Thats why i had a serious issue with this whole episode. I liked that the show and comic were grounded in reality but I can see network execs pushing for running zombies eventually.

So now the zombies will kill non-humans to eat? Granted this was established earlier when they fed chickens to the zombies in the barn. I'm guessing you forgot about the horse in season 1? I did forget about the horse. But now what's bugging me is that if this zombie took down the cow, why did it stop eating it? When ever we see the zombies feasting, they tend to stay and eat. I dont get why it would kill the cow, eat a bit, then walk away, hide, and then pop up to attack Dale. Do you guys think Carl confesses to seeing the zombie earlier or does he live with the secret for a few weeks/months/years

Maybe this will lead to those "issues". I don't know about the whole cow thing, maybe zombies prefer the taste of human flesh over that of animals? I know I prefer a nice steak over a burger if I am going to eat some beef. Edit: Also I would have been shocked about the zombies in The Walking Dead eating animals if I hadn't watched Survival of the Dead.

We have to keep in mind that Dale was upset and not thinking clearly when he was on patrol in the field. Also, when he found the cow eaten up his full attention was focused on that instead of his surroundings.
In regards to the zombie ripping him open...it's plausible. If its fingers are bony enough I suppose it could rip through. We shouldn't really be comparing a zombie apocalypse show to the laws of physics. They really don't apply here...

Agree that is what some of the guests on The Talking Dead [don't know if people watch that show?] were saying. Crazy way to die [well technically he was shot to death but you get what I'm saying..] for Dale although I won't really miss him. At least this episode was one where he was a major character trying to save the kid. Speaking of that kid I would have 100% killed his ass! I mean he has 30 heavily armed people, knows the location of the barn, and he just freaked me out.. I know he did some nasty shady sh*t with those females. And his little talk with Carl was just not right.. Carl, Carl, Carl.. You stupid little er! First of all you talk crap to Carol who is grieving over Sophia. I mean someone needs to teach him common courtesy that you may not believe in something but your ass needs to have respect.. Then he just wanders around and steals a gun.. Who the hell is watching him when he is exploring in the woods. He has no fear when he clearly should have some standing 5 feet or less from a walker.. If you want to act all big and bad with your gun actually make the shot! So yeah his ass played a big part in Dale getting killed and he should feel guilty. The last thing that annoyed me about Carl in this episode was that he caused his stupid ass daddy to delay the execution.. He had no business being in the barn.. He clearly doesn't mind so his ass needs a good beating.. End rant.. I am tired now so I'll get back to this later.

I don't really have a problem with how Dale died. This is a show about zombies, and we're going to pick apart the way he was killed? Seems silly to do that.
As far as Carl, he is a litle kid who has seen things that no human should see, let alone a child. He is growing up way too fast, and hardening to the world around him to survive. It's a major theme of the show, and the comics.
Also, I liked Andrea a helluva lot more in the comics than in the show. But I do like the Herschel from the show better. Anyway, big things coming next season. Hopefully Michonne is one of them.

Doubt that will happen, Kirkman has said his zombies will NEVER move any faster than those in the original Night of the Living Dead. Also, as far as the argument of "Dale should have smelled the zombie behind him", well, there was a cow with it's stomach ripped open. I'm sure that smell isn't exactly roses and tulips. How Dale never saw the thing, I don't know. Beats me.

Questioning plausibility in zombie stories is a new one on me, even in a more grounded tale like The Walking Dead. That's like asking why the main character ran upstairs when she was being chased by the slasher maniac in the horror movie instead of running out the front door, because then the ing movie would be over. Dale needed to get got so the story could move forward, and he did. All those comments just seem overly critical. How on earth are you going to tell the creators of the Walking Dead what the zombies are capable of in the world that they created? And Dale was completely distracted, that's why he is dead. End of story imo.

I enjoy the show, but I hear people, especially in this thread, talking about how the writing is great, when it is in fact filled with holes and is dragging at times. I wish they didn't can Darabont.

Too many stupid characters. Carl, Lori, T-Dogg, Glen, Andrea, Maggie, Rick & Dale - glad he's dead, wish Shane actually did it now however, they all act completely stupid. Also Daryl, why hold info that this 'kid' and his gang at least were witnesses to the implied gang rape of two teenage girls in front of they're father away from the group. And lets not forget the multiple intent to kill shots fired at the bar trip. You say that in front of everybody and they'd all be on board the eradication. While were all watching saying kill the **** we have Dale standing up for him all ep long. Lets get shot of T-Dogg, Lori and Andrea - I hope by season 3 end we have these two morons dead and move the on shall we, Rick needs shaking up some more apparently. Also could do with Maggie or Glenn getting killed, hate they're dumbass love story.

Warning. Contains Spoliers for the comic series
Am I the only one who can't stand Shane? I really wish he would've been killed off like he was in the comic series. Maybe not by Carl, but I'd like him dead.

His group already ambushed them at the bar and tried to kill them. Randall admits to his group being violent and raping young girls. Should have been killed on the spot. Way too dangerous.

Maybe not by Carl, but I'd like him dead. i think Shane was done much better in the show, way more time to develop that story and he will meet his doom soon enough. Also about zombies preferring humans to the cow.....then why, in the pilot episode, did the zombies love that damn horse so much?

One thing I've always wondered with zombie movies is this, how long are those zombies/walking dead supposed to stay active? At what point does dead flesh rot and fall off leaving just a skeleton? The first 28 days later kinda touched on this at the end. I just wonder, if in case of zombies, couldnt I just hold up somewhere safe and wait for them to rot away?

Well now that these zombies eat things besides Humans, they could live for a few months/years I'd guess. In 28 Days/Weeks later, the logic is that it takes them 28 Days w.o. food for them to die, no?
Not having read the comics, I apply Max Brooks' The Zombie Survival Guide to zombies. So I expect the zombies to freeze during the winter and then thaw out to wreck havoc on the group when they've let their guard down.
Side note, watched Comicbook Men and in their preview has T-Dogg getting ready to get Randy out of the barn. And when he's unlocking the door he says "Randy, Governor called, you're off the hook." here's the link.
With 2 episodes left, is it safe to say that that scene is 100% foreshadowing that Randy's group is The Governor's. We all ready know they confirmed that character is cast and going to be in season 3. Or will this group turn out not having anything to do with The Governor storyline?

T-Dogg was probably being sarcastic referencing that as in the fact that only a pardon from a Governor can stop the execution of a person. A stay of execution for the time being for Randall.
