Hello, I two am 27, I had missed out on a lot of figs when they 1st came out as then i was decided that i was not going to buy any of them, but then i bought SDCC Undertaker i was so amazed by it that i slowly started collecting them so far ive spent a good $300 bucks or a bit more on them because its hard and pricey finding some of them new in packaged but they are proudly displayed on my wall, If you have the money I say go for it, and take advantage of any sales or deals you might see at your local stores or even Ebay an Amazon.

I'm 30 and didn't start collecting Mattel's til last November. I had collected Jakks since they began making TTL's. I was hesitant at first to start over with a new company and rebuild a roster, but when i finally picked up a Best of 2010 Elite Triple H and saw how amazingly it was done I was hooked. Here we are a year later and I have over 75+ elites and Legends. The classifieds here have helped me in a big way. I have traded the vast majority of my Jakks collection for Mattel's and haven't regretted it once.

Crush, did you see that at the end of page one? The Mattel Design Team commented on this thread. They're actually reading this stuff about their figures. That's probably why these have improved in so many ways over the Jakks CS line; they've seen/heard the complaints.
If you got the money and the desire to start anew, Mattel's WWE line is probably the best line of figures out there -- nostalgia aside (hasbros). If I could see into the future I'd love to see my collection in five years! This line has way more ahead than it does in the past. It's not too late to start.

Mattel figures are some of my favorite wrestling figures. The only thing thats really lacking is the managers, announcers, and some of the gimmick wrestlers jobbers, obscure ones. I think if those few things start hitting there going to be the best figures just because of the scale that guys are in scale with each other.
The only thing where Jakks is slightly better is they took more chances on managers, announcers and the obscure.
With Mattel there are guys that I've actually had to buy multiples of just because of how much better they are.
It really is worth starting this line you won't regret it

So all you've seen posted about is the good so far about why you should collect. But I'd like to point out one thing.
The Mattel line is great and all but it's still plagued by a major problem in distribution. If your looking to start picking things up in your local area you should probably go out and take a look to see what it's like first. Some places seem to get everything quickly, some seem to take forever to get new stuff and sometimes a complete series will just get skipped over and you will never see them locally. Of course you can always order online but be prepared to spend more than you would at retail a lot of times.

If your interested in legends I think it wouldn't be worth investing in Mattel now that legends have dryed up in retail. Basically legends will only be an online item with sales predicting the future of legends as an online exclusive. But if you enjoy modern WWE I would say collect the figures!

In all honesty if you have to ask I would say no. If you think the figures are cool but you have fears of scale changing or Mattel not making everyone you want or even Mattel losing the license in a few years then you should not start collecting the line because with each figure you buy there will be buyer's remorse and every rumor about a line ending will send you into a panic.
Figure collecting is about building a collection of a brand or series until it ends and moving on to the next. If you feel like it would be to much to start another collection then just stick to the first and work on making it the most complete collection you can.

Crush,
I collected towards the end of the attitude era, 00-01. The first set I picked up was the Jakks, Guerrero, Saturn, Raven, Richards, etc... I purchased around 30 figures, and then realized I just couldn't afford it.
FF 10 years later, and I'm enthralled with Mattel. They do a great job. The figures look outstanding. Mattel communicates with us fans on the boards. Even though I'm more of a "lurker" w/o a lot of posts, I read daily.

Best looking Wrestling figures Made from the paint, to the scale, to the detail, its absolutely amazing best quality WWE Figures regardless of the price. When they are fixed up ten times better looking. Im 29 now and I sold or gave away all my jakks WWE figures because when Put in comparison Mattel Figures are truly ELITE TO JAKKS WWE PRODUCTS.

They are well worth it, IMO! The Mattel WWE line is the best-looking one I've collected. The scale alone is awesome but they're also nicely detailed and they keep getting better each year. One nice thing about coming into the collection late is that you can pick out the best versions of your favorite Superstars. For example, the latest Miz, Undertaker, Triple H, John Cena, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes figures are a lot better than their earlier releases. I'd recommend picking up the newest figures and working backwards to fill in any gaps.
Overall, this is a fun collection...You'll really see it when you put a couple of figures next to each other! I hope this helps!

Go for it. I started collecting in January of 2011 and I missed out on some of the first Mattel figures of ones who are now released such as The Hurricane and Mike Knox. For one thing all of Mattel's figures are in scale with each other. Mattel figures have tighter joints than Jakks figures. Mattel's figures don't look cartoonish compared to Jakks. When it comes to rings, Mattel pwns Jakks. With Mattel's rings, the ropes are pre tied. Whereas Jakks rings they are not. Mattel's Ring Posts are sturdier too and they don't cave in like Jakks ones do. The ring decals actually stick compared to Jakks ones. So yeah Mattel wins over Jakks.
