So I'm considering joining the real world in 2012 and getting on the "smartphone" bandwagon.
I've got Sprint and I will NOT change carriers. I love Sprint, been with them for about 7 years and to me they have the best plan around.
So I'm curious if anyone has Sprint and what phone they have? I don't want an iPhone either. So anything but that.
Gotta be touch screen, HTC, Samsung, LG...whatever. Thoughts?

If you care about having the newest version of the software as soon as you get it, you'll want the Nexus S (unless they put the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint soon). Otherwise, depending on your needs, the Samsung Galaxy S™ ll, Epic™ 4G Touch may be your best bet, although it does win the contest for worst name.
Also, since you said "anything but iPhone" you may want to give the Arrive a look. It's Windows Phone, which if you have Xbox Live may be something of interest to you as some of the games will get you achievements, and they have a whole Xbox Live section.

I have AT&T and have the Galaxy S II now [my iPhone took a shiz ![:(](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/sad.gif) ] and I love that thing. If the Sprint version - Epic or what u called it - is anything like the AT&T one, I'd say get that.

Definitely wait for the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint. In terms of Android, the Nexus line is THE best way to go in my opinion.
Vanilla Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.65 inch 720p Super Amoled HD screen, NFC, no bloatware, It's Google's flagship phone so it will be the first phone to receive android updates , etc.
I have one and I absolutely love it.

That's the Nexus S. The Nexus phone from last year--which is still a great phone. Here's the Sprint Galaxy Nexus page. www.sprint.com/landings/lte/index.html?ECID=SEM:Google:P:Sprint:SamsungThe downside is, it hasn't released on Sprint yet, and no one really knows when it's going to release. If you're willing to wait, it's a great device and you don't really have to worry about newer phones coming out since it is a Nexus Phone, it will be the first phone to receive updates from Google as well as the first the phone to be updated to Android Jelly Bean.

gotcha. yeah this isnt something im trying to do tomorrow...but i think its definitley time for me to get on the android phone bandwagon
but the Nexus S is still comparable...just not the "newest" i really don't care about having the newest stuff...i know im eligible for an upgrade so im tryin to stay within the $100 range for a new phone anyway

The Galaxy SII is an amazing phone and does everything I want it to do. Even the browser is amazing and the screen is huge.

I have the Samsung Conquer on Sprint, just got it a few days ago. It's a bit cheaper, but I still really like it.

how is the battery life? do u have to turn off a million things to make it last longer than 3 hours? is it easy to navigate around? If you have 4G on, the screen brightness high, and are using the phone a lot, obviously it's going to drain the battery. Good thing about Android is, is that you can just set up a power bar widget where you can toggle and adjust those things those things from your homescreen. Just don't flood your phone with widgets, don't have an animated wallpaper, and keep the screen brightness on auto, and it should last you over a day.

Go to your local Sprint shop and try some out.
Give the HTC EVO 4G a go. HTC has great build quality, and a lot of people really like their Sense overlays on top of Android's OS. Only problem is HTC is a bit slow on updates, so don't expect ICS anytime soon. Also, battery life seems a bit worse on HTC phones than others.
Another good bet is is the Samsung SG2. Lovely screen, and really making a name for itself as the big competitor for the iPhone (In name and recognition, anyway. Technically, a lot of Android phones have beaten the iPhone in terms of screen and hardware.). Only thing about the SGS2 is that it feels a bit cheap material wise, but you shouldn't have to worry about it too much.
Also, Windows phones are very cool these days with their new OS. The Metro OS is wonderful and is worth a look if you're in the search for a new phone.
