Day 8 was good. Sanada vs. Ibushi was awesome, defiantly a top 5 match so far.

Brutal match between Ibushi and Ishii. Great stuff. And the Omegaman comes thru again. Commentary noted three things after the match: no one has gone undefeated in the 20-man G1 format, the champion has not won since 2000, and no one has ever made three straight finals. Omega is 4 wins away from a third straight finals, and 5 wins away from going undefeated and winning as champion. Never say never. I feel that he may very well win the whole thing, but I dunno about doing it undefeated. At this point he’d have to lose, at minimum, twice to not get to the finals. Anything can happen tho, a losing streak could pop up at the drop of a dime.

Ishii vs. Ibushi is the Match of the Tournament of so far, what a great match. Sanada continues to impress, he is really upping his stock.

I’d say he’s a lock for 14 points at this point, though. Seems like Ishii and Ibushi will both be loses if I were to make a best guess. I think it would be really cool to see him go undefeated into the match with Ibushi to add even more drama to that story. I’m good with Kenny vs Tanahashi if that’s how it plays out.

Yeah, as I was thinking about it I was skeptical of the final match of the blocks having no implications on who will win the block. If he's undefeated going into the Ibushi match, then he's already won the block. I suppose the intrigue of going undefeated would be there for it as the final match, but if he does lose before the final day then you'd probably at least have him and Naito tied.. or Naito up by 2 points by the end of the night. Then you need that Omega win to win the block.

Ibushi vs Goto was an awesome match. Hirooki Goto for me is the MVP of the G1 Climax when it comes to putting on great matches. I was secretly hoping Zack Sabre Jr beat Kenny Omega. I'm still convinced Naito vs Okada will be the G1 Climax finals. Good match between Omega and ZSJ. Naito vs Yano was entertaining. Loved the spot where Yano brought the guardrail to the ring to avoid getting counted out. Tonga vs Ishii was good. I was shocked when Robinson beat SANADA. Did not see that coming.
I don't know why, but i tend to be more tired during the Block A shows than the Block B shows.

Probably because B Block is more exciting.

b block is definitely more exciting. theres more things going on... a block is built around that last night of okada and tana. they keep mentioning how goto snuck in the backdoor a couple years ago, on the english commentary, so i dont know if theyre foreshadowing something similar happening with jay white this year... but meh. it just feels like its okada or tana.
and yes, while b block is definitely getting the heavy feeling that its built around omega and ibushi on the last night.... naito, sanada, zsj and especially ishii and goto are knocking it out of the park in every match theyre in. even yano and juice have their own separate stories to them (juice's left hand getting taken away, yano shifting between sneaky style and his amateur wrestling) that gives their matches a little something different.

actually as i look at the a block standings... if jay white wins both his last match (evil and makabe), okada wins out (evil and tana), and tana wins one (elgin) and loses to okada... jay white would win the tiebreaker, because he beat both tana and okada. so maybe they are foreshadowing that.

Wow, Ishii was unbreakable tonight. What a match to knock off Omega. Omega’s mouth was busted pretty good too. Even with the loss, it was a terrible night for Naito. I don’t know who Ibushi has next, but Omega has Yano, so unless there’s a miracle Naito is done with Kenny winning that match.

naito has sanada next, and ends with zsj. as of right now, im expecting an ibushi/white final. i outlined block a a couple posts up, block b is easy... ibushi wins his last two, omega wins his next one, and loses to ibushi on the final night, and ibushi wins the block on a tiebreaker. good stuff.

I’m a few days behind on the G1 because I took a trip to Massachusetts for Beyond Wrestling last weekend. Catching up now and my god that Ibushi/Ishii match was insane. I’m still loving everything Jay White honestly. This G1 has been so good for him. I’m kind of over the whole BCOG run in the G1. It was interesting at first but it got old fast. Sabre/Omega wasn’t as good as I expected it to be, I felt like they intentionally held back. Speaking of getting old.....Goto just does not do it for me. I don’t know what it is, I always see people praising his matches and I just don’t get it. He’s not bad by any means but he just bores the hell out of me Compared to everyone else on the roster. I can’t pinpoint what it is honestly. I was a big fan around 2013 I believe when he was having bangers with Shibata. The GTR is weak as too... Anyway I’m up to Ibushi/Goto now. Hoping it’s as good as Goto/Ishii was because that’s been the only Goto match I enjoyed in the tournament. Off topic of the G1, lately I’ve been really intrigued by the idea of Ibushi/Ospreay. I feel like their styles would mesh extremely well.

I'm buying into Ibushi winning B Block more now. Still got hope for Kenny, we'll see, but it's set up perfectly for Kota. Gotta pull for Omega tho.

Ishii vs Omega was something else, When it's G1 season Tomohiro Ishii is the best in the world and nobody can touch him. what a performance and i'm looking forward to his rematch with Omega in October. Ibushi vs. Naito was awesome, top 5 match.

So, as far as I know, commentary has not brought this up.... what the happens if this is a 4-way tie? I can’t imagine it would, buuuut if Ibushi and Sabre win then they will all have 12 points. Thoughts? This night was chaotic. Perfect results for Naito, but he still needs help. Omega still controls his destiny. Ibushi’s only shot is a win and Naito losing, but that would also put Sabre at 12 with them all. So gotta be either Omega winning, or Omega/Ibushi draws to put Naito thru to the finals.

Ibushi’s only shot is a win and Naito losing, but that would also put Sabre at 12 with them all. So gotta be either Omega winning, or Omega/Ibushi draws to put Naito thru to the finals. It goes to tie breakers. Omega and Ibushi both beat Naito and ZSJ already. So if ZSJ beats Naito, and Ibushi beats Omega, the block ends 1) Ibushi (beat all 3) 2) Omega (beat Naito/ZSJ) 3) ZSJ (beat Naito) 4) Naito (got 12 points but lost to all 3). If Kenny and Ibushi draw, Naito has to beat ZSJ to win the block or Kenny gets it. It's the same deal with Block A. If Tana loses to Okada, and Jay White beats Evil, then it'll be a 3-way tie with 14 points. Jay White beat Okada and Tana, so he would win the block. It honestly looks like it's setup for Ibushi vs White to me, but Ibushi was my pick to win before it started. So it's confirmation bias based on the points right now. I just think Ibushi/Omega is the no brainer story for WK. I would love to see Tana vs Omega again, especially since their IC Title match had so much interference in it, albeit super entertaining, but I don't think it holds. I think if that happens then Tana is winning because otherwise Omega is just going to pick Ibushi anyway.
