Well...I got my Legends 6 that I ordered off of TRU.com over the weekend today. Glad they came with no issues. I passed on the Tornado figure since I got that a couple months ago from MattyShop.com. But I'm happy I can finally add the remaining 4 figures to my collection. After my order arrived I decided to take a trip to TRU here in town to see if they would let me get the free Rock figure since they didn't offer it online. Well I got there and they didn't have any Rock's of course so I went to the customer service desk and asked if there was a way I could get the free Defining Moments figure they were now giving you online with a $30 order. The girl went on the website and checked out the deal and after asking her manager if I could get the free figure she came back and said go pick one out and she'll take care of it for me. Well...they only had Triple H & Rock to choose from and since i have a Legends 3 Rock already I got the Triple H. So my last 2 figs I've picked up at retail have cost me exactly $0.42 after getting the Survivor Series Masters yesterday at Kohls!
Anyway...onto the figs. Lets start with the Defining Moments Triple H. Now let me be the first to say the only reason I now own this figure is because it was free. I never would have paid anything near $25 for this figure. Even though I've always wanted a ring gear Trips from the late 90's-early 00's the main reason I would never pay full price for this figure is because I think the head scan is awful. Now after actually looking at it close it has a likeness to some extent but I haven't liked how this one looked since the day I first saw it and owning it now really hasn't changed my mind. But like I said it was free so I'm not going to complain. The rest of the figure is pretty cool. The jacket and shirt are great. The cloth pants on the other hand are kinda lame...would have been better if they were molded but I'm glad they didn't because we never would have gotten this awesome early 00's ring gear Triple H that is beneath the clothes. The only thing missing is the logo on the boots. Definitely going to be displaying this in the ring gear and will have to pick up a different elite Triple H to put the clothes on to display. Overall the figure is good...but nothing special. With the below average scan for my liking and the funny looking pants it brings the figure's rating down a few points. I'll give it a 6/10.
Now onto the Legends figures. First up we have Eddie Guerrero. Now unlike the Triple H the head scan on Eddie is fantastic. His cocky smile captured perfectly. The attire choice is also very nice. The red tights with green, gold and black designs is a great choice for Eddie's first figure as it's the attire he was wearing when he won his first WWE Championship at No Way Out in 2004. Now like everyone else I never understood the whole reason behind the orange boots. They just look out of place with the figure. Looks like I'll be picking up the Elite Chavo I've been thinking about for a long time to do a boot swap. But I can honestly say the boots are the only negative to this entire figure. The great head scan and attire choice, colored forearm tattoo plus the debut of the Undisputed WWE Championship belt make this a great addition to anyones collection. I'm giving it a 8/10 but would be pretty close to a 10/10 if the boots were gold.
Next up we have the Von Erich's, Kevin & Kerry. Now I don't know a whole lot about Kevin and Kerry I only knew as the Texas Tornado since I didn't start watching wrestling until 1991 but even not knowing much these are 2 nice figures. It's nice to see that Mattel got the rights to the Von Erich family as Kerry was a big want for me during the Jakks license but they never got him signed. So when I found out that Mattel was making a figure of Kerry I was very happy.
This particular figure of Kerry has the same head scan as his Texas Tornado figure, but it's pretty near perfect if you ask me. He is wearing plain white tights and boots with Kerry written down the sides and purple & green stripped socks coming out of the top of the boots. They also used the "claw" hand for his right hand to signify his signature claw hold. And to top Kerry's figure off they gave him a blue robe with what looks like a white dove on the back. A solid figure. I like his Tornado figure a bit better but still glad to own this one too. 8/10
Now Kevin's figure is also pretty unique as it's Mattel's first figure to feature a barefoot mold. They did a good job with it too. I was afraid it would fall over easily seeing as how the Jakks barefoot mold figures wouldn't stay upright for me at all. But so far Kevin is doing fine. The head scan is pretty good comparing it to some pics online. Does the job. He is wearing plain red tights and like his brother, Kevin also has the "claw" hand mold for a right hand. The jacket he came with is a nice addition and very well done. I like the slippery material they used It's a alternating red & white jacket with a blue hood that has a star on it to represent the state of Texas. Not the fanciest of figures but it is still a nice looking figure for how simple it is. 8/10
Finally we have the Ultimate Warrior. Now I wasn't going to get this one when they first showed it since I felt with his Legends 4 and Defining Moments figure I thought I had enough Warriors for now. But after thinking about it for the past like 6 months waiting for these to hit retail I changed my mind...and I'm glad I did. The figure is PERFECT. The new head scan is incredible and they nailed the chest paint. It even lines up where the chest moves. Now that's a HUGE plus for me. Nothing bothers me more then when logos don't match up when they are spread amongst different pieces. And Mattel has done a fantastic job in this category on almost all their figures. The attire choice is of course from his match against Hogan at WrestleMania 6 and they did a great job with all of it. Everything from the logos on the knee pads and top of the boots to the multicolored tassels and wrist tape just make this one awesome looking figure. Now we all know that he never had a yellow strap for this particular title but I'm fine with it. It makes the belt unique to Warrior where a black strap would have just made it another belt. Even with the yellow strapped title this figure is still perfect and in my opinion probably the best figure in the set. 10/10
