I think this year came down to Seattle's defense just being too dominant, Denver kept going for these little short passes that Seattle was all over.
It'll be interesting next offseason when Seattle has to start paying some of these guys who are making next to nothing right now.

I still put Peyton in the discussion with Montana and Brady. Marino won no Super Bowls, and Aikman and Bradshaw won a ton. Greatness is hard to put an exact label on. You can't use Super Bowls alone as a measuring stick. I've been watching football over 30 years. Montana is still the best I have ever seen. Followed closely by Manning, then Brady, to me. But nobody is more right than anyone else in that discussion. Super Bowls alone shouldn't but Manning has an AWFUL (and that's being generous) playoff record for a guy who's been so elite in the reg. season. Plus, he might've had worse defenses on his team compared to Brady but his offenses have been way better on paper (Marv, Wayne, D. Clark, Edge).

Montana is probably the greatest Super Bowl QB ever.. miles ahead of Brady in my opinion.

Montana is probably the greatest Super Bowl QB ever.. miles ahead of Brady in my opinion. Well if we are going my sheer wins, Bradshaw says hi. If Brady is able to win another one before he retires in like, two years or so, I would put him above Bradshaw and more importantly, Montana.

There has been a lot of talk of the greatest QB of all time recently. Before the Super Bowl a lot had Peyton Manning as the G.O.A.T, but I think that has changed after his performance in this Super Bowl and his overall playoff record (I believe its 11-12, with him having the most playoff losses). Now in my opinion you play to win the game. You don't play for passing yard totals, or touchdown totals, you play to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Now of course those stats should come into play when determining the greatest quarterback, but should be the largest nor sole factor in determining the best. For the best is probably Joe Montana. The guy is 4 of 4 in the super bowl, engineered game winning after game winning drive, has above average stats, and is probably the greatest clutch quarterback of all time. In a close, and I mean very close second, like .01% behind Joe is Tom Brady. A 6th round pick, then a third stringer NFL QB through circumstances got the starting job. A great story. His first three titles came with no name receivers (but being the die hard Pats fan) he had David Givens, Patten, Brown, and Kevin Faulk. Montana had Jerry Rice (who was named #1 football player ever by NFL Network), Taylor, Clark, Craig, plus an exceptional defense with Ronnie Lott leading the way. As soon as Brady did get a top weapon in Randy Moss, he puts up 50 touchdowns. Imagine if Brady had Moss his whole career? He would be at Dan Marino like numbers by now. Not only that but in the two super bowls he did lose, he did not choke, his defense did. He had his team up both times against the Giants, but then his defense failed to hold on. And not to make excuses but Brady played with severely injured ankle in the first super bowl against the Giants. For me if Brady wins another he is the GOAT. But till then... Montana. Hope to hear other people responses and picks.

Like TRW said, there really is no right or wrong answer to who is the greatest QB.
Im biased with my Top 5 (Edit: Big Game) QBs (well at least #2)
1)Joe Montana 2)Steve Young 3)Tom Brady 4)John Elway 5)Dan Marino

There is no way on earth Elway is better than Manning. Elway was great, but there is a reason why, even without the SBs, Manning is still high in the conversation.
Trent Dilfer has a ring. Eli has two. Ben has two. Aikman has three. Are any of them in the convo? Nope. With the exception of Dilfer, the other three will be in the class of very good...and if either Eli or Ben get another ring they will be in the HoF, but Peyton will always be better than them.
Point is, Manning may suck balls in the playoffs, but the fact that he is so great, you can almost look passed that.

I started to type something and changed the way I worded it and misspoke. I would take Elway over Manning in a big game, even if Elway 2-3 in Super Bowls. Elway had a "clutchness" about him.

Young isnt a Top 5 All time QB, but in a big game...he'd be my second choice after Montana. lol Young could have been number two if he didnt take all of those big hits. He missed some time from 95-97 I believe with head injuries. Guess is was never meant to be sadly.

What many people fail to remember is he spent 3 seasons sitting behind Montana. If he throws for 3000yds those 3 years he was behind Montana and then another 3000 the year he was killed on Monday Night Football, he's in the top 10 in passing yards. He's got 3 SB rings (2 as a back up), 2 time MVP, 3rd highest passer rating (highest among those retired), and he's tossed 6 TDs in Super Bowls.

Young in Dallas would be like the Buffalo Bills, they would make four Super Bowls in a row, only exception is that the Cowboys led by Young would have won all four. He also wasted two years in Tampa Bay in 85 and 86.

I think if Brady does make a 6th Super Bowl, that might put him at #1. Especially if he wins 4. 6 Super Bowls would be insane. I am okay with Montana #1 for now, but I cant put Peyton ahead of Brady because of what he does in the postseason and hes had WAY more talent than Brady.

Some of those Colts teams Peyton had were absolutely stacked.

Getting to the AFC Championship game with a squad of nobodies. Granted it wasn't all on Brady, they had a hell of a coaching job, but it takes someone on the field to go out and execute.

With Rice being either gone or restructuring we can resign Tate, we will need to be smart about our money and some players may need to take a slight pay cut, but I think we'll be ok. As for my top 5 qbs it is 1.Montana 2.Brady 3.Manning 4.Marino 5. I'm off to go to our Superbowl parade now. Great season.
