MAYBE IF THEY ACTUALLY MADE PEOPLE WORTH BUYING THEY'D BE SELLING MORE. MATTEL NEEDS TO ING UNDERSTAND THAT WE DON'T GIVE A 5HIT ABOUT ANDRE THE GIANT AND WE CERTAINLY DON'T GIVE A FLYING ABOUT DDP. Speak for yourself, buddy. Andre has been one of the biggest names in wrestling for over thirty years. Even after his death he is still talked about regularly. And Mattel has finally made the perfect Andre figure. And I for one can't wait to get one.

I have an old Jakks Andre on my desk at work and EVERYONE knows who he is when they see it. Even if it is from Princess Bride fame, they know him. Upright Citizens Brigade did skits about worshiping Andre. Pretty funny stuff.

I'm sorry but Andre the Giant is not a huge want among most wrestling figure collectors even for a Legends figure. MAYBE IF THEY ACTUALLY MADE PEOPLE WORTH BUYING THEY'D BE SELLING MORE. MATTEL NEEDS TO ING UNDERSTAND THAT WE DON'T GIVE A 5HIT ABOUT ANDRE THE GIANT Wow... And simply NOT true. Andre The Giant is an icon and one of the biggest names EVER in pro-wrestling and WWE. He's the perfect figure to start off the online Legends figures... honestly, if you're a Legends collector and don't want this figure, then it's no wonder the Legends line might be in trouble.

What is this " WE" crap? Andre is without a doubt one of the biggest names in the history of this sport. And his figure is a welcomed addition after years of a sub-par Jakks version. Don't lump us into your ignorance next time.

MATTEL NEEDS TO ING UNDERSTAND THAT WE DON'T GIVE A 5HIT ABOUT ANDRE THE GIANT Wow... And NOT true. Andre is an icon and the perfect way to start off the online Legends figures... I would think any Legends collector in their right mind would want Andre (especially as Mattel have done such a fantastic job). Mattel did an awesome job, but I don't like Andre. He wasn't entertaining to me so I don't want his figure. He isn't a guy that my collection feels incomplete without, but that is just my personal preference. That being said, I definitely want DDP, as I was a fan. I do wish the hair was done differently though. Either way, I think Andre and DDP are both great characters for the line, and I had no problem with either guy as I believe they both deserve figures. I personally think Bundy is going to struggle the most of the five. In retrospect, I would have rather seen people get Magnum TA than Bundy, as I think there was a bigger want for Magnum, albeit marginal. This just goes back to the idea that we all have different wants. There isn't one Legend that is going to make 100% of the people happy. Mick Foley, HBK, and guys like Flair and Hogan when they get released are going to be Flashbacks so it has to be hard for Mattel to pick Legends for Matty, which is seemingly why they went with the poll. I thought Andre could have been a Flashback, same for DDP, so if those two are too obscure to be Flashbacks then I think the list of Matty Legends has to be short in terms of guys with name value that will sell.

...did Mattel ever give the actual results/percentages of the Legends poll? I'm sure Miss Elizabeth would have been at, or very near, the top - that's probably why they're saving her 'til last...

Nothing seperated Andre from any of jakks Andre's, if they'd done a figure that everyone wanted that jakks never did they would have sold better.

Here's a direct quote from Scott (Toyguru), He-Man Brand Manager: "The Windraider actually only performed "okay" for us and therefore we have no plans for more vehicles in the near future. There is just too much tooling involved that is a one time use." "No, the Windraider only performed "okay" which makes it doubtful we would tackle another vehicle in the near future. Maybe in a movie year if the line goes wider." That was a 3 day sellout <-- i.e. they sold all the units they had to offer. See this is why I hate Mattel, and Toyguru.(besides all the problems I had at the start of the MOTU) STUPID LAME EXCUSES. Really, whats the difference of selling out in one day, to selling out in three? The Windraider still sold out, AT REGULAR PRICE, not a mark down in 3 days. So they didnt lose crap. So whats the problem. One point that needs to be made is Toy Guru was speaking to very specific things, one, a toy line he manages, and two, the sale of a vehicle, which was a new kind of item in a line whose dynamic is changing. The expectations for Legends, which is a licensed line and run by different people, may very well be different. We just don't know for sure. That said, Andre's performance is unnerving, but I do think he'll sell out on the 15th, because a bunch of us '80s marks will be making purchases on that day. I know I've been watching to see if he was "almost gone" before the 15th comes up. If that happens, I'll pull the trigger early. If not, why not wait and save on shipping? Being relatively new to the line, my observation is that Legends' performance isn't about any one character choice, but the choice of how they address that character (Snuka being the best example). I think Mattel was trying to play the long game on this, but they should have had the confidence in their sculpts and articulation to go for the most recognizable eras/appearances for these guys and bet that such quality would get Jakks collectors to buy again. I do think the current approach with the Elites Flashbacks is a good one. I hope it works well. Less figures for us, sure, but I think it will help guarantee that Legends-style figures make it to the retail pegs.

This year MOTUC figures are more limited and will not be "re-issued" like older figures!!! The amount of he-man figures for sale are way less than wwe exclusives!!! According to motucrec.blogspot.com/ it took 6 weeks to sell out the 1st 10,000 pieces of He-Man. I wonder how many Rockers or Andres were released.

Only HE needed to be one of the retail figs helping this line sell. This is my Favorite Andre fig ever so far. I LOVE the 5 o'clock shadow on his face like his Survivor Series 1987 apperance. Makes him look mean. Would LOVE a 1986 good guy Andre w/Blue Trunks like the 2nd LJN Version w/Short hair as well.

i actually wanted most of the legends they made for the simple fact i decided not to collect the classic superstars line and really regretted it! Yes they could have done better line ups and I question some of the releases and attire choices, I was happy with how the look of the legends that they did come out with. Yeah I would of rather had red version of LOD but the black version they made were a good spot on version. And not to mention I absolutely love the packaging of the Legends Line! Thats something I don't see much talk on here about is the Legends packaging, what did you all think of it? Would you have done something different for the package? I love the packaging actually. with their faces on the front and all. Very Nice.

I will be sad if they do, but won't miss these prices for them. Maybe they should just stick to Flashbacks?

I was going to get the Mattel Andre, but as I went through the checkout on mattycollector I started looking at my Hogan/Andre 2-pack and I realized how much the cloth singlet bugged me. One day Mattel will sell Andre at retail and maybe I'll get him then, but for now the Jakks set looks better to me as well. Not sure I even want to post this as the forum is nothing now but people bitching out anyone that has a complaint against Mattel or any product put out by anyone anymore. Hard to believe any retailer can be struggling with the way people swallow craparound here.

In my house, there are 4 of us who are into the whole wrestling thing and the action figures/toys that go along with it. There is me (43), my two sons (13,12) and my daughter (9). We all have our different things we collect for the most part. My daughter likes the Divas and John Cena. My 12 year old, Rumblers and belts. My 13 year old is the action figure kid. Now, he knows enough about wrestling to know who Andre, DDP, Elizabeth, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are. He wants them all for his collection, which he plays with/makes movies with. He wants the flashback figures as well in the regulare elite line. All my figures are displayed loose on a shelf. My point is, there are kids out there who know who Andre is and want his figure. I am not sure if these kids know where to find him or know about MattyCollector. Maybe that is part of the problem. Maybe they should do a commercial and have it air on Raw/Smackdown once a show...maybe that will help get the word out.
