I don't think we can "officially" kiss it good bye until Mattel "officially" cancels it

You know Mattel! That's awesome, what are they like? Nice at the start, then slowly they get bored with you, use you for your money. Troll answer for a troll question. Don't be so hard on yourself... it was a fine answer.

It's a damn shame as I like Legends even the ones I don't know. I've enjoy collecting them and the more figures of guys from the past the better for me.
.....dammit.....

I think the line will be done, sadly. Based on what I've heard and others have said the line seems to be a failure.
I agree that better versions of LOD, Dusty Rhodes, Slaughter, Snuka etc. Also making guys who appeal to kids such as Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Triple H and what not earlier in the line would of most likely helped too.
However, one thing no one ever manages to bring up is the fact that when Jakks were making Classic Superstars it was from 2003 until they lost the license. At the time fans were more familiar with the Legends and Classic Superstars as you would call. The current generation of kids couldn't careless about what happened in the past and only know of Cena, Orton, Rey Mysterio and CM Punk. The newer generation with the exception of Stone Cold, The Rock, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan & Ric Flair could careless about the Legends.
We are in a new generation than we were in the Jakks days and with the $15 plus price tag when you count tax, that doesn't help matters either.

The Legends line is doing bad because Jakks flooded the market with classic superstars. The would be buyers are happy with their classic superstars and won't start over. for a company that says collectors are only 5% of the market, they sure flooded every single store with Legends. My Target & Walmart & TRUS must have sold 2-3 full sets of series 1 & 2, and they just kept on sending em more, then enevtually they ended up on clearance and stores deeded them no good and didnt order more. Seems like they were being very greedy with what they wanted to sell and make $$ money wise. Legends sold just as good as current figs in stores by me the 1st box or two of each series sent out. Hell, every store has the same current fig shelf warmers all the time. But its like this. the Line got all F'd up for a variety of reasons. Mattel knows where tha mistakes were made. So, since your a billion $$ company, maybe try it again one more time. 1) release a set you know will sell (gonna have to have some Shawn, Cena debut outfit, Taker, Bret and maybe 1 obscure legend to start with, WWE is gonna have to allow this). 2) make the price 9.99-11.99 (seems low, but better thay all sell at that, then people only buying 1 or 2 or none at 14.99). 3) start with just TRUS, RSC, & Mattel's own website. 4) dont flood the market with them and expect massive profits. if we are 5% of the market, expect to make 5% of what current figs make you. 5) keep the flashbacks going as well, one current star in retro and 1 older legend. To just give up after knowing the mistakes made (ECSPECIALLY That Wacked out MATTY.com poll for the Legends) is weak minded. poll sucked = new poll prices were too high = lower prices choices werent great to get line off the ground = better selling line-up flooded the market expecting make bank = release less and expect only that 5% of profits vs current figs Finally, DO NOT let this horrible decision to do MATTY.COM determione the lines future. NOBODY knows about Matty.com. This had to cut sales down BIG TIME. Between the price w/tax & shipping and hardly nobody knowing about it, it was garaunteed to be a failure. they should have just went with thier own website and RSC. I KNOW This line could be revived, but you gotta want it and want to try again ,not just tap out. I know for a fact I could help get this line back to rockin again. And I'd work for Mattel for free to help do it.

If they'd saved their first releases of Savage, Steamboat, Von Erichs etc then they would have sold way better.

I understand people are nervous about the line ending, but this board has really started to suck because its constant negativity. If the line does end, why cant we just enjoy it while its around? Im thinking positive and just happy that we are getting figures still. I just got Andre the Giant (&ministry taker) in the mail today and this figure is top notch. Its the best Andre fig ever released IMO. I cant wait to add Bossman, rr93 Hitman, and Yokozuna to my collection. Lets face it, we were spoiled with the amount of figures and characters JAKKS produced. Lets just enjoy it while we got it, and if we really love the line so much lets just support it.

