much say from the sidelines when he was injured its possible but quite honestly when he was about to return there were so many things changed to suit him its unreal.
Uts involvement in the nWo storyline His own involvement the end or RR 02

I always felt that Test was given chance after chance and just couldn't get past mid-card. He had a few shining moments (Test vs. Shane) but for the most part he was just a big guy who was decent in the ring. Honestly, I can't remember ever hearing one Test promo or interview...
Not dumping on the guy, I mean he was okay. I'm not sure if HHH had anything to do with him not getting pushed more or not.

Test has the best promo on the King of the Ring 2002 dvd
"What am I gonna do about the Next Big Thing?? How about the Next Big Boot!" or something like that like. It was damn funny though.
I still think that Test could have been something more. He had the cool factor like a Diesel, and could do top rope elbows like HBK. Actually, Test and Christian would have made for a sweet heel tag team and could have had a good tag title run.

Test was unless if you ask me. Outside his feud with Shane he never really did anything worth watching. His match vs Eddie at Wrestlemania wasn't bad. But really nothing about him said anything besides mid-card.

I liked Test, always thought he was a great talent, sure he may have never gotten to the top, but still, theres nothing wrong with being a solid mid-carder, infact back in those days, the mid-card was just as, if not more entertaining than the ME scene.

Yeah, if the WWE gives you TV time, titles, a Wrestlemania spot, or even main event segments, I think that shows you have importance. Like WWE is actually investing time in you because they think you have something to offer and you will actually attract fans. I feel like it wasn't that HHH was like "No no no, I don't want Test being pushed anymore," it was more like "HHH is back, we don't need to push Test as much anymore"

I can think of one thing, Angle was scheduled to win the Undisputed Title, but they gave it to Jericho. Kind of fitting since Jericho was the one who was 'responsible' for Triple H blowing out his quad in that tag match.
Also, on a side note, Triple H is the most boring, stale wrestler ever. He hasn't changed his look or theme song in over 10 years. He found something and stuck with it.

I can-all revolve around attempts to bolster HHHs face status upon his return. UT was meant to stay face and be apart of the coalition that faced off against the nWo(makes sense).since Tripper wanted to return as a face,Steph had Taker turn heel on JR.Stephanie in her infinite wisdom felt the WWE post Survivors was too face heavy.in the earliest plans UT and Nash were to square up.....again it makes sense HHH was also meant to be involved in the nWo feud(Kliq connection and all that)but he vetoed it.he has said this himself. the end of the Rumble was to play out a touch differently....with it being Austin and HHH remaining.fearing crowd division they had Austin eliminated a tad earlier than planned so there would be definite cheers for HHH.it was a sound move-the crowd was SO pro Austin and were disgusted when he was eliminated.they WOULD have booed HHH for putting him out.

I never thought that Trips deserved the WM main event w/ Jericho. Austin was still majorly over, and even though he was having personal problems, I still would have put him in the title fight and win the Undisputed Title against Jericho at WM18. Hunter just wasn't that over as a face and was very, very sluggish in the ring for the next year while getting back into ring form. Hunter should have just gone into the fud w/ Hall, as I think the two of them would have put on a better match than Hall did w/ Austin. It would have made way more sense to have Austin/Jericho, Rock/Hogan, Trips/Hall, and Taker/Nash at WM18 than what really went down.

I am a HHH fan, but his ME run from 2002-2005 was ridiculous, especially what he did to Jericho. Jericho never got a win over Hunter in 2002, and was basically squashed in every match they had. Jericho was never treated as equal to Hunter, and everybody knew who would win whenever they fought. Hunter burried him so bad that after dropping the titles, Jericho wasn't even featured on the following PPV, and was stuck in the mid-card until 2008.

you speak the truth.
the feud going into WM18 was HHH vs Steph.jericho was just there to represent her in the ring.
Jesus I hate her.

I liked Steph from 1999-2001 as Hunter's wife, but she should never have been involved in the HHH/Jericho feud. Jericho was the world champ, yet was treated as second fiddle in the HHH/Steph feud. Jericho even had to walk her dog for christ sakes. That hurt his credibility a ton IMO.
