How could they possibly put the blame on Punk for ratings when there was 5 other people in that main event. I call bullshit.

To be fair to Mr. Punk, the Monday Night Football game last week was a pretty important/big game (Pittsburgh vs. San Fransisco, both playoff bound teams), and a large portion of the game was delayed due to a power outage in the stadium, thus causing it to run a bit longer.
I mean, Pittsburgh did get blown out, but it still would've had some impact on the ratings.

Oh god dammit, this is NOT ON F4W/WO. It's more sensationalized B.S. by that Daniel Pena guy (he made up the stories about Victoria/Tara and Benoit having an affair awhile back and later admitted to it).
C&P site hit whores and F4W/WO are not the same thing.

This was never reported in the Observer, not even close. Please stop reading crappy copy and paste sites. Just read the actual Observer site. This.

Yeah, for MNF to have two big market teams who are both headed to the playoffs is definitely going to hurt the WWE's ratings. And the power outage may have kept casual fans tuned in out of curiosity.

Report: "Orton loses viewers in his segments"
WF: "Oh Orton sucks, its the Champions fault ratings go down, get the belt on someone else."
Report: "Punk loses viewers in his segments"
WF: "Oh its not Punk's fault, its the writers and the other wrestlers he's with, give him the belt."

I'm not sure if it was the majority of WF, really. Me, slappy and some other people thought that and used data to back our case, but a lot of people just disliked Orton because he was pretty terrible last year and didn't care about ratings. Orton may be my favorite wrestler this year, as he's improved a ton in my eyes, but that doesn't change that when he's Champion, he's a ratings drain. He won the WWE Title at No Mercy 2007, the next night got a 2.8. He won the Title at NOC 2010, the next two out of three weeks scored below a 3.0. He goes to SD to save it from the evil Christian, and the episodes with Orton as Champ drew worse than the ones with Christian and Mark Henry on top.
If WWE thinks Punk is the problem (not something reported, but just for argument's sake) and there's somebody ready for the Title, then get it off of him. I don't think Punk is the problem, and one of the recent 2.whatever shows was a terrible Slammy Awards show with very little wrestling, but maybe I'm wrong. Before a few weeks ago, Punk as WWE Champion never scored RAW below a 3.0, and three weeks in a row, RAW's been there. The only guy who's had the Title in the past five years, is on RAW and never guided the show to below a 3.0 is Miz, so they could put it on him, but he would need to be built up some more first.
I thought Orton was a problem last year, and I don't think Punk is this year. I think Orton's title reigns on SD this year prove he brings down the rating, and before just recently, Punk had been doing fine as WWE Champion.

You can't forget Miz was champion around Wrestlemania time. Not knocking of The Miz or anything, but you need to put that is consideration, when guys like Rock, HHH, and Taker were flying out the ass.

He was also Champion for a RAW in November and all of December, January and April, not to mention the first two weeks of February with no big names (The overall ratings spike from The Rock didn't kick in until the third week, the week after his return). The big stars didn't start coming out until mid-February, and Miz handled himself pretty well. Obviously there were bigger stars than Miz on the RTWM, but Miz more than proved himself worthy of being the top heel on a show and headlined the only non-big 4 PPV that got over 200,000 buys this year, as WWE Champion.
