Well don't expect any pyro for the Royal Rumble. Ever since Undertaker's jacket caught fire in St. Louis at Elimination Chamber, they've stopped using it here. Really? None at all? I remember Undertaker getting flamed, but I'm surprised they've scrapped it all for that venue. Undertaker was literally engulfed in flames for a split second. It was pretty scary...never seen him run that fast while throwing his coat on the ground and the announcers made a quick remark saying "Undertaker not wasting any time". You could tell Taker was pissed throughout the match and i'm sure the pyro got fired too.

Pyro should only be used for show openings and Kurt Angle.

Well don't expect any pyro for the Royal Rumble. Ever since Undertaker's jacket caught fire in St. Louis at Elimination Chamber, they've stopped using it here. That's going to be like the first PPV sans pyro ever! Judgment Day '05 or '06 had no pyro to kick off the show. Not sure which one as I recall it went from the PPV intro immediately to MNM's entrance, and they competed in the opening match at both shows. Also No Mercy '07 didn't have pyro at the very start, although I'm pretty sure the pyro that went off when Orton was handed the belt in the first segment was originally planned to go off at the start of the show. Also, before the late '90s, it wasn't uncommon for PPVs to start without pyro. Last year the WWE used pyro very sparingly during the Road to WM. My guess is it's an easy way to save some money before the biggest show of the year, which therefore has the highest production value of any show of the year. As for less superstars using pyros, it shouldn't just be doled out to anyone. I never understood why they gave it to guys like Shelton Benjamin or Jack Swagger. Hell, Swagger's accompanying taunt was push-ups. Why do push-ups need to be enhanced with pyro?

Why would they give Wade Barrett pyro? It doesnt fit his character, and Pyro should ONLY be used for babyfaces, to get them over. nah, pyro has many different purposes. for exampe: kane in 97/98 and DX.

There was a report a few months back that the WWE were trying to cut costs a little and that Pyro was one of the things to be cut back on. I have noticed it ion the last 12 months that pyro is getting used less.

Never really noticed it until you mentioned it. I think Wade Barrett should get some pyro Yeah, like when he does this: skip to 1:18 Maybe its just me but it There was a big show like pyro that went off at the point you mentioned that would be ing sick! And plenty of heels used Pyro before so i dont see how that arguement makes any sense? Orton, Del Rio, Angle, Lesnar, Jericho and the Dudleys all used pyros while they were heel.

Well it won't make me quit being a fan or anything but i admit i miss the days where vitually everyone had some form of pyro, it's pro wrestling c'mon....it adds so much to the overall spectacle to me.
Specially the show openings to raw were always so great to watch and got me pumped up for the show, and the ppv openings were amazing, they should really never stop doing that. no pyro makes everything look cheaper, wwe needs it's pyro to uphold there larger than life image, at least imo.

I'm kind of mixed on pyro. On the one hand it's cool and adds a lot to the show. But when you are there live it's sometimes a bit much (especially when you aren't expecting it to go off). A few years ago I was at the RAW that Jeremy Piven hosted. We got really cheap seats and were pretty much behind the stage. We couldn't see anything that happened on the stage. So Piven ran up and we had no idea what was happening. Then an insane amount of pyro went off and scared the hell out of us. Then for like a half hour we could barely see because of all the smoke.
The best story is when we went to a Smackdown taping a while back. My friend had fallen asleep during the taping of the match for Superstars. Then Smackdown started and the opening pyro went off and he literally jumped out of his seat.
