WrestleZone has learned exclusively that WWE writers have been informed to expect Stone Cold Steve Austin at this year's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, but not at WrestleMania 28.
"If Stone Cold appears at WrestleMania, he certainly isn't expected to do anything in the ring," a key WWE insider told us, "and Austin has not been shy in telling (WWE Chairman) Vince (McMahon) that he has no plans of playing second fiddle to The Rock in any way."
Austin has told some friends he would love to attend the event but does not want to even be asked to get involved in a match, since The Rock and John Cena are in the main event. "Austin has a plan, and it doesn't include being a supporting character in a Rock starring role," WrestleZone was told.

i say save austin for next year and build it up the same way, then you have two big years in a row with big return matches.

Well its great that Austin won't be Wrestling because that match would be forgotten due to Rock vs Cena, If Austin/Punk did happen then it wouldn't get the build and amount of time it deserves. Hopefully that match can happen at WM29 or WM30 or whenever WM is in Texas.
Why not make Austin the host of WM? With the match card shaping up to be stacked it would make sense for a big name like Austin to host that big WM.

Why no Austin at AXXESS? Why no Rock at AXXESS?
Anyway, Austin vs Punk should happen but they deserve to be on the marquee. It seems good to go for next year, at least in Austin's mind.

Hopefully his plan involves a feud with Punk leading into WM 29 or 30.

damn i do hope Austin shows up at least to make an appearance. He was my favorite growing up and it just does not seem like wrestling anymore with out Stone Cold around

am i the only one who would rather see Austin VS Cena instead of Austin VS Punk?
I mean they can have stone cold come out and stunner Cena after the match. and he could come out the next night and say that Cena said he wanted to face the best from the last generation and he faced the rock instead of him. and he can say how he found that disrespectful etc.
Dont get me wrong i still think Austin/Punk is golden but i prefer Cena/Austin

Glad to see him skip it and make the one he returns at(if he does indeed do a match or return) a little more special.

I'd rather see Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk with either Jericho winning then after shaking punks hand ditches through the crowd when Austin comes down on a beer truck and have it be filled with pepsi. Have Punk act like he doesn't want him to spray it then when he gets sprayed and Austin sprays him and he starts laughing as Austin looks ticked. Have it be Punk saw the beer truck and replaced it with Pepsi when he found out from a buddy that it was Austins.
He cuts a big promo dissing Austin and The Rock and the whole Attitude Era. Have the next night Jericho comes out and shakes Punk's hand and it leads to a build for The Rock and Austin vs. Jericho and Punk at Summerslam. With Punk and Jericho going for the first team to hold all the world titles with one going for WHC and the other the WWE and both as tag team. At Survivor Series have Punk turn on Jericho and ditch him and Austin and Rock beat down on Jericho for revenge from years back. Have Jericho come out face on Raw and challenge Punk on the next ppv. Have Punk vs. Stone Cold at Mania. You could have face Jericho in the current role of Punk. Have punk be a young punk who thinks he knows it all but be kind of a tweener to the young generation.
Then have Punk cut more shoot like promos as a tweener and bring up new talent like Chris Hero, Alex Koslov, and Jon Moxley

Smart move by Austin to just wait it out.

Understandable, and probably justified as well. Doesn't make sense to completely cram your show with these guys who aren't around very often, it takes the spotlight off of the current in-ring talent, and it cheapens the appearances of these past stars.
This is The Rock's night. Austin can have his night whenever he wants (especially if he decides to step in the ring one more time). I wouldn't mind seeing him involved in some sort of comedic backstage segment, but anything else is unnecessary this year, unless it directly correlates to him starting a program with someone he'd come back to face. For example, having him confront Punk post match. Even that, though, is stretching it.
