I watched day 1 of the New Japan Cup. The multi team matches were good, nothing much more to say, their purpose was to hype up their New Japan Cup matches. Juice Robinson vs Yujiro Takahashi was way better than i expected. Juice has really impressed me with his NJPW work, so i wasnt surprised he'd put on a great match. Yujiro on the otherhand, other than the girls he brings (NICE chick he brought with him BTW) i see nothing of value with him, but he did put on a great performance. Ishii vs Eligin i expected to be a great hard hitting match, and they delivered. I was surprised Elgin won. I was expecting Ishii to win. As for who i think will win, i dont see Naito winning. Maybe Tanahashi wins since they brought up him losing in the first round multiple times. I would have went either him or Ishii to win, but since Ishii won, i see Tanahashi winning.

I'm not going to watch the NJ Cup besides the finals unless there's a great match.

I liked Naito vs Sabre Jr. That match had me in the edge of my seat. Sucks Naito lost, but i think they were looking for upsets since Tanahashi and Ibushi advanced. Ibushi and Yoshi Hashi put on a good match as well, though im not too high on Yoshi Hashi.

I missed a couple of shows. Watched this morning. I am very surprised Sabre Jr advanced. Now that the semis are set, i think the finals will be Hiroshi Tanahashi vs ZSJ with Tanahashi winning and picking Minoru Suzuki

I just laugh that Tanahashi is gonna win it and go after Suzuki but he didnt take any time off after that "horrible beating" he took after their last fight.

I am surprised Zack Sabre Jr won the New Japan Cup. I figured Tanahashi would win and challenged Suzuki for the IC Title. If Suzuki vs Naito happens at Sakuru Genesis, i can sleep a little earlier, cause no way Im sitting through an Okada Title defense

I'm happily surprised ZSJ won and he's facing Okada. Should be an awesome match.

I have a gut feeling Naito ain't gonna win. I got Ishii or Tana, and I can see ZSJ as the darkhorse pick. eyy the Darkhorse won.

I’m honestly not a fan of the card.
With the exception of the main event it just looks like any random New Japan “House show” full of tag matches.

so why are Cody and Marty fighting GoD? More Bullet Club in fighting i guess. Would have made more sense for them to face Chase Owens, but then again who would have teamed with him from Bullet Club? I guess itll be better explained on Being The Elite.

For those of you who don’t have AXS, Sling has a free 7 day trial and they carry AXS. Just don’t forget to cancel before the 7 days are up so you don’t get charged. I signed up on Fire stick but I’m guessing they have an app with Apple TV, Roku and the video game systems.

Haven’t got around to watching it yet but from what I’ve read the main event was a solid 4.5 stars!

Bucks vs Golden lovers was the best match i've seen in a while.... the combined storytelling and wrestling overcame the couple missed spots and overuse of big moves some people dislike. i'd say it's a easy 4.5 stars, maybe 4.75 or 5... because as a whole i liked it more than Omega vs Jericho...

I caught the show on AXS and really enjoyed it. I think Hangman Page is poised to be a break out star for ROH very soon and his match with Jay White delivered. He needs more mic time though so he can develop his own personality instead of being the silent muscle for Bullet Club. I'd love to see a Cody/Page feud as the Bullet Club continues to dissolve.
The main event was great. So many stories going on with the Elite/Bullet Club/Golden Lovers teams. I know some think of the Young Bucks as the epitome of spot monkeys but I thought they mixed the spots well with storytelling in the match.
I may be the only person alive who thinks this but Zack Sabre bores the crap out of me.

The story telling in both BC matches was phenomenal. Obviously the main was the great wrestling match, but Cody was off the charts in that first match. I still don't think Cody's style meshes with the New Japan product, and it probably just never will because he sat under that Orton learning tree of pacing, but man, he's just so compelling as a villain. That main event though was off the charts. Once upon a time, the Bucks didn't get it. They just did cool moves and wanted to be the talk of the town every night. Now, they've mixed that car wreck style with storytelling and they are insanely good in every way. The story that went on between Kenny and the Bucks was so good. They've turned a weekly 15 minute YouTube show into the best angle in wrestling. Even once the match was over, and we got the handshake portion, we're still compelled by the story. What's next? Wrestling is really missing that right now. That desire for your audience to crave what's to come but the BC has created that imo. Best match for me this year so far. For the rest of it, I like what they did with Ospreay and the nobodies replacement bit. I think a match with him and Rey would be amazing. Both of the two matches prior to the main ran too long for me. I don't care about ZSJ vs Okada because ZSJ has a 0.00% chance of winning. He's also built like a mop handle. He's a junior until he finds the gym. I respect his pressure point assassin approach but it's not enough at the next level with guys like Okada. Hangman vs Jay White was just two guys getting main time who aren't ready for main time imo. I like both guys, but the middle of the match was dead, making it unnecessary. At 15 minutes that's probably a match we're talking about today. Lastly, I think Lance Archer is ing horrible at everything. I haven't been able to figure out why he keeps getting jobs since the day he left TNA.
