Back about twenty-five years ago is when I had my career actually begin in World Wrestling Entertainment... my journey was actually, well, pretty intense. I sit here at fifty-two years old now, looking back on those days baffled. Behind the backs of most fellow employees, who I won't call exactly by name - but you can probably figure it out if you got the knowledge - and some top guys in the company. For somebody getting a big fat check every week, increasing as the years went along, people would murmur things like, "He's turning into Shawn Michaels..." and I would just keep strolling along and attempting to ignore it. I succeeded for a while.
The name is Jackson Adams. But I prefer to be called Jax, and that's my ring name too. I was born on April 5, 1985 and grew up in the suburbs of Seattle. My family loved the wrestling business and I was growing right into it in the nineties. When I got to age eighteen I knew I had to get involved. Even though I had a C average and could of gotten into a decent college, and my folks were jamming it down my throat to get involved, I avoided it and went into wrestling training. I competed in independent federations starting in 2004 and about five years later I was in Florida Championship Wrestling, competing against other guys with hopes and dreams of becoming a top World Wrestling Entertainment superstar. Which brings me to my starting point of the year 2012 - where I, Jax Adams, got my call up.
I competed in a few dark matches and had a couple of short promos airing on Raw and Smackdown, talking about coming into the WWE and showing off all the skills I got and making my way to the top. But once I got to the main roster, making my debut on the January 24th taping of Smackdown, I was told to job to Wade Barrett. Now, man, I was pretty unhappy about that I tell you. I did all this hard work and dedication just to show up and lose within two minutes? Wade was pretty nice about it though and let me get a few moves in on him and show a bit of what I got. As the weeks kept going by, I was still jobbing out every single week. As WrestleMania was coming around the corner, I was watching in the locker room with a bunch of other low-rank guys. I still felt the lowest of them all, though. We watched all the great matches and the main event of The Rock versus John Cena, seeing Cena pull out the win. After it was all said and done I shook the hands of both men as they were packing up and saying their good-byes to everyone, and I John pulled off to the side for just a moment.
"Man, I remember seeing you back in 2002 and debuting up against Kurt Angle and showing off your stuff. Now look at you - the biggest in the business. When I debuted a couple of months ago, I got two minutes to shine by jobbing out. I've been a big fan for a big number of years, and I know what happens to guys like me after a while. What can I do to prove to these guys I am more than just a face to beat down?" I felt like I was sort of ranting, and maybe asking too much of John. But he put a smile on his face, sat me down, and told me what he could. "My advice to you, my friend, would be to confront the big man. Tell him that you want to show him everything you got, to give you a chance." I nodded and told him I'd do that, but before I could thank him and walk away he gave me one more key thing of advice that I should have listened to, "I'm not an expert as big of a name as I am, man. But here' s a little bit of advice that I've learned over the years very well: There's consequences for everything you do in this business, kid, so make sure you do the right things." It's quite a shame I didn't realize what John said to me that day was absolutely true until it was all said and done... now I'm the one sitting here reflecting on a career that could of been, and looking at what John's was.

Awesome concept dude. I'll be reading. It'll be interesting to see how you pull this off, it being set in the future.

Really liking the look of this. Nice concept in reflecting on your career and I like that you seem to be taking the approach of someone who wasn't a super duper star, rather being someone who is filled with regrets and it'll be interesting to follow his story. Looking forward to more.

