I was watching the go home shows for Wrestlemania 13 on Classics on Demand last week and during the build for Rocky Maivia vs. The Sultan at Mania Tony Atlas kept coming to Rocky's aid though the crowd, Then at Mania Rocky Johnson got involved in the mix. After that it was nothing. Now the Sultan had Bob Backlund and Iron Sheik as managers. Were they building to a 6 Man Tag with Rocky Maivia, Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson v. Sultan, Bob Backund & Iron Sheik? It sure seemed that way. I know Rock was getting booed heavily at the time. Does anyone know if that was the plan?

I literally know NOTHING about the build up to Rocky Maivia vs. The Sultan.
I was watching at the time too.
It must have not have been good enough to remember or...I just don't remember. One of the two.

the Sultan thing started before he ever got involved with Rocky...Backlund and The Sheik coming together because they suppossedly saw something is this "newcomer" ,and with their combined skills, wisdom, and experience as former World Champions, they were going to lead him to the WWF Title!....something like that.... the Rocky thing was more or less coincidence ,as they tied him to his lineage for a couple months ,and then he was put in a program with Masked Rikishi a couple months later....
Atlas,i'll assume, was just slumming it and appeared on camera a few times for the money.... i mean,if they were going to go that route,a 6-man feud, WM would've been the perfect time,as Atlas was sitting front row next to Lou albano, and could easily have jumped the barrier and been in the ring faster than is took Rocky Johnson to run in from the back....

from what i took from it, it was just campy crappy ways of putting rocky over as a 'wholesome' face. this of course did not really put him over whatsoever.
