I found out that Rick Derringer (who wrote & composed the "Real American" theme and Demolition's theme music) will be playing at a very small club tonight near me. I'm honestly debating if I should fork over the $30 just to see if he'll play either song. That's all.

I doubt that he will. Ive been to countless concerts where bands that perform superstars themes where there and with the exception of Saliva mentioning Mania 23 before playing Ladies and Gentleman ive never heard wrestling even mentioned at a concert.

If I went to that and he didn't play Real American, I would be pissed.

I would pay 30 bucks to hear Real American live any day of the week, it could be a one song concert for all I care

Sorry, guys. Tickets were sold out by the time I got there. I was tempted to just sit on the front porch & try to listen all night, but it was too damn cold.

If Rick Derringer were performing in my town and I knew he would play Real American and the Demolition Theme, I might fork over $100 to get into that show. Just for the sheer novelty.
But sadly, I bet he hasn't performed those songs since the day he recorded them. I bet he gets requests all the time though... there have to be as many (if not more) people nostalgic for 1980s WWF wrestling than for Rick Derringer's catalog beyond "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo."

He hasn't played them in so long, he probably wouldn't remember how to play them.

I dont think he ever plays the Demolition theme but he has on numerous occasions played Real American. Especially during concerts after 9/11 and all the wars.

I know Our Lady Peace used to sing "Whatever" at their concerts. And I am sure that Story Of The Year has played "Just Close Your Eyes" live too.

It was replaced by some awful generic music.

Actually guys, Derringer does play Real American live at his shows. Here he is singing it in 2008:
I'm pretty sure he doesn't sing Demolition though. Shame!

There is a youtube video as well of Downstait playing "I Came To Play" live too at a concert. And Our Lady Peace does indeed sing "Whatever" live cause it was on their dvd release a few years back. So bands do indeed play the WWE music at their shows.

Slick - from "Jive Soul Bro" to some generic music.... Hillbilly Jim - from " Don't go Messin with a Country Boy" to some generic country stuff... Undertaker - from "Rollin" to his 1998-1999 theme...