I showed up at Monday Night Raw the night after WrestleMania and Mr. McMahon himself was there. I asked to meet with him a few hours before the show, and clearly I wasn't that important as he never called for to come in. So I went in myself after the show was over with. He was preparing to leave and I stopped him right outside of his office door. I was about to rip into him for just looking over me as I raised a finger about to speak. I stopped myself, however, and remembered what John had told me the night before, "There's consequences for everything you do in this business, kid, so make sure you do the right things."
I pulled my finger down as Mr. McMahon didn't seem very pleased with the tension I was radiating off. He gave me a look up and down before staring right into my eyes, "What do you want?" His tone of voice was more calm than I expected, "I have to get going, kid, so hurry it up." I breathed in and out before speaking to the boss, "Mr. McMahon, I would just like to ask of you to get me in an opportunity to show what I've got. I've been sitting around here on the main roster since January and I still am just coming to each and every show just to have two minutes to put somebody else over." He didn't seem too pleased and was ready to give me a ration of you-know-what, but I kept thinking about what John told me, "I know I'm coming from way out in left field, sir, but I'm just asking that you give me one shot. I won't blow it. I promise you I can show you I can be a top notch performer." He looked down momentarily, stuffing his hands into his pockets with a slight frown before looking back up to me, "What's your name again?" I knew he wouldn't of remembered, so I politely gave him it. "Right, right. You show up tomorrow and you'll get a match on Superstars - I'll guarantee it. You'll get your little opportunity." He poked me in the chest sternly, "Don't blow it."
I arrived the next night about two hours before the taping for Superstars. I looked at the notice in the locker room of what is going to happen tonight and found out I would be facing Tyson Kidd. I waited for him to show up and he got there about an hour before it was time. I had never spoken to Tyson before, so I introduced myself and he returned the favor. We chatted a little bit about how things were going and I slowly mentioned that we'd be facing each other tonight, "It would mean a hell of a lot if I could show off what I got. I talked to Vince last night at Raw and I promised him I could be a big time performer." Tyson sort of laughed before telling me about his own personal experience, "I've been told by tons of people that I got a lot of talent, Jax, but ever since I debuted, man, all I've done is tag with Harry and compete on shows like this." He seemed to get off track as we had about thirty minutes before it was time, and I finally sneaked in my opportunity to give him the full permission to give me about half the match to show my stuff, and he was on board, and in return I offered him the victory - which he reluctantly accepted.
We got called for our match about ten minutes before the taping began. We went over a couple of spots and when show time came, we were ready to open things up. After our entrances, we squared off in the middle of the ring and locked up with each other. I snapped Tyson to the mat and we got back up for an arm drag from him. We had about two minutes of altercations of minimal submission moves on the mat before I fired away with ferocious shots and topping it off with a highly elevated dropkick that sent him out of the ring. I stepped out to the apron and dove off, hitting a huge DDT to the hard floor. That got a pretty nice reaction from the crowd. "You alright?" I mumbled to Tyson, who clearly sold it well as he gave back reply of, "Perfectly fine." We returned to the ring at a referee count of seven and I worked him in the corner a bit before letting him fire off with sharp kicks that actually really dug into my ribcage and legs. He knocked me around the ring a bit before giving me the okay to get my couple of minutes of fame in. I rattled the ring with a hard snap suplex and followed it up with a hard powerslam. I quickly made my way to the top rope and delivered a Randy Savage-esque elbow drop and went for the pinfall, getting a two count as planned. Things were going so smoothly and I took Tyson back to his feet, leaning him with a kick to the sternum. I hooked hold of his head to my side and rose him up high into the air, stalling him. I twisted his body about onto my shoulders for my finisher - named the Ticking Time Bomb - but just as we talked over for a spot, he reversed it into a hurricanrana into the corner. He stepped out to the apron as I staggered back to the middle of the ring and he nailed me with the Code Blue, hooking both my legs for the pinfall.
He celebrated his victory as I rolled out of the ring, selling my way to the back as I held my neck. I got a few pats on the shoulder from some fans and I waited backstage a couple of minutes until Tyson showed up. I shook his hand and gave him a "nice match" comment. He told me I had quite some skill and I thanked him and I headed off to the locker room. I stayed by for the rest of Superstars, NXT, and Smackdown. After it was all over, I began to pack my stuff and prepared to leave. As I stood, however, I felt a hand placed on my shoulder. Another hand came around in front of me and opened up, two white pills resting in the palm.

