That kind of stupid, uncivil rhetoric comes from both sides.. election seasons bring out the worst of people Social networking and the internet in general has made is SOOOOO much worse. I've seen everything from family fall outs to friendships clearly ending via facebook due to stupid political crap this year. Much more so than previous elections. The further along we get and more reliant we get on technology when it comes to communicating with one another, the worse it seems to get. The net gives everyone a voice and people have gotten so into the idea of typing things and sitting back and waiting on a response that it seriously brings out the worst in people. I've read some very mean things said about people, and as you said, on both sides of the fence. Things said from people that would NEVER say such things in a face to face situation. It's all about having a computer screen to put on their big boy britches and turn on that John Wayne complex they always fantasized about having in the real world but were never able to do. It's a shame but that's the nature of the beast we've become.

I agree completely that it does serve it's purpose. Yet there are way too many people who know no limits and don't know how to be their personable self without letting their computer screens turn them into a complete jackass. It's those people that irk me the most. I'm proud to say that I've always been able to maintain my real world personality every where I go.

I think I'm going to go vote tomorrow even though it seems pointless. I know everyone I support is very likely going to lose. Fluoridating the water its the big issue locally. It will almost certainly get shot down. The nutbags have been out in force opposing it.

Conversely, I know Obama will likely lose in KY by 10%+, but I'll be damned if I'm not gonna vote to keep this country sane!

Though this is primarily for discussion of the Presidential election, I'd be interested to know what some other people have got on their local or statewide ballots causing debate.
Maine, of course, has an open senate seat that has all but been wrapped up by Angus King (Independent), and the question 1 referendum for legalizing gay marriage.
I've spoken with a couple of volunteer workers for the Yes on 1 (in favor of) campaign, and they say they're quite optimistic. Seems like they're sitting around 57% right now, though I'm shocked it's that low.

Even though I support Romney and am confident that he will win in epic landslide fasion, IF Obama does win, I hope he really tightens up for the second term. This crazy spending, and growth of government has to stop. And same goes for Govenor Romney. If he wins, I hope he does bring about real change to Washington, rather than being a glorified talk show act like Obama has been.

I live in on the few liberal pockets of Kentucky, so I don't have many gripes with what goes on around here. I know my father-in-law told us to vote for a certain dude for the county school board but....that's...about....it....

Only show I like on FOX is Studio B with Shepard Smith. Either way, I'm not bashing anyone for there opinions, so don't try and bash me for mine.

Speaking of local issues, I'm really suprised that medicinal marijuana isn't on the ballot in Florida this year.

I just don't understand why people want four more years of the same guy! He's had an average unemployment of 9.0%! The Democrats in Congress caused the economic collapse (Affordable housing, Barney Frank anyone?!), and controlled Congress since 2006! A lot fell for Obama in '08, fine...but four years pass, nothing! Romney gives the greatest debate performance in history 10/03/2012 and polls still favor that Chicago attorney handpicked by George Soros?! WAKE UP!!!

While some of this is rhetoric and extreme, I agree on the main point - Obama has entirely failed this economy. Anyone who truely thinks he has improved our economy is out of there mind. 6 Trillion in new debt is not helping our economy. Even if you don't support Mitt, I don't see how ANY one with half a brain can support Obama.

I just don't understand why people want four more years of the same guy! Maybe because I'm not rich, and that the wealthy should a proportional amount in taxes compared to the middle class. Maybe because I respect women and their rights. Maybe because I believe in and support small businesses. ... But seriously, anyone who wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and nuke Planned Parenthood and FEMA is genuine scum. Cannot wait for tomorrow. Maybe if we're lucky, conservatives will leave the country.

Political choice aside, you honestly think Mitt will win in an "epic landslide" Why? If you compare the number of who voted Democrat and Republican in early voting from 2008 to 2012, the margin is far closer this time. Democrat had significant lead in all the swing states 4 years ago, and while they still have lead in all those swing states now, the margin is way tighter. Another factor I'm taking in that is that everyone who voted for McCain 4 years ago is definitely voting for Romney, where as Obama has lost some of his supporters. I think the Popular Vote will be pretty tight, but electorally, I see Romney getting the slight edge in Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. I think it will be a landslide electorally. But hey, I could be completely wrong. This Election is extremely tight and it could go in so many different ways.

A President can't control any of that really - look at Bush, President from 2001-2009, a "social conservative," did we move radically backwards socially? NO!!! The President has the most power economically; we constricted the economy for 4 years and gained NOTHING! Open the markets up!!! Conservatives want to cut taxes for EVERYONE; that's what fiscal conservatism is, leaving the markets OPEN and FREE! If you tax companies, prices go up anyway; the lowest class will be taken care of anyway, so the middle class is smashed up in the process! Paying higher prices and for the lower class with medicaid, etc.