That would've probably been a HUGE seller. I think it would've sold out the same day. Macho Man has been a must have and Jakks had never made it so I could see if his first figure in over a decade being a HUGE deal.

The line died the second that The Rockers accidentally hit Mattel Shop. It caused such confusion and issues with angering customers that they lost a fair amount of people willing to go pay the higher price.
I recently bought them and the cost is just too high to ever purchase again. $44 after shipping is not something the average person can afford, so it's no surprise that the tag team set would be viewed as a failure, they should've expected that.

This year MOTUC figures are more limited and will not be "re-issued" like older figures!!! The amount of he-man figures for sale are way less than wwe exclusives!!!

I wouldn't have bought the Rocker's off Matty, but I bought them off Mattel Shop. It's possible that mistake actually helped sell more sets.

One thing's for certain either way you look at it, I no longer see the need for rushing to my computer to order these damn things at Noon anymore...I can literally wait until the next week if I want for the rest of the Legends. If The Rockers and Andre don't sell out, the rest sure won't.

I'm sorry but Andre the Giant is not a huge want among most wrestling figure collectors even for a Legends figure. They picked a bunch of crap guys for what could have been a good line, Like Andre was decent so dont get me wrong. But DDP is great, King Kong Bundy another warmer that wont sell, Tully and Arn are another 2 that were ok wrestlers but nothing that Jakks did not give us. I believe that as collectors giving us some kind of a vote and not really much of a selection they are looking for failure. Elizabeth is a huge want among wrestling collectors from a Legends stand point she was THE ICON for the current DIVA division.

It was fun while it lasted.
Hopefully Mattel does a reboot of Legends Line of something in the future and release the figures people want.

MAYBE IF THEY ACTUALLY MADE PEOPLE WORTH BUYING THEY'D BE SELLING MORE. MATTEL NEEDS TO ING UNDERSTAND THAT WE DON'T GIVE A 5HIT ABOUT ANDRE THE GIANT AND WE CERTAINLY DON'T GIVE A FLYING ABOUT DDP.

Nope. Mattel has never said that. Its just more of a collectors logic. They could be still selling really well we don't know. Its impossible anything sells out in a day. Video Games do not sell out in a day, clothing items do not sell out in a day, nothing does really. There is always tons of stock somewhere to be sold. So its all based on whether enough people are buying them to make Mattel think it is worth it or not. I know my boyfriend has bought like 4 of each legend exclusive out already, plus is buying older ones he missed and trying to get doubles of them for customs. Its hard though cause there so expensive. We can only shop online and no one gives you a break there so it kind of makes us not want to buy as many. Imagine how many other people feel that way to. The online market is really killing Mattel's line with these prices. Here's a direct quote from Scott (Toyguru), He-Man Brand Manager: "The Windraider actually only performed "okay" for us and therefore we have no plans for more vehicles in the near future. There is just too much tooling involved that is a one time use." "No, the Windraider only performed "okay" which makes it doubtful we would tackle another vehicle in the near future. Maybe in a movie year if the line goes wider." That was a 3 day sellout <-- i.e. they sold all the units they had to offer. See this is why I hate Mattel, and Toyguru.(besides all the problems I had at the start of the MOTU) STUPID LAME EXCUSES. Really, whats the difference of selling out in one day, to selling out in three? The Windraider still sold out, AT REGULAR PRICE, not a mark down in 3 days. So they didnt lose crap. So whats the problem.

When Jakks had the line Andre was one of the best selling charectors. If Andre wont sell, then most every other legend from that era wont sell. (with the exeption of Hogan or Flair, both of which arnt possible)

i actually wanted most of the legends they made for the simple fact i decided not to collect the classic superstars line and really regretted it! Yes they could have done better line ups and I question some of the releases and attire choices, I was happy with how the look of the legends that they did come out with. Yeah I would of rather had red version of LOD but the black version they made were a good spot on version. And not to mention I absolutely love the packaging of the Legends Line! Thats something I don't see much talk on here about is the Legends packaging, what did you all think of it? Would you have done something different for the package?