Don't do it JAX nooooooooo. Anyway it was a great diary entry and I love how you have been really influenced by John and you remember the key quotes he said to the character. I like how he stood up to Vince and finlly got a chance to compete in a proper match. Tyson Kidd was a good choice and from the sounds of it, it would have been very fast paced. The detail for the match was great and the pre gme talk was cool even though I knew Tyson was going to win I wanted to see how he would. I hope he stays on superstars for the next couple of weeks and he can get better and better by fighting some more"jobbers". I hoep he doesn't take the pills cause i'm guessing they are steroids or something and he chooses good path that doesn't destroy his career and life. Looking forward to it and seeing where this goes. Great diary.

I'm liking this so far AJ. Your a good writer and that shines thoughout the entries. I don't really feel like Jax Adams is a good name for a big superstar (if thats where your going) seems a little indy to me but that might just be my opinion. Everything seems realistic so far, all the characters reacting the way they did. Having a diary looking back on the career is a really good idea but in the recent update you stumbled into the present day at times. Don't know if you meant that but it needs to be clearer that your looking back as a 50 yr old not just looking back from the night after. Good luck and please keep this up.

The hand in front of me with the pills resting in it's palm stayed still. I pushed away the wrist and turned to a man, (as explained previously, I won't name names in these situations to avoid controversy) who we'll call 'Bill'. My eyes peered down at the pills as and then shifted up to his face, "What the hell is this?" Bill chuckled as to how oblivious I was at that point, "Painkillers, kid, they take that sweet pain brought back from the ring away no problem-o." He took hold of my wrist, propped my hand open and dropped the two pills into it. With a pat on the shoulder he walked out of the room and I stood their motionless, not sure what to do.
Plenty of other superstars roamed around, getting all of their stuff together and getting prepared to get to the hotel for the night before hitting the road again in the morning. I was going to catch a flight back home as I was told I wasn't needed for the house shows for the week - which didn't surprise me. I stuffed the pills into my pocket and grabbed my bags and left the building. I got a taxi ride to the airport and within just a couple of hours I was boarding the plane back home to Washington for the next few days. Man, was my neck killing me as I sat on that plane with no passengers next to me. As the stewardess was passing by, I requested a glass of water. She got that to me rather quickly and I took a few sips before remembering the pills. My mind was racing at that point.
"You know this sh*t ain't good for you" was the good side of my conscience was telling me, and on the other side I was getting, "Your neck is killing you! Just take the pills and relax the rest of the way home!" I decided to listen to the good side, but after about fifteen minutes of more pain and non-ability to fall asleep, I reached into my pocket and slowly pulled the pills free. I stared at them as my hand was cupped around them so there wasn't anybody able to see them. After a few looks around, I brought them up to my mouth and drained them down with my water. Never the best pill taker, I started to cough a bit and continued to drink and drink until I contained myself. The stewardess returned and asked if I was alright, to which I replied - "fantastic" - and I thought I was, as I easily drowsed off to a deep sleep.

First of all, the backstory for this was absolutely brilliant. It honestly felt like a documentary interview with an old, beat up wrestler which I imagine was quite hard to capture. The 2 entries have had me hooked from start to finish, the emotion of how bad Jax felt after taking the pills as well as the brilliant match report has gained you a new reader. Keep up the great work man.

Just read this, and man is this intriguing. A really interesting starting point, with it being a retrospective on the career of a lower card WWE guy. Keep this going, man, and I'll keep reading.

Intresting turn of events. Liking the way the story turned. You make Jax a good character despite his decision to start popping pills, which is hard to do. It's all nice and easy to read like the other update. And makes me want to read on. Could have left with a clinghanger or mentioned somewhere in there what you were upto next but I liked the ending you had. Just wonder where you'll go next with this. Once again theres problem with tenses because of you writing from the older self but thats nothing really. Good luck and keep this up.
