they put a clause in the wrestlers contracts that prohibit them from breaking kayfabe? Also make the writers not allowed to leak storylines.
I personally think it would add more realism and make suprises more suprising.

believe me if writers knew that they would get fired for leaking info they wouldnt. especially if they put a clause in their contract because then they can sue.

In the 80's a wrestler would smack the sh*t out of you for even questioning if it was real or not. I wish it was the still like that.

Kayfabe is dead and should stay dead. Its stupid and is what holds wrestling back from being taken seriously.

Kayfabe is dead and should stay dead. Its stupid and is what holds wrestling back from being taken seriously. Kayfabe is dead (as you say), and pro-wrestling is STILL not taken seriously. It's not going to be taken seriously either way, so what does it matter? They might as well pretend that it's real so it's more interesting overall.

We don't need grown men acting in an ongoing all day-everyday soap opera. But when the camera's on... you better make me believe that you wanna whoop the other dude's ass.

think about it. why do you think Nitro was getting 5.0 ratings when people thought hall and nash were coming in to take over for real?

Im a little concerned as to what people here define Kayfabe is, as to call it dead. Those on that side of the fence, please elaborate.
But to call Kayfabe Stupid? Thats idiotic and basically one of the most ignorant things you can say about wrestling. Kayfabe isnt just character when meeting fans, kayfabe is in the ring, in promo's, and on the website.

No, not in my opinion. WWE trying to keep up with kayfbe in 2012 undermines the intelligence of the audience. I think wrestling just needs to be so different than it was in the 80s and early to mid 90s. We have UFC, we experienced the Attitude Era and we have an overwhelming amount of reality tv so the audience has been exposed to all those variables.
Vince Russo once said he wants the guys in TNA to not be heel Or face and to react more like they would in real life. I don't like Vince Russo, and I think you always need a good guy and a bad guy, but I think wrestling fans in 2012 can relate to someone who is real, or a close extension of real. Guys like CM Punk and Jeff Hardy, both of which got over huge, are pretty much what I think of in terms of where wrestling has gone.
Twitter, dirt sheets, YouTube, I mean it's damn near impossible to get one over on the fans so why would WWE pretend they can? Well, they haven't IMO, they are embracing all these elements and working them into the show. I won't say kayfbe is dead because there will always be those elements but WWE is scripted reality television, moreso now than it ever has been before, and I think that's the direction WWE will continue to take.

Kayfabe is only alive with most of the older guys like Goldust and Undertaker.
