My wife and I are planning a trip to NYC in June and figured there might be some locals on here or someone with better knowledge than me on a few questions I have. We are planning on driving and I was wondering where the best location outside of NYC would be to stay as the hotels I have looked at that are in downtown are very pricey. I don't like the idea of driving in downtown nyc so walking/taxi/subway is my plan. Wondering how far out the subway goes outside of nyc thinking maybe that we could take it into nyc. Any help is appreciated! Also she is wanting to go to wicked does anyone know if it is really that great?

I live out in Queens, it's about 20 minutes to midtown Manhattan by train, there's a few smaller hotels in my neighborhood too.

You might find cheaper hotels if you stay in Long Island but if you traveling back and forth to the city then you better off just staying there.

You could stay in my hometown of Hasbrouck Heights, about 20 minutes from midtown Manhattan.
