bull buchanan is the greatest wrestler ever. The cause of my first infraction ever on WF. Let's face it, The Man just can't handle me just shootin' the Bull.
i implore you to tell me your favorite Bull moments, whether it be as Bossman's tag team partner, a member of the Right to Censor, or as John Cena's running mate, Bling Bling Buchanan bitches.
bull first entered the big stage as a member of the history changing stable, the 'truth commission'. as 'recon', bull was a key member of the group including the interrogator, sniper, and the jackyl. on the back of the 'truth commission', vince mcmahon and his company dominated world championship wrestling for almost 72 straight weeks in the ratings. with their trademark music and style the 'truth commission' attracted the viewers attentions like no other group ever has. to this day fans can still be wearing their 'truth commission' t-shorts and giving each other the group's patended salute.
bull took some time off to find himself after the split of the group, and a largely disapointing tag team run as one half of 'armageddon'. 'armageddon' were poised for big things, but sniper's real life personal demons dragged the team down before they could wrestle the tag titles from the new age outlaws, forever denying wrestling fans their dream matchup.
after his sabbatical buchanan returned to team up with the big bossman, achieving levels of success rarely imagined. buchanan stole the show at success pay-per-views in 2000, as his part in the legendary wrestlemania 2000 match between bull and bossman against the godfather and d'lo received many votes for match of the year. unfortunatly the federation opened the show with this match, and the crowd could never get back into the rest of the show after the display of athletism they were treated to in the first match truly defined the sport of wrestling to them. buchanan and the bossman went on to defeat former world champion ron simmons and former world wrestling entertainment champion john bradshaw layfield at the next pay per view event backlash, showing bull to be a top contender for the title.
soon after this, bull split from mentor bossman. this only futhered his career though, as bull advanced far into the king of the ring 2000 tournament before politics lead to an upset win at the last second by crash holly. at this same time mr. buchanan cleanly defeated future undisputed champion of the world chris jericho. things were looking up for bull as he aligned himself with the 'right to censor' faction. it was bull's allegiance to this group that links them with the 'truth commission', and often gives fans the oppurtunity to debate which stable was truly the most dominate.
i think we all remember where we were the day that the goodfather and barry b. buchanan won the world wrestling federation tag team championships from the legendary hardy boyz. bull showed a champion's heart as he and charles wright defeated all challangers in their way. the were on their way to a 5 year run as champions when tragedy struck and the federation decided instead to not go in that direction. it was then bull could see the writing on the wall with his future in the business.
after spending time in the number one company in all of wrestling, ohio valley wrestling, buchanan decided to give one last chance to what was now world wrestling entertainment. he returned as B-2, or bling bling buchanan, aligning himself with future multiple time champion john cena. buchanan was the star with cena acting as his student, and it showed with extremely loud reaction to bull and his matches. finally buchanan had found his niche and was ready for a long 10 year run as world heavyweight champion. unfortunatly the wwe invested much in cena and decided inspite of his much louder reactions that they would push cena as the next star instead of buchanan. buchanan had been penciled in as winning the us title, the wwe spinner title, and starring the marine but all of this was changed. cena rode buchanan's coat tails and stole his spot in another example of the backstage politics that plague our sport. buchanan was even scheduled to win the 2003 royal rumble as a consolation for not recieving the push cena got, but he was accidentally eliminated as the company scrambled and put together a scenario where lesnar won. another embarrassing moment for a once proud company, something buchanan could only laugh about with his millions of dollars in merchandise sales as his consolation. fans still have their 'bull horns' that they bring to matches all over the world.
since his release from world wrestling entertainment bull buchanan has fallen from the public eye, but he is not forgotten. despite the bad blood that exsits between him and the company it is expected to be announced the buchanan will be inducted into the wwe hall of fame next year as the only entrant. the company decided not to embarrass anyone else's legacy by putting it side by side next to one of wrestling most historic figures. buchanan may not be in the public eye but even at age 40 he continues to be a beacon of light on the world. buchanan has dedicated his life to fighting world hunger, breast cancer, and the terrorists. a hero to us all and a champion in our hearts, we root for bull buchanan because he is all that is right in the world. and he may be the only thing still right in this world.
