jesus, why is everybody is simple minded about this, do not dare blame vince for not bringing Hogan, Hall, Nash, Goldberg, Rey, Steiner, etc over right away and thats why the invasion agle failed. He wanted to do the angle, while the sale was still fresh in everyones minds. All of the time warner contracts were million dollar deals, that vince didnt want to touch, hell i am pretty sure if he bought all of them out, he would have filed chapter 11 the next year. he let the guys who were getting paid the time warner contracts wait out until the contracts were over, then signed for WWE style contracts for lesser amounts of money, Time warner and Ted Turner were Money whores who didnt even bother to find out who was worth the cash they paid them. He used all the guys who were under contract for the angle. it failed because the WWE fans didnt give a rats ass about WCW, and the WCW fans hated that vince bought them out, so they didnt watch. PERIOD 1) Where are you getting that we're simple minded about this? If you read most of the posts you'd see that we're saying that it could have worked w/ what Vince had. We're not sitting here saying Vince should have brought in bigger names. We're saying Vince had enough talent to make it work, but instead burried WCW before it even had a chance to get some steam going. 2) The WWF would not have filed chapter 11 had they brought in some of the bigger names. The WWF in 2000-early 2001 was more profitable than it had ever been before. Even w/ the failed XFL, Vince still had more than enough money to bring in a few bigger names had he wanted to. In fact, he should have, as he would have made more money than he could have dreamed of had he had some of the bigger names in WCW going up against the WWF top guys.

To answer the original question there in person that is still not listed that no one mentioned:
Jason Jett aka EZ Money from ECW. He was dumped down in HWA and sadly, never made it anywhere afterwords. The guy lives in my town, which is small, small town and I see him all the time at the grocery store and at Wal-Mart.
But to throw in my two cents about the invasion...
I do think they should have snagged at least a couple of the bigger named WCW stars right off the bat. They'd make their money back in no time from merch sales and PPV buys featuring dream matches. You really think people wouldn't take notice if they heard that Austin vs Goldberg was going to happen? Some of those contracts would no be worth buying though, such as Lex Luger. The man just was not needed.
The way I see it... bringing in just Goldberg, Sting and Scott Steiner would've done wonders and changed things DRASTICALLY. There would've been months of extra storylines for those three. And THEN once you think the invasion angle is over, bring in the NWO.
So many possibilities and what ifs. Personally, I think Vince just wanted to REALLY gloat for once and that cost him the biggest possible money making angle ever.

Pretty sure WWE was going to pick up The Wall's contract, but they were gonna send him to developmental and so he declined.
And didn't they pick up the contracts of Bryan Clark and Brian Adams too? Not 100% on that one

PERIOD no.NOT period. nobody here is saying he should have bought out all the contracts-it could have worked with what he had and maybe one more big name or two. and filing for Chapter 11?go look up the buyrate for Invasion-it was an effin monster... with Goldberg,Steiners and Flair it would have been absolutely unreal for Vince.I hate this "poor Vince couldnt afford it"nonsense. The Invasion failed because Vince had a mental breakdown in 2000, appointed his shithead daughter boss of creative and embarked on a in collassal ego trip when WCW closed that wrestling still aches from to this day.too many people(who were sitting at home)had their finger in Vinces creative book for this angle. and while Im here Vinces decision to bring in the nWo was not late enough.he brought them in the moment their contracts were free to bolster up WM18.I would have left it a touch longer.
