Hey there WFers, Just like Legends, this Legends-only collector's picture taking is getting to be few and far between. DDP's got a pretty bad face scan (and I actually like the guy!) and King Kong Bundy isn't interesting me yet, so I fear my next set of pics will be of Arn Anderson in the summer Anyways, Andre the Giant arrived today! Yes I'm in Canada and in true Newgistics/Mattycollector fashion, cheap shipping = 1 month to Canada for me. So I'm late to the party but hey. My reviews are "lite" on content so I'm not going through all 20-something points of articulation but it's all there. Andre has a new torso mold so it's not a re-hashed Big Show if you were wondering. I do wish Mattel went with a molded singled as opposed to fabric, but thankfully there's no stains on my Andre. Love the head sculpt, probably one of the best representations of Andre in toy-form. But here's my critique - for $20 + $8 S/H they could have really gone the extra mile and sculpted larger hands. The face is quite large, but the hands are your regular big man hands and Andre was bigger than that. Also in terms of proportions, his arms should have been longer. You can't do a proper bear-hug because of the wide torso and short hands. Still he's definitely an asset to any Legends collection, hell it's Andre the freakin' Giant!!! Final Verdict: Is Andre worth it as a singles release? Maybe, but there's too many things that kill it for me - small hands, regular length arms, fabric singlet. If Mattel had released this Andre with a Legends ESR - oh hell yeah it would be the best value for your money ~ but we all know how that turned out.

damn you for making me notice the negatives on Andre!!! I got mine the other day...took half as long to get mine (2 weeks) but probably half the distance...across the US. Anyway, for $30 I'm GLAD Andre came with a cloth singlet...anything else would have felt even more of a rip off. I agree about the arms/hands thing...didn't notice it until you pointed it out, definitley would have made this a 100% perfect figure Either way, I don't feel like I wasted my money on him. The scan, belt & overall size of it are just awesome.

one of the reasons why I wish it was a sculpted singlet myself is that the stitching is no Ralph, therefore the thread is loosing out and fraying as you can clearly see around his butt in the pic with Jake.

This has no bearing on anything, but the guy in your signature looks like Buck "Rock'n'roll" Zumhofe.

I kinda would like to see Mattel work with a rubber like singlet. Kinda like the material they make their new shirts out of. Sculpt one would be preferred but cloth ones (while more accurate) sometimes get on my nerves because they fall off the shoulder or like bandy said, shed threads.

I dont understand ppl being mad that its like $30 total? yeh its alot but they're plenty of ppl here over paying for HHH's and HBK's. Hell the cheapest I've seen an Elite 11 Punk online is $40.

Did Andre ever have a beard or stubble like that? If he did, I don't recall it. I know he had long side-burns before, but that was it.

Great review and i agree with what you pointed out. Bigger hands and a molded singlet wouldve improved Andre, but pretty sweet figure nonetheless Great pics too!!

Actually the Legends/Elite bodies have 27 POA consisting of - ball-jointed head, ball-jointed shoulders (X2), upper arm cuts (X2), elbow hinges (X2) , wrist cuts (X2), wrist hinges (X2), Ab-crunch, waist, hips (X2), upper thigh cuts (X2), double knees (X4), top of the boot cuts (X2) ankles hinges (X2) & pivots (X2)
And I actually think his arms are long enough. His fingers should be down to about mid-thigh which I think they'd be if they were extended. But I do agree with the rest

But I do agree with the rest well I did say "20-something" so 27 is in range =P As for the arms, I get that they probably didn't want to invest new tooling above and beyond his torso because really who else would need such long arms? However I think if they used a double-elbow joint (similar to his knees) it would extend the arms just a tad more. He needs bigger hands regardless, but it would have been nice to be able to lock his fingers around for a bear hug.
